My name is Emmanuel. I live in Sarlat. I have got a apartment in the heart of the medieval city, which I rent to the tourist since few years in the summer time , because I work during 6 month in Saint Tropez. So i have got the experience to make your holiday very comfortable with everything you can need. I have bought this house last year in October, because my wife and me had a one year old baby and the Sarlat apartment became too small. So we live now in this house during a part of the winter time. This is the insurance that everything is well done inside? because it is not only a rental house . We did a 5 month renovation of everything inside and outside . All the house is not finished, because there is more than 400 square meters, but we will continue little by little..... What we have already done is perfect to accommodate tourists eager to discover the Perigord in a really comfortable and renovated in order to respect the original atmosphere of this wonderful house . Welcome to you.
Emmanuel Sabatier purchased this chateau / country house in 2012
We are from Paris and we loves grave of this region when we have the discovery. for the baby the life quality here is unique!
The first time we have visited this house, we knew that it was perfectly what we wanted and we visited many before . The village, the residents, the castle, the Dordogne river, the view from the terraces... After a year of research, we were sure that it was this one.
Well, what is there to say, absolutely beautiful, home and surroundings, idyllic in every sense. Would not hesitate to recommend. My Husband and i have spent 10 days in Bise house, feeling very relaxed and chilled. Emmanuel is most welcoming and friendly, speaks good English. As other reviewers have commented, the house has been restored beautifully , a real sun trap on the terrace and the view of the castle . Good local wine bar, Alains, lots of picturesque villages to visit by car which are very close to each other, and nice walks within the vicinity of the house. Hope to be returning next year, many thanks for sharing it with us.
We stayed in Bise in September 2016, and although the house sleeps 4 adults (along with the recent addition of a child's bedroom) there were only the 2 of us. Thee house was plenty spacious enough for us, but may have felt like more of a squeeze if fully occupied.
The house was exactly like the photographs, and Emanuel is right in saying that everything that you need is there. It's clean and well maintained, as it was only developed in 2013 and successfully manages to combine traditional charm with modern features.
All pre-visit communication with Emanuel was responded to promptly, and he was there to meet us as soon as I called him while we were en route. We saw him a couple of times during the week in the village so we always felt that he was on hand for any quick questions that we had.
The village of Montfort is beautifully quiet and this meant that we were able to relax on the terrace in the sunshine each afternoon when we weren't out exploring some of the nearby villages. Montfort is a perfect location to use as a base, and although it attracts visitors it's nowhere near as busy as others. Each day we walked down to the boulangerie/pattiserie for croissants, and on our last evening we ate at Angelus de Montfort, which is quite literally a minute's walk away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful to stay in the Dordogne.
My only suggestions for Emanuel to make this home truly stunning is to upgrade the linen, to include white fluffy towels, and crisp white bedding and a duvet.
We have just completed our second two week stay in this property (and have booked again for next year). The location is delightful and the house is very well equipped in terms of bathrooms and kitchens and all are fitted out to a high standard. The outdoor terrace is where we spent most of our "at home" time dining there from breakfast through dinner on many days. Charlotte and the other local neighbours are delightful.
Montfort is well located for visiting the various sites of the Dordogne e.g. Domme, Jardins d'Eyrignac etc. The local supermarkets are only 15 mins away in Sarlat and the village of Montfort has a number of restaurants and now has its own Boulangerie. There are lots of walking, biking and canoeing opportunities in the immediate vicinity.
For dinner, we would recommend Villa Romaine in Carsac (10/15 mins) and, for a real treat, lunch on the terrace at Chateau de la Treyne (50 mins).
One of the most comfortable and beautifully finished properties we have had the pleasure to stay in. Emmanuel made us feel very welcome, bottle of wine on the terrace made for a perfect start to our stay in the Dordogne.
Montfort is a lovely quiet location with views of the castle adding to the overall ambience.
Can't recommend this property highly enough. A real home from home.
We stayed in this house for two weeks which is situated in the little village of Montfort which stands at the base of a beautiful chateau. The House itself is spacious and very comfortable and has been sympathetically brought to the 21 century while preserving many of the very old features. The village itself has been reclaimed and each cottage has been beautifully updated with similar taste, but maintaining a medieval atmosphere.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time, we found the local restaurants to be excellent and the villagers friendly and helpful. There are plenty of local activities to enjoy, including Kayaking along the beautiful Dordogne river, Cycling ( there is a safe and scenic Greenway route), not to mention visits to the very many beautiful chateaux and ancient villages in the area.
We would highly recommend this as a peaceful and relaxing holiday destination and we were most grateful to Emmanuel, for his help and attention.

The property was excellent, everything we would have wanted for an excellent holiday in the Dodogne, the attention to detail within the property was amazing, we would love to stay there again and wished that we had booked for longer this time. Well done, the owners of the property Emmanuel and Stephanie were very helpful and friendly.
Next to one of the most beautiful Perigord castle, near the Dordogne river, near Domme , 5 km away from Sarlat.
