Really good.

  • 5 of 5

The villa and pool were amazing. Such comfortable beds and spotlessly clean. Eileen and Tom were lovely people and so accommodating. The area was very quiet. Very relaxing holiday. Felletin has a very good small Carrefour and a couple of bars. Friday morning farmers' market was excellent and diverse.

Owner's Response: This is so unexpected and really terribly nice of all of you. But I'm afraid it's us that should be writing a review of you. It's always the luck of the draw as to the kind of guests we might be getting and frankly we have been pretty lucky with most of them. But some of them are really outstandingly nice people, and Ken, Glenys and Thelma were certainly up there with the best...if not THE best! You were always cheerful even though the weather was terrible, and explored regions that we hadn't even thought of exploring. And the cherry on the cake was that Ken was so skillful at repairing not only our electrically defaulted pool robot, but the leaky water hose so desperately needing repair. Thanks a million for coming into our lives and making us appreciate some of the better things in life. We wish you and our families all the best of everything. (Drop us a line some time!) Love, Eileen and Tom

May Half Term - Sunshine and Showers

  • 5 of 5

Family of four with two sons who are 11 and 14 had a lovely holiday. Warm days spent relaxing in the garden and cooler days exploring the countryside. House and garden are lovely as is the situation and the surrounding countryside. We cycled into Felletin one morning for coffee and pastries and enjoyed the table tennis table and the pool deck. We enjoyed meeting you both Eileen and Tom and thank you for looking after us so kindly. xx

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for being such lovely guests. It's always good to know that your guests have made the most of their stay by adventuring out and packing in so much in such a short time and you people certainly excelled there. It was lovely meeting you and hopefully you'll think of us for a future holiday. All the Best, Eileen and Tom X

A perfect retreat to unwind and have fun.

Lovely picturesque drive down to Felletin into the heart of France.

La Villeraud is located in beautiful countryside and is very impressive on arrival. The accommodation is lovely and clean with many little extras both inside and out.

We hardly moved from the house with our two teenage children. The weather was hot and we made use of the pool, table tennis, bikes, sun loungers, bbq, terrace and surrounding countryside.

A perfect place to spend quality time with the family.

A wonderful getaway from it all, a secret paradise

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a wonderful week here with our friends what a lovely welcome from our hosts , which (yes ) did include wine .The perfect hideaway to just relax and recuperate from the stresses of everyday life. Nestled amongst beautiful countryside, we got a taste of the real France . The neighbouring towns were a treat to discover, especially the market in Felletin. The property was everything we hoped with all mod cons in the kitchen , a lovely spacious veranda for long sunny evenings which led onto the swimming pool which was lovely and private . Luxury towels always makes a difference thank you Eileen .( who was always on hand should we have needed anything) I hope we will be back soon to explore more of the area .

Owner's Response: What a lovely review! Thank you for being such great guests. I must admit we!re always a bit wary when it comes to leaving your house in the hands of complete strangers, but I was immediately reassured upon meeting you. We!re so glad you enjoyed your stay and that you travelled far and wide to take in all that La belle Creuse has to offer. In fact you discovered places I didn't even know existed. Lovely meeting you all and we hope to hear from you again in the future. Best Wishes, Eileen and Tom O'Hagan

Peace & Quiet

  • 5 of 5

We chose this property because of the reviews and they all acurately reflected what we found. Spacious, well equipped, clean with hosts eager to help, identifying places to visit, book restaurants, etc, if required.

The area is so tranquil we had two weeks of total relaxation, venturing out only to stock up on groceries and pay the odd visit to local sights.

The nearest neighbour was about 150m away but not visible from the property giving total privacy.

We had friends fly out to join us for a long weekend who were equally impressed.

Thankyou for a lovely stay.

Simon, Mary, Michael.

Stunning Property - Lovely Owners

  • 5 of 5

This is a very special property - with very special owners in Tom and Eileen. From the moment we met Eileen on our arrival it was clear that they wanted to do all they could to make our holiday successful and happy; from their care of the pool to their generous welcome pack, and their willingness to provide any help and advice we needed during our stay.

The house itself is exceptional. It's spacious, comfortable and very well equipped and was impeccably clean on our arrival. The heated pool is superb - and lovingly and carefully maintained by Eileen & Tom. They also arranged a beautiful fortnight's weather for us so we could enjoy it to the full!

We have rented many properties in France over the years and can honestly say that La Villeraud is one of the very best. We couldn't recommend it highly enough. It's location, and the fact that it's in such extensive grounds, is perfect for anyone looking for privacy, peace & quiet and relaxation. Eileen & Tom's welcome, warmth and friendliness was a real bonus.

Many, many thanks.

The Creuse is known as France's best kept secret. For those who love or are looking for 'La France Profonde,' the Creuse is the answer.

This rural department has activities which suit a large number of interests. There are two very large lakes within a half an hour's drive from the house. Lac Vassivière is one of the largest lakes in France and has excellent water-sport activities...water skiing, windsurfing, catamaran lessons,or just pedalo! There is also a very good trout fishing river a short bike ride away.

For horse lovers, Felletin boasts one of the largest and well managed equestrian centres in the Creuse.

In season there is ample opportunity to do both cross-country skiing, just 7 miles away, and alpine skiing at the famous Mont Doré ski centre about 30 miles away.

Because we are surrounded by forests and woodland, the forestry roads are in abundance here and make wonderful cycling paths,(we supply the bikes!)

Both Felletin and nearby Aubusson abound with historical places of interest....tapestry museums, medieval churches and chateaux for those curious about the cultural heritage of the region.

As well as having shops to provide your every need, Felletin has an excellent traditional market every Friday...not to be missed!
