Located in a small development of detached villas, with panoramic sea views of the Atlantic Ocean, set in a stunning location with mountain back drop on the beautiful island of Santo Antao.

Accessed via a rough steep mountain road and located on a popular hiking trail this setting is ideal for those interested in hiking, bird watching or who want to enjoy some time in a tranquil location.

The villa is furnished to a good standard.

A quiet, but not isolated location from which to relax and enjoy the views from the large open plan lounge / dining area or step outside onto the balcony. Or better still, why not enjoy a cool drink on the roof terrace?

Aluguers regularly run past the village at the beginning and end of the working day as workers are transported to/from Lombo Branco. Alternatively, there are plenty of local private taxis that can be hired.

Sitting on one of the largest 2-bed villa plots, this villa has private gardens with lush vegetation including banana and papaya trees so please help yourself to the fresh fruit when it is in season.

Our guests have free access to a shared pool in the village. Alternatively, we can provide access to a private pool subject to availability and a local charge of 10 EUR per day. Please let us know at the time of booking if this is something of interest.

Our local Rental Management Agents can arrange taxis to/from the port, trips to local restaurants, ferry tickets, as well as half day / full-day scenic and hiking tours.

The end of stay cleaning is included, although additional cleaning can be arranged for a small additional cost if required.

It is about a 25 minute walk down to the sea front (Sinagoga) and the main coastal road. And about 45 minute walk back up to the village. There are regular aluguers (shared taxis) that go up and down the mountain road and will charge about 1 euro per person to Ribeira Grande. Note that these run regularly at the beginning and end of the working day. And there are plenty of private taxis for hire. There are a couple of local shops only a 5-10 mins walk away that stocks all the essential items. But we recommend that you do a full shop in Ribeira Grande before arriving at the villa. Lombo Branco Village has an on-site gardener and security and is available for any issues within the village or villa. Local car hire and private taxis are available from Port Novo. Due to the mountainside location and vegetation around the villas, there can be the occasional ant or millipede. And we recommend that you purchase some insecticide for use during your stay.

Amazing, luxurious villa with fantastic views.

Amazing, luxurious villa with fantastic views. It was equipped to the highest standard. The roof terrace was a real sun trap but you could always find some shade too. The pool was a great bonus. It was extremely relaxing and quiet. The little shop, just a few minutes walk up the road, had all the basics. It’s a brilliant base for walking. Fresh fruit grows on the site and we helped ourselves to fresh papaya most days. Shame the bananas were not quite ready!

Mehr Schein als Sein - More bling than really a treasure

Wir können das Haus leider nicht empfehlen.

Von außen betrachtet sieht alles sehr gut aus. Leider efrüllen sich die Erwartungen nicht.

Wir hatten einen Jeep als Leihwagen. Und ohne überhöhte Ansprüche an kapverdische Straßen zu stellen, die Zufahrtsstraße zum Haus ist eine Zumutung. Sie ist steil, eng und extrem schlecht gepflastert. Mit einem normalem Wagen keinesfalls zu empfehlen. Mit Abstand die übelste Straße auf Santo Antao und wir sind sehr viel abgefahren. Ohne Auto ist man sehr weit weg von allem, da stimmen die Angaben der Vermieter aber im wesentlichen.

Die Ferienanlage (offensichtlich ein Investitionsobjekt für Ausländer) ist vollkommen leer gewesen, wir waren die einzigen. Der im Text angesprochene Pool ist nicht in Betrieb. Im Haus selber war auch einiges im Argen: die Klimaanlage funktionierte nur schwach, die Schranktüren im Schlafzimmer ließen sich nicht bewegen, der Sonnenschirm konnte nicht im Tisch befestigt werden, da der untere Befestigungsholm fehlte. Der Wasserdruck in der Dusche sehr schwach. Die Pfanne war irgendwie so verbogen, dass man sie nicht grade auf die Herdplatte stellen konnte. Es ist sehr offensichtlich, dass das Haus selten bewohnt wird.

Das übelste aber waren die auf Santo Antao beheimateten und nicht ausrottbaren Tausendfüßler, die vor allem in den Abendstunden überall im Haus herumkrochen, aus dem Abflusssieb in der Badewanne kamen usw.

Da hat es uns gereicht, wir sind nach 2 Nächten ausgezogen und haben uns eine andere (übrigens ungezieferfreie) Unterkunft gesucht.

Viewed from the outside, everything looks very good. Unfortunately, expectations do not meet.

- unacceptable access road despite jeep

- much in the house did not work or not right: air-conditioning, barriers, umbrella, pan etc.

- Leave the holiday complex completely

- in the evening Millipedes everywhere in the house and in the bathtub

We left after 2 days, never again

Owner's Response: We thank you for your review, however we feel that some of your comments are due to the fact that you were not happy with the mountainside location and wanted a coastal town - a point in fact that you then went to Ponta do Sol. Our villa is ideally suited for those seeking something a little different enjoying the quiet and wonderful sea and mountain views. It is located right on a popular hiking trail that takes you up into the mountains. We agree that the road surface requires improvement but this is beyond our control. However, the government has made efforts to improve the wall along the road and recently the Prime Minister has visited and has committed to improvements which we are hoping will materialise in 2018. However, the road is used on a daily basis by workers and children travelling to and from work and school to the coastal towns and villages. We have one air-con unit in the lounge and advise guests to make use of the curtains and nets to regulate the temperature in the villa. Santo Antao is a relatively poor island and any measure to minimise use of resources is always appreciated. Over the last 2 months the villa has undergone extensive refurbishment including improved drainage, it has been painted inside and out and all windows have been re-siliconed to prevent ants and millipedes from entering. We provide insect repellent at the beginning of the season and recommend all our guests also purchase some before they arrive. A new pan has been supplied and all wardrobe doors have been cleaned and adjusted and are now working smoothly. The village is becoming more popular with local residents now purchasing some of the villas. There are also improvements in the surrounding area with a couple of local shops selling all the basic items. We have also worked with the on-site manager and the shared pool is now working. We can also provide access to a private pool subject to availability and a charge of 10 EUR per day, payable locally. Hopefully it is clear that we take all our guests comments seriously and we have worked very hard to remedy any concerns for our future guests. Warm regards, Luke & Heather.

Santo Antão is the westernmost and largest of the Cape Verdean islands.

It is a beautiful and lush green island with rugged peaks and deep valleys .

Many people are attracted to the islands for the hiking and bird watching, particularly the Ribeiras with the beautiful scenery.

You can appreciate the stunning views with spectacular drives along the coastal roads which provide access to the ravines and gorges containing lush vegetation.

Lombo Branco Village is located about 1.5km up a steep mountain road from Sinagoga and is sign-posted from the main coastal road.

The nearest towns are Ribeira Grande and Paul which provide local services, banks, fuel, supermarkets, restaurants and medical facilities.

There are a couple of small local supermarkets only 5-10 mins walk away from the village that supply all the basics.

The tallest mountain is Topo de Coroa, reaching a height of 1,979 m which can afford spectacular views above the clouds.

The island’s main town is Ponta do Sol on the north coast and the ferry port is Porto Novo on the south coast.
