Lamoine vacation home
This is a beautiful property! It is in a forest of trees on a private road and also on a tidal cove, that we enjoyed watching as it filled and emptied. The home was lovely and everything we needed was right there. We enjoyed the privacy and the woodstove on cool nights. Bar Harbor and the Acadia Parks were a pleasant drive and Ellsworth was very close by, with shops and restaurants. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Excellent, excellent, excellent
We rented this for my parents, for their 50th wedding anniversary gift. They'd never been to Maine, and always wanted to go. They were absolutely blown away by the serene beauty of the home and surrounding property. My parents are "get away from the hustle-and-bustle" people, and this house was perfect. They truly felt like they had the true Maine experience.
Communication with the owners was quick and informative. The home was wonderful. The surrounding area was stunning...and it didn't hurt that they went in peak color season.
Thanks for making their week so wonderful, and for sharing your gorgeous home.

September 2019 Getaway
Cabin - The cabin was a very pleasant surprise from previous vacation rental experiences. It was set up well enough that many of the items we had brought, such as bathroom supplies were unnecessary. It was almost as if the owners had just moved their personal belongings out to allow us to use their home for a week. The river shore is visible from the cabin and offers a nice walk at lower tide.
The owners communicated well before the rental period with information and, during the rental we were able to contact them.
Location - The cabin location is very convenient to Mt. Desert Island and the Maine coast from Searsport in the south to Eastport.at the Canadian border 2 hours away.
We would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a getaway in the Mt. Desert Island area.
Wonderful, private, quiet retreat.
We had a terrific, restful break from our over-programmed lives. Cathy's cabin is very private and quiet, steps from the ocean, and very comfortable. We sat and read on the deck each morning, listening to the songbirds and watching the deer (and a porcupine) walk along, next to the water. We watched a Star Wars marathon, hiked in Acadia (30 minutes away), and basically just recharged. A perfect place to unwind. Highly recommended!
This place is close to everything and a pleasure in itself
The house and premises are exactly as described. Kitchen is very well equipped, living-room is light and airy and has a lot of extras Beautiful views from the deck, hammock between the pines, steps to the granite ledges along water. It is as close to nature as it gets- we saw deer and turkeys in the woods near the house almost daily, and found plenty of chanterelles. Yet the main stores of Ellsworth are 10 min away, plus it is actually located closer to Acadia than Ellsworth, with a shortcut via local roads.
If you want to brave swimming in the tidal cove, the best time is right after the full tide, when water is at its cleanest. If you prefer lakes and/or want a rest from Acadian crowds, try Schoodic beach 20-25 min away. A short path leads from the parking lot to a gorgeous beach on a secluded Donnell pond. From there a trail goes to climb Schoodic mountain with fantastic 360-degree views from the summit. Can look up details on mainetrailfinder website.
One more thing to add: during our stay, I had to contact the owners on two occasions, and both times received from Cathy a prompt and helpful response.
In short, great house, surroundings and location.. Thanks, Cathy and Rick!
Map
