L’Orangeraie is a renovated cottage in the hills behind Nice, near to Grasse, set in a former orange and olive grove. It is located in a village called Le Bar sur Loup, which is 15 minutes drive from Grasse. It is a 10 minutes walk to the village which has a good selection of amenities: shops, newsagents, restaurants and cafés.
There are local markets almost every day in the surrounding towns, and many local perfumeries to visit. As we are 30 minutes inland from the coast, this is the perfect setting for a quiet break away from it all. You can drive down to the beaches of Antibes, Cannes or swim in our local river, the Loup which has lots of deep (invigorating!) rock pools.
The cottage is in a very quiet location with beautiful mountains which can be explored by foot, cycle or car. From the cottage you can reach the GR4 on foot, directly from the cottage. The GR 4 is a long-distance walking route of the Grande Randonnée network in France. The route connects Royan with Grasse and connects 13 departments. The river Loup runs through the village is a favorite spot for picnicking, swimming, canyoning etc .
It is also a well-known spot for hang-gliders.
If you like star spotting, the famous Riviera beaches at Cannes or Nice are approx. 40 minutes’ drive away.
In the winter months we are only 35 minutes drive from the small family resort of Gréolières-Les-Neiges and 2 hours from the lively resorts of Auron and Isola 2000.
If you like relaxing on your holiday in the peace and quiet this would make the perfect location for your vacation break!

About Gilbert Giordano
I am a local, born in Antibes and I love my region. I have been busy building our family home for the last few years which has been a challenging project ! We live among a large selection of orange and olive trees which require constant maintenance but is a very rewarding task. I enjoy making products from our harvests. This year I have made a special orange liqueur which was delicious.. I have also started experimenting with developing my own olive oil soap - all bio and no animal fats. My next project is to restore my ancient VW beetle .. but that's another story!
Gilbert Giordano purchased this Cottage in 2000
Why Gilbert Giordano chose Le Bar-sur-Loup
When we visited this property in May, the Orange trees were in blossom and the fragrance was fantastic that was the moment I knew this was going to be our new home!
