Lake Waramaug Cottage

Digital Detox!

Close your screens and experience life again in real time.

An immaculate, classic 1940’s lake cottage within walking distance of beautiful Lake Waramaug. Nicely furnished with antiques, oriental rugs, vintage glassware, comfortable seating and beds. The house has been completely updated with an open floor plan, tiled bath and fully stocked kitchen  right down to the lettuce spinner! But it still retains its authentic lake-house charm with the original golden pine paneling, wood-burning fireplace, cedar shingles, and a front porch where you can relax and watch runners, bicyclists, and classic cars cruise by.
The house is in the town of Warren, only 1.5 hours from New York City, and has the best private town beach on the lake. Lake Waramaug, the second largest natural lake in the state, is Connecticut’s only designated Heritage Lake. While there are some motor boats, we do not have anywhere near the boating activity of other lakes. Peace and quiet enjoyment are still possible here. Paddleboats and kayaks can be rented at the State Park. Walking trails are right outside the back door with spectacular views from the top of Tanner Hill. Award winning vineyards and terrific restaurants  from casual to formal  abound. Visit farm markets, country fairs, art galleries, one-of-a-kind shops, auctions and antiques stores, all within easy commute. Cinemas, day spas and professional theatre are all nearby. The cottage is just minutes from lovely New Preston Village. Also easy drive to music events at Music Mountain (30 minutes); Infinity Hall (45 minutes); and Tanglewood (1 hour). Cultural activities abound throughout Litchfield County and the nearby Berkshires.
Come enjoy one beautiful New England town after another in Litchfield County. Breathe our fresh country air and drink our unpolluted water. Munch on organic berries and fresh herbs from the garden. Or enjoy a glass of wine and meditative ‘decompression’ by the sounds of the backyard water garden. This is sophisticated country living at its low key, gracious best.

Perfect and lovely cottage!
This cottage fit our needs perfectly in every way: location, size, amenities, ease-of-use. It was remarkably clean and had ALL the comforts of home. And the property itself is beyond beautiful. I enjoyed my coffee every morning by the frog pond. Jon and Blake were the perfect hosts; welcoming and available (they live next door) without being ever-present and intrusive. They provided information on local attractions and historical sites as well as restaurants and hiking. They have lived there for a long time and the pride they have for their town and home/cottage was evident. Simply lovely people. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning year after year. Thank you Jon and Blake!!

Beyond our expectations
The objective of the stay was to see the Eric Sloane Museum in Kent CT. But with the wonderful suggestions from Blake, our hostess, we saw so much more. Even though the cottage is on a highway, inside the house you really cannot hear the traffic. So clean, cozy, and comfortable. Read the information closely - understand there is NO WiFi and very limited cell phone reception within the house. There is a toll-free landline, and an ethernet cable. If you have a laptop, invest in an ethernet-usb adapter and you are good to go if you feel the need to be connected. P.S. The frogs in the frog pond were delightful, and we enjoyed sitting in the sun with our host Jon and watching the frogs watching us.

If they don't have it, you don't need it.
The best couple, service, location, price, and then some.... Also, a beautiful garden to enjoy, and eat from, with pond... Everything one needs is there or near by, e.g., a beautiful inn, restaurants, vineyard, stores...

Simply Charming
We were delighted with our stay at Lake Waramaug Cottage. Cozy, comfortable, charming. Hosts were unobtrusive, welcoming, and helpful with our questions about the area. Lovely sitting area by the small pond in the garden. The location was perfect for us as first time visitors to Connecticut. We wanted to be in a rural area without feeling isolated. Lake Waramaug Cottage provided everything we needed for our stay. Fully stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, and lots of natural lighting. Although we didn't light a fire there is also a fireplace. Ethernet connection is provided. Overall a perfect stay.
