This 6 bed villa for rent in Cotobro, Almunecar is fully loaded for a great family holiday. Amazing views overlooking Cotobro bay and the Marina del Este. From here you can watch the yachts coming in and out of the marina, dive boats, shoals of fish and see the amazing sunsets. We have also seen super yachts as it is a deep water bay sheltered by the west wind. You can see dolphins in the bay and even a dolphin school hunting fish!

Bird watchers will love the hawks, swifts, swallows and blackbirds that fly in front of the house especially in April and May. Free WIFI repeated around the villa. Large private play court and equipment. 5 minute walk to the beach and quality restaurants. From this point you are on the promenade! It is this amazing location that makes Casa Felicidad a fantastic venue for a multi family holiday or celebration. Over 60% of our reservations are for family events such as birthdays or anniversaries.


On entering the villa, there is a large open plan area with hallway, large lounge, dining area with Italian marble floor. The lounge is fully equipped with TV, DVD player, Wii console, SKY and European TV and music system with aux facility so you can play your own music. You can see most football matches and a wide selection of film channels in many different languages. The lounge has an open fireplace if you want to enjoy an log fire in the winter. Next to the lounge there are two bedrooms, Bedroom 1 has a king size bed which has a large 5 piece en suite and direct access onto the outside dining balcony. Bedroom 2 , which is just off the lounge is a twin bedroom (but can be made up as a king-size bed). There is also a separate shower room with WC on this level.

There is a fully fitted kitchen on this floor, complete with two fridges, two freezers, dishwasher, 5 burner cooker, microwave, grill and double oven with external extraction. All the rooms have sea views. There is a large dining table to seat 14. There is a 3 section gas BBQ on the outside dining terrace with a further dining table and 6 reclining chairs.

There is a circular marble staircase taking you to the lower level where there are 4 bedrooms. The first of these bedrooms (Bedroom 3) is a large room with a king size bed with en-suite. There is a sofa bed in this room and is ideal for parents with a couple of young children.This room has direct access to lovely balcony which is shared by bedroom 4, which is also a king size double bedroom. Bedroom number 4 has its own shower room and WC directly opposite the bedroom door. There are soft chairs and settee on the balcony so you can enjoy private moments overlooking the bay.

At the other side of this level are bedrooms 5 and 6. They share a shower room with WC. They also share a balcony with amazing bay views. In bedroom 5 there is a pair of bunk beds with a larger 3/4 double bed (120cmx190cm) on the bottom and a standard single on the top. In bedroom 6 you have two single bunk beds.

There is an additional camp bed and single mattress to accommodate extra children either sharing with parents or sharing with friends in the children's rooms.

The internal walls have air cavities to help insulate the sound between rooms.

There are three different hot water sources and tanks to ensure multiple showers at the same time and to make sure there is enough hot water even if there is a full house.

There is hot/cold air conditioning in all 6 bedrooms and the lounge. There are fitted wardrobes in all the rooms. All the rooms have good views. There is also a washing machine, dryer, iron, safe for your valuables etc.

As you head down into the garden there is a gymnasium with two multi gyms, free weights and a punch bag. The garden is a shady grassy garden with 3 hammocks under two palm trees and a beautiful bay view. On this level there is an electrically heated, digitally controlled swimming pool 9 x 4.5 m, with a pergola over the outside dining area (seats 16). There is a traditional BBQ area, kitchen, shower room and toilet. We have now installed a bed settee and wardrobes in this kitchen area to give an extra double bed if required. Down from this level there is a sports AstroTurf court of over 100m2 (1100 sq.ft). Equipped for basket ball, football, bowls, badminton, golf putting practice etc. Further along this terrace there is a games area with a pool table (150cm x 80cm), table football, electronic dartboard and swing ball. Below this level is a fruit garden with mangoes, grapes, bananas, oranges, prickly pear and oranges. There are also some steps (approx 80) from the bottom of the garden to the beach access road.

