Lovely, quiet, perfectly placed

  • 5 of 5

I rented this cottage for a month to finish a book I was working on. It has lovely views, is walking distance to the beach and there are great hill walks through the Burren right out your door. Mary, the owner, lives a short walk away, and was a great and thoughtful hostess. There's a typical pub a short walk away, but shop the farmers' market in Ballyvaughn or the supermarket in Ennistimon and cook up a storm in the beautiful new kitchen. There is another cottage next door and a few others on the road, but this a quiet spot, with more cows and horses around than people. The place is brand new, and tastefully appointed. Of course, the weather in this part of Ireland involves a lot of rain, so be prepared for that.

Beautiful, remote, relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and I very much enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. The cottage itself was comfortable and very well equipped from the kitchen to laundry facilities. Of course, there is a nice pub in walking distance. And Mary was very helpful - thanks for the milk and jam!

The setting is stunning. The Burren, the sea, the view of the Aran Islands....all spectacular! We had a great day cycling around the largest Aran Island, touring the ruins, shopping, even fishing. Another day the weather was wet and blowy - a great day to stay nestled in the cottage, sip tea, and watch the weather blow across the sea.

We enjoyed our visit very much and look forward to visiting again!

Blissful Stay in Fanore

  • 5 of 5

We had a blissful week, staying in this beautiful cottage! We were five all together, but there was plenty of room with a huge kitchen and lovely dining room and living room, both with epic views of the ocean. Mary, the owner, lives a short distance away and she was so helpful whenever we needed anything.

The cottage is very tastefully decorated, including the beautiful master bedroom, which also has stunning views of the ocean and the Aran Islands. The first few days we didn't have a car, but we walked the kilometer or so to Fanore where we ate delicious seafood at O'Donohue's pub and caught 350 bus to our various adventures.

The cottage is perfectly located with many things to see and do nearby. The beach is within walking distance, where there's even a surf school. We also rode horses through the Burren, visited Aillwee Cave and Bird Center, Poulnabrone Dolmen, the Cliffs of Moher, of course! Truly an epic stay in an epic place!

Beautiful views, lovely cottage, wonderful host.

  • 5 of 5

This cottage by the sea was perfect for our first trip with our baby girl. We enjoyed the sweeping sunset views, 1 mile drive to the beach, huge well equipped kitchen, and 20-30min drives to many attractions. It was so lovely and we would highly recommend it. Oh and we learned to make cappuccinos in the machine provided too!

So very beautiful!

What can I say about this house that hasn’t already been said??!! In getting info about the house, David was very responsive. His mother Mary was wonderful—so kind and attentive (what a wonderful mother you have, David!). We had a few discussions during our week’s stay and I enjoyed her!

The house is big, the kitchen wonderful, the area quiet but close to many attractions. It was my husband’s 60th birthday and I arranged friends to come and a house concert by local musicians! The space was perfect and we had a party with 16 people, plus the 3 musicians. No problem!! Then there were walks up the hill and walks to the beach and many walks to the pub down the little side road. That was key—I didn’t want to be driving while drinking and here, I had the best of both worlds: good beer, good food, good music and a gentle amble home.

One key thing to keep in mind: The space is perhaps ideal for families. We shared the space with another dear couple and we made it work fine but the full bath was accessible via the master bedroom.

I would return in a heartbeat. I envy the people who have watched their children grow up here.
