Nice location, nice hotel and nice people :-)

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I are from Paris, 30 years old, and it was our first time in Naxos.

Marco was waiting for us at the port (1h20 from Mykonos, but be careful : boats are often delayed...and sea is not so steady because of the wind) and helps us to rise our luggage to the Hotel. There, Irene proposed us some Loukoum and settled in our room, first floor. We had a view to the sea. All was very clean and simple, a TV, air conditionning, a table, a little bathroom with a shower. Our room were cleaned every day.

The hotel is located in Naxos Chora, near the venetian castle, at 5 minutes from the port by feet. It's rising a bit, but once you leave your bagage you will see the location is very good and peaceful.

In the surrounding, you will find very good restaurants with typical greek food : don't hesitate to lose your way (you will always find your home, it's not a big city), a lovely street and a good table is waiting for you. Restaurants in the port are good too, no bad surprises. We eat for 10-15 EUR per person (drinks included).

Everybody is trying to ease and enjoying the stay : Irene and her husband give precious advise for things to do, Marco invites us to the roof to see the sunset with a glass of Naxos wine, ... Irene speaks English but French a little too.

To be honest (and it's bad), we only did one day trip in the interior of the island to see the Temple of Demeter... We went to the beach every day. You take the bus (every 30 mn, from 7:30 am to 1am, ticket 1.6 to 1.8 EUR depending the destination) and 3 possibilities : Aghios Prokopios, Ana, Plaka. One umbrella cost 5-6 EUR. All are very beautiful, but we prefer Plaka. Two other possibilities : near the port or Ag. Georgios (15 mn walk).

We recommend Naxos for family or people (like us) who want to relax with simplicity. In a word, Naxos is not Mykonos.

The real question : will we go back ? ... Yes, without any hesitation !!!

The Panorama Hotel is ideally located on the slope side of the Venetian Castle right in the heart of the old city. This family run hotel uniquely combines the peacefulness and tranquil view of the Aegean Sea with the exiting nightlife that fills the quaint side streets of the traditional town.

Its fabulous location, just a breath away from Crispi Castle, the Archeological Museum, the Old Marketplace, the island’s small tavernas, the port, and Grottas beach, gives its guests the opportunity to explore and to be a part of life in Naxos both then and now.