There is a garage with free use of 3 bicycles and a two man ocean kayak. There are also children's toys and family board games in the cupboard in the downstairs corridor. Pets may be considered subject to additional damage deposit. You can easily walk to the beach from the house (5 min) and only have to cross one quiet beach road at a designated crossing. You will find the first restaurant at this point on the beach, plus a bar and restaurant at the hotel. Once at the beach you can walk along the promenade and into Almunecar old town (35 minutes) passing numerous bars and restaurants along the way.

The best points of the house are the outstanding views, the facilities for everyone to enjoy from children to grand parents, the stunning sunsets especially May/October and November. The easy access down to the beach and along the promenade passing dozens of bars and restaurants. The heated swimming pool..........lovely. As Cotobro nestles in a relatively undeveloped area the night sky is fantastic and you can enjoy the clearly visible Milky Way and shooting stars, which were our best memories at the house especially in January and August.

We have taken away all expensive art and ornaments so parents do not have to be afraid to relax and let their children play.

This house has proven very popular for family reunions and celebrating special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.

Baby sitters and chefs can be arranged as well as specialist cake makers and hairdressers to make an event or occasion extra special.

This house is designed to be fun for the whole family from 2 to 102 and is a house of happiness for all ages, hence its name Casa de Felicidad which actually means House of Happiness. Come and see for yourself!

About Nick Westby

The property was our family home and has seen many family gatherings over the years. We now live and work in the UK but still enjoy holidays at the villa. Feel free to call us with questions or even just to get to know more about us. We do not use management agents and we handle all bookings directly. We have a local family taking care of the house who we have known for over 10 years and they are on hand for any support you may need.

Why Nick Westby chose Costa Tropical

We travelled throughout Spain looking for a place to live. We had lived in France for a while but found the climate warmer and drier and the friendliness of the Spanish people appealing. After 2 years exploring all the Spanish coastline we decided on Almunecar, because of its micro-climate, culture and natural beauty. This property was perfect for our needs as we were close to the beach and to the promenade. You can walk into town in 35 minutes along the beach front. You are only 55 minutes to Malaga airport and 75 minutes to the skiing village in the Sierra Nevada. The views from the lounge and 5 of the 6 bedrooms are across a beautiful bay and to the Marina. You can also see the beach. We often see shoals of fish and dolphins in the bay. I keep an eye on other villas to see how we compare on price and on facilities and we improve the house every year. I believe you will find it very difficult to get a better venue in a better location with a better view at this price anywhere in Portugal, France, Spain or Italy.

What makes this villa unique

This house has something for everyone. Big pool, lots of sunbathing terraces, grass area with hammocks, 100m2 sports court, play equipment, gymnasium (with weights punch bag multi gyms). Without a doubt the biggest selling point is the views and the proximity to the beach and the promenade to walk into town. As we property professionals say LOCATION is the most important and this property is in a perfect location. Just high enough for an amazing view but close enough to hear the sound of the waves. Just 5 minutes walk to the promenade and its bars and restaurants but no noisy traffic or disco music. Everyone is happy at Casa Felicidad from the Grand parents to the parents to the children of all ages.

You are just 50 minutes to the city of Malaga and 60 minutes to the historic city of Granada where you can enjoy the world famous Alhambra and the General Life.The magnificent Nerja caves are just a 15 minute drive.

Simply Perfect

The villa has the most magnificent view of the sea ( photos do not do it justice) is in a great location, close to the beach, bars, restaurants and shops.

The accomodation is first class, very comfortable with excellent facilities.

My kids ( 14 & 12 years) had a fantastic time in the pool and sports court.... the management agent very helpful and easily contactable.

Ideal for a family get together/holiday.

Wonderful Villa, fun for all the family

6 adults and 4 children (aged 1.5 to 6) had an amazing stay at Casa Felicidad in May 2015 (23rd May for a week). The villa has so much to offer, as well as the views and space, the big hit for our kids was the added extra of the football pitch/basketball space. Every night a tournament took place. 5 star all around.

