Built in 1889, this home is a historic Victorian property in a private and convenient Narragansett Pier location. A stone's throw to Sprague Park, which is a great family park and playground, makes this home an ideal spot for families. The half-acre tree-lined property has a huge backyard and accommodates parking for 6 cars. The outdoor shower, wrap-around porch, deck, and Weber gas grill make this home a great summertime retreat or offseason destination for a weekend get-away. With over 2800 square feet of living space, you're sure to have plenty of room to relax and enjoy your time in beautiful Narragansett. The home is completed with updated, modern amenities including wireless internet, large flat screen TV, beach passes, cooler and beach chairs, and everything to make your trip to the beach a great one.

About Joshua Frederickson or David McCue

The home is owned by Dave, Josh, and their wives Val and Molly. Since 2002, they have been carefully restoring the home and learning a great deal about this historic property along the way. The Wheelhouse was once the owned by the railway developer who connected the New York train system to Narragansett by way of trolley car. In the late 1800's horses were still used to pull trolleys. We've discovered several originial horseshoes on the property to prove it! If you appreciate the unique character of Victorian-era homes, you'll understand why we fell in love with Wheelhouse the first day we visited in 2002.

We love spending as much time as we can at the Wheelhouse ourselves, so we make sure the house has all the amenities of home for our guests. This house is perfect for a week near the beach during the summer or offseason where you can put your feet up and lose track of time for a while. With so many great options nearby for dining, the most difficult decisions you'll be making all week are which restaurants to try. If you simply can't decide, we make sure you have all the tools you need to host your own lobster boil, or cook up someting fresh and delicious at home.

What makes this house unique

One of our favorites times of day is just at dusk arrives. After a day at the beach, with the sky beginning to turn, we make a point to gather on the deck and porch every evening to enjoy the last hour or so of daylight together. With the cheers of a little league game not far off, it's easy to appreciate the simplicity of a day at the beach, enjoying each other's company, wishing the sun would stay up just a little longer.

Beautiful property

We stayed here for our daughters wedding weekend. The house is large and clean and well equipped. The property is beautiful and has ample parking. There is a nice park across the street for the kids, short walk to everything else. Perfect location. I am sure I could not have found a better rental. The only thing to be prepared for is if it happens to be a hot day, the fans do not give much relief.

Fantastic Home !

What a great home -- and HUGE! Our party of 12 arrived to the house to find everything exactly as advertised... except it was even more spacious (home and lawn) than we had thought it would be. Nice and clean and everything you needed for a relaxing get away. Thank you Josh and Dave... we had a wonderful family reunion... in great part because of the comfortable stay.

The Wheelhouse was a perfect vacation spot!

We all loved our week at the Wheelhouse! The beach crowds had left and it was still lovely weather for walks on the beach and grilling out on the deck. The house was spotless and really has every possible amenity and plenty space for everyone in our group. We're planning to make this an annual trip. Thanks again for everything Josh and Dave! Oh and try the Princess smoothie at Smoothy Booty in Wakefield - delish!

Great house!

Thank you Josh and Dave for accommodating our extended family at the Wheelhouse. Your house was absolutely perfect for our group. We loved the private location, which was close enough to walk to the beach and to dinner a few nights. Crazy Burger was amazing! The kids also loved the big backyard and the park across the street. We made great use of the beach passes - thank you again for them. We hope to come back again!

Prospect Ave. is directly across from Sprague Park, a picture-perfect family park and playground. The home is a little over a half-mile walk to Narragansett Town Beach down picturesque Narragansett Ave. The location is convenient to all of the sights and amenities of Narragansett Pier and South County. Galilee, which is the fishing port of Narragansett is about 5 miles away where you can buy lobsters right off the boats as they come in. The town of Wakefield is also very nearby, which offers a multitude of restaurants, shops, and ice cream parlors. Narragansett has experienced very successful managed growth with an emphasis on maintaining the classic look and feel of the Pier while welcoming in new restaurants and businesses to make this an ideal place to vacation. Fifteen minutes north of Narragansett is the village of Wickford, which is a scenic and historic harbor that offers shopping and good restaurants. If you are willing to travel 30-40 minutes, you'll discover Jamestown village, on Conanicut Island, which is a great destination to visit. Newport is over the next bridge from Jamestown and is a great place to visit during the summer, with excellent restaurants, lots of shopping, and a harbor that is home to boats and yachts from all over the world!
