Stunning 4 Star Coastal Resort with Pools, Terrace and poolside Cafe/Restaurant

Quality furnished apartment close to beach & village. The large 28 sq.m. elevated veranda features a built-in BBQ with outdoor furniture and views over Burgau village, and the Monchique mountains in the distance. There are 2 bedrooms, one double, one twin. The double, master bedroom has an En-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath/shower, the second bathroom enjoys a new walk in shower - both bathrooms enjoying under-floor heating. Every room leads onto the sunny balcony, but also with air-conditioning throughout the apartment.

Part of the 4-star Domusiberica complex, set in beautifully landscaped gardens overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, with its own exclusive outdoor communal pool having a retractable cover, and a separate childrens splash pool. There is a large terrace, reception area, the newly-opened 'Tomik' poolside café/bar/ restaurant, and also adjoining the pools is a large, fenced, lawn area ideal for ball games and for children to play in safety. The complex is situated on the edge of the village overlooking the beach and adjacent to the National park.

Take a short 5 minutes stroll to the delightful fishing village of Burgau and a further 2 mins down the cobbled streets to the beach. Burgau has a wide selection of restaurants, cafes and bars; whilst also having a BLUE FLAG beach of clean white sand.

Burgau is easy to reach from Faro airport, taking just under a hour on the new A22 motorway. Car hire is very reasonable and enables exploration of the area. For a really relaxing holiday arrive by Taxibus. The village is self contained with small shops and restaurants so a car is not necessary. There is also a small farmers market most days with fresh fruit, vegetables and fish. Lagos is only a short journey away, and the bus service is good, and taxis reasonably priced.

Monchique is a breathtaking rural town, just 20 minutes inland from Portimao on Portugal’s Algarve Coast. Caldas de Monchique is a charming centuries-old spa town - wonderfully peaceful, ideal to enjoy walks and picnics.

Slide and Splash at Lagoa is the nearest water park for the children, and Zoomarine at Guia (near Albufeira),though a little further away, (forty minute drive) is a great family day out - take swimsuits (there are pools as well).

Heading west towards Sagres and further on, are the more exposed beaches of the western Atlantic coast, including beautiful Amado and slightly more deserted Bordeira, with their great surfing conditions.

What makes this apartment unique

From waking in the morning to bright sunshine in the bedroom (if preferred!), walking to the village baker for the fresh bread ( the smell alone evoking marvellous memories), enjoying breakfast on the veranda, and later enjoying a wine in the evening, reflecting on the day, while the sun basks the village as it slowly sets - Perfect!

Relaxing Holiday

The apartment was absolutely perfect. It is fully equipped and there was everything you could possibly need and it was exceptionally clean. There was a warm welcome on arrival and we were shown how to work all the appliances which was extremely helpful. The facilities at the health club were excellent. The situation of the apartment was perfect, a five minute walk to the Village and the beach - which was clean and sandy. It is not overlooked and it is extrememly peaceful and quiet. At night you can see the lights from the village twinkling in the distance. The village has a superb choice of restaurants, a lovely bakery and the locals are so friendly and helpful. It is also a great base for visiting other places. It is an ideal location and I would recommend this apartment to anyone and will certainly be returning next year. If you want a relaxing holiday in good surroundings this is the place for you.

Fabulous apartment!

The property was perfect for our two week stay there. We were met by Ana who showed us around the apartment & explained all the appliances etc. The apartment was immaculate with very comfortable beds, good quality furniture etc. Very well equipped with wifi and smart tv system. This is probably the best holiday let we've rented and is better than the 2 others we saw on the development (we stayed a 3rd week in another apartment in the next block!)

However..... we were a bit disappointed by the complex itself. It all felt quite unloved. The gym has closed down, the grounds around the pool & playground needed maintaining, bins around the pool area weren't emptied for days on end and toilets weren't cleaned very often. On the plus side the Tomik restaurant was excellent.

Owner's Response: Pleasing once again to hear that the apartment was thoroughly enjoyed. The complex is due it's periodic planned maintenance, including full external repaint, and grounds maintenance. We have passed on comments regarding the bins etc. to the Club management, who will we expect take requisite action, and will ourselves monitor , through our property manager.

First Class Apartment

This was our second stay at Steve and Mandy's lovely apartment. It is superb in every way; it is spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable and the balcony is fabulous! Ana and Daniella are marvellous, they are really friendly and always on hand if you need them.

We love Burgau and the surrounding area and Steve and Mandy's apartment is the icing on the cake! Thank you again for a wonderful stay and we hope to be back soon. A big thank you too for the welcome pack, you really do think of everything :-)

Great place to stay.

The pictures were great, but Steve and Mandys Appartment was even better....

We had a warm welcome from Ana who is the local contact and had a wonderful week in the tiny village of Burgau. Not too busy but nice places for dinner and a nice Beach bar. Rental car is a good possibility to explore the surrounding.

We will come back!!!

Excellent standard

We have 7 days in Burgau - this is our 4th visit to the area and this is the best apartment we have stayed in. Great view and the perfect distance to the town.

The Appartment was as described, excellent facilities and spotlessly clean. Situated within easy walking distance to the village of Burgau, where we found several friendly bars and quality restaurants.

Very good information received from owner Steve regarding directions etc and a warm welcome from his Manager on arrival.

Burgau is located 10 minutes drive west of Lagos. It sits on the edge of a National park and is still a working fishing village.

The Blue Flag beach itself is beautifully clean with golden sands and children can play safely under a watchful eye. There is a lovely restaurant at the back of the beach where you can sit and watch the waves roll in.

Burgau is a great base for walking, along the coast to the neighbouring villages of Salema and Luz. Burgau offers a good selection of bars/cafes and excellent restaurants(23 at last count), as well as a variety of activities such as surfing and fishing. Also in the village there is a newsagent, 2 small supermarkets, and a small bakers supplying fresh bread daily.

The historic town of Lagos is only a 10 minute drive away, with quaint cobbled streets, a multitude of varied restaurants and a stunning marina. Lagos is a fantastic town that can certainly be enjoyed by all age groups, with a good nightlife.

WALKING IN THE ALGARVE - In the Algarve there is a large protected coastline which stretches all the way from Sines to Sagres and then eastwards to Burgau. - it is the Cape St Vincent Natural Park. It became a protected area in order to preserve its unique natural beauty and fabulous flora and fauna. This coastline offers a unique walking opportunity, with a varying geology giving different coastal scenery, seascapes and wild life. This is the Algarve as it used to be before any commercial development.

The well used coastal paths can be accessed directly from the apartment, with good routes heading both east and west from Burgau. Going to the left you can get to Luz, then Porto de Mos, Ponta da Piede (lighthouse) and finally to Lagos.

To the right, you join the footpath to Salema. You are now entering the national park and the route offers stunning views and is a wonderful walk. This is totally unspoilt coastline and the walk is wonderful any time of the year, but especially so in spring when it is awash with wild flowers. You will discover hidden beaches for swimming, and sometimes even bars!

Mild, sunny winters make walking ideal from late September through to springtime, whereas the main summer months can be too hot.

The southern sunshine of the western-Algarve provides tremendous enjoyment, away from the crowds, in this beautiful unspoilt corner of the Algarve. Superb for coastal & mountain walking.
