|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Located in a small development of detached villas, with panoramic sea views of the Atlantic Ocean, set in a stunning location with mountain back drop on the beautiful island of Santo Antao.
Accessed via a steep mountain road and located on a popular hiking trail. Ideal for those interested in hiking, bird watching or who want to enjoy a tranquil setting.
The villa is furnished to a good standard.
A quiet but not isolated location from which to relax and enjoy the views from the large open plan lounge / dining area or step outside onto the balcony. Or better still, why not enjoy a cool drink on the roof terrace?
Aluguers regularly run past the village at the beginning and end of the working day as workers are transported to/from Lombo Branco. Alternatively, there are plenty of local private taxis that can be hired.
Sitting on one of the largest plots, this villa has private gardens with lush vegetation including banana and papaiya trees so please help yourself to the fresh fruit when it is in season.
And our local Rental Management Agents can arrange taxis to/from the port, trips to local restaurants, as well as half day / full-day scenic and hiking tours.
The end of stay cleaning is included, although additional cleaning can be arranged for a small additional cost if required.
There is 2 gb upload/download free data usage per week (7 days) during your stay. Extra will be charged at @ 10 euro per gb, taken from the security deposit held and if this is not sufficient, we will kindly request additional funds to cover outstanding amounts. This is due to the very expensive cost of the internet in Cape Verde.
For the following reasons I would not recommend the villa:
1) All rooms were infested with ants.
2) The stove had a gas leak.
3) Very difficult to get a cellphone signal from the villa location.
4) To difficult to get into town since Taxi's do not go by the villa regularly.
5) Empty swimming pool is not fenced which is a safety concern.
6) Grounds keeper named "Fruita" asking me for money to buy food.
7) The shower had no water pressure until the last day of our stay.
8) Jacuzzi tub did not turn on.
Amazing ocean and mountain views! The unit is surrounded by fruit trees, flowers, and green foliage - just lovely!!! Villa Soleil is in pristine condition, stocked with everything one would need during their stay; just bring clothes, a jacket, bathing suit, toiletries and a great pair of walking shoes! The photos featured are accurate. There was no television reception, but a few DVD’s to choose from (VERY limited choice). I suggest bringing some of your own (Note: Made in EU dvd’s only), but trust me: reading a good book, or just listening to the sound of the ocean is a lot better! The Village is well-run by a Manager and Caretakers who are very kind and helpful. The owners were lovely people, they responded quickly to any/all inquiries made. Wi-Fi worked GREAT! The road leading to the Villas is narrow, and guard rails/safety barriers (made from stone) are sporadic, so if you have a fear of heights, any bravery will be EXTREMELY challenged. I am not sure I could have done it had I been aware of the road before arrival, but once there - - it is so worth the trip!!! Drivers and locals are used to the steep incline/decline are fearless, and experienced. There are many places & restaurants in towns below to buy food. I recommend hopping a ride to Povoacao (a short, 5 min. drive away) where you can find everything you may need. This island, in particular, must be one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Santo Antão is the westernmost and largest of the Cape Verdean islands.
It is a beautiful and lush green island with rugged peaks and deep valleys .
Many people are attracted to the islands for the hiking and bird watching, particularly the Ribeiras with the beautiful scenery.
You can appreciate the stunning views with spectacular drives along the coastal roads which provide access to the ravines and gorges containing lush vegetation.
Lombo Branco Village is located about 1.5km up a fairly steep mountain road from Sinagoga and is sign-posted from the main coastal road.
The nearest towns are Ribeira Grande and Paul which provide local services, banks, fuel, supermarkets, restaurants and medical facilities.
There is a small local supermarket 5-10 mins walk away from the village that supplies all the basics.
The tallest mountain is Topo de Coroa, reaching a height of 1,979 m which can afford spectacular views above the clouds.
The island’s main town is Ponta do Sol on the north coast and the ferry port is Porto Novo on the south coast.