The Costa Tropical region

Granada is in Andalucia and home to the Sierra Nevada ski resort and the Alhambra Palace and Generalife. The Alhambra was recently voted as the eighth wonder of the world. The ski resort is normally open from the end of November to the end of April. The Sierra Nevada has hosted world championship skiing and snow boarding and is less than 1 hours drive to the coast. There are also many bars restaurants, snowboarding park, fixed rail toboggan run, birds of prey etc.

The historic city of Granada is lively and vibrant all year around due to the well preserved architecture and its status as an international university city. Amazingly under-developed and stunning and retaining genuine Andalucian style and charm. A very safe city and region by comparison to other regions of Spain and is very popular with Spanish tourists as well as international tourists all year around. The coastline is called the Costa Tropical and enjoys a genuine micro climate of cooler summer temperatures and warmer winter temperatures, due to its location directly south of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, which protects the coast from cold continental winters and the extreme temperatures of inland Spanish summers. Granada is the only province to still give FREE tapas with your drink so enjoy great cuisine for free. The Costa Tropical has Nature Reserves where you can enjoy breathtaking scenery and exhilarating walks. Seeing Ibex, mountain goats, wild boar and eagles is not unusual if you know where to look. There are great canyon walks with fresh water waterfalls and pools. The area is home to a substantial Marine reserve so the snorkeling and scuba diving is some of the best in Spain with a wide variety of fish and marine life. In brief the Costa Tropical is where mountainous countryside meets the Mediterranean sea. It is green and tranquil with nightlife in the town. A perfect mix.

Almunecar is the resort capital of Granada and was identified as the number one resort for Spanish people to go on holiday (Observer news paper). It is to be the new home of a 7 star hotel resort provided by Banyan Tree Group. Almunecar has a host of activities from a castle, water park , sports facilities (football, tennis, paddle etc), boat cruises, boat hire, best scuba diving in marine reserve, nature walks in natural reserve parkland, cannoning, waterfalls, abseiling , rock climbing, parapenting/hang-gliding, schools (language, flamenco, cooking, art, hang gliding, scuba), great snorkelling, paint-balling, 4x4 adventures, quad bike excursions, archery, etc. There are a choice of horse riding facilities and three golf courses to chose from 15 minutes to 40 minutes drive. There are 5 museums in Almunecar and a castle. They have concerts and jazz festivals in the Botanical gardens. La Herradura ( a village within Almunecar township) is the host to the world famous Segovia classical guitar competition. There is an amazing aquarium with underwater tunnels and sharks. There is a water park just a 15 minute walk along the promenade from the centre of town. Fishing trips can be arranged from the exclusive and beautiful Marina Del Este in La Herradura. There is the old town to explore with its old cobbled streets, Phoenician ruins, Roman ruins, museums, botanical gardens, flamenco shows, famous Bonsai tree exhibition. A wide array of restaurants from giant paella on the beach, to Asian fusion cooking, to cordon bleu quality chefs from all around the world.

Almunecar is famous for its massive firework display and fiesta in August and its huge Easter processions which attracts over 100,000 visitors from all over the world.

With a new motorway network on your door step Almunecar is a gateway to many other places to visit with Nerjas famous caves and balcon just 10 minutes drive, the castle at Salobrena just 15 minutes drive, Malaga town centre just 45 minutes drive, daytrips to Morroco or Gibraltar just 2.5 hours drive, Sevilla and Cordoba less than 3 hours drive.

Refundable Damage Deposit A$519.18

25% payable on booking with the balance plus 300 GBP deposit (or € $ equivalent) being due 8 weeks before arrival date.
The prices include linen and towels, welcome pack free wifi. Clients can get up to £250 cash back as an Energy Efficiency Rebate if water and electricity consumption is low. We do not charge for cleaning if the villa is left as it was found. If cleaning is needed it will be charged at 125 GBP for a standard clean. We reserve the right to charge more if the property is left in a mess.
