New cabin on 9 Acre property bordering Glacier Park/Flathead River
About Sue MacLean
We're from Canada and we bought this property after years of searching for the perfect spot, well we found it!! We come down to Montana a fair bit but decided to share it with others as we can't be down here on a full time basis.
Why Sue MacLean chose Essex
I first discovered this spot as a teenager when my dad used to take me rafting on the Middle Fork of the Flathead. There is something magical about this place and if you've ever been to this area I'm sure you would agree. We love to hike, fish and raft in the summer and snowshoe in the winter. This is our year round playground!! The mountains, wildlife and endless activities you can do are at your fingertips.
What makes this Cabin unique
Location location location. You'll find very few properties that are on the Middle Fork of the Flathead which borders Glacier National Park. We are 24 miles from the West Glacier Park Entrance and 35 miles from the East Glacier Park entrance. There area also hundreds of thousands of acres of Great Bear Wilderness directly across the highway so you can pick your playground!!
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before arrival date.
A little slice of heaven
My wife and I stayed here the end of August when the Glacier fires were going strong and some of the park was shut down. It was sweet serendipity that we spent more time around this acreage than we would have - the simplest compliment I can give the owners is that "many of our most memorable times issue from the hands of generous strangers". We spent some very precious times down the hill on the river. We saw two whitetail bucks on hind legs boxing each other. An eagle flew up the river valley looking for a meal. I soaked up the sunshine on the front patio while readying my fly rod for the next attempt to hook into Montana's state fish, the Westslope cutthroat trout or even a Bull trout, only a mere minutes down the hill. The privacy part was well thought out, making use of a thick stand of pines between the two homes. Even so, consider your self fortunate to meet the owners if they are there - they treated us so special we count them as yet another set of Canadian friends that might have me rooting for the Maple leaf 2nd to the US in the next Olympics. The cabin is cozy perfect for a couple. My wife stated what I was thinking on the last evening - "I feel so comfortable here, like it's mine". It is my new benchmark for any rental.
Thank you both for the kind review. It was great meeting you and we hope to see you again!
Clean and comfortable and well located for exploring the area.
The 1 bdrm property is set up nicely and the full kitchen and bathroom with washer/dryer make it a great base for a vacation. Sue is easy to work with and we really enjoyed our stay.
Everything you'd hope for and more....
This little cabin is located fairly equidistant to both the East and West sides of the Park. It is beautifully appointed and was the perfect getaway for summer and our first time in Glacier! I can't say enough about Sue's responsive communication. We hope to be back!
Beautiful and peaceful
We loved the quiet of the cabin! It was just the thing for a remote adventure.
Beautiful setting! Stunning home! Great owner!
I absolutely loved this property. The home is beautifully designed and comfortable, comfortable, comfortable! It has the most well appointed kitchen that I have stayed in. The enormous picture windows in the living room are fantastic for viewing nature. It has a great mix of modern conveniences and lovely antiques. If you are looking for a one bedroom rental near GNP, look no further, book this immediately. It is new on the market and as the word spreads, this will become more difficult to book. I can’t wait to return here for another stay.
Serene Cabin Experience
If you're looking for a place to disconnect from reality, this is it. It offers peace and quiet still within range to many activities. If you're looking for things to do, many are only a hop, skip and a jump away, however, I'd recommend just taking it all in. Morning coffee looking out the massive windows into the forest often provides entertainment in the form of birds, squirrels and the odd deer. At night, the fireplace is sure to keep you toasty with a good book to read or movie to watch. The amount of detail put into the cabin is felt as soon as you walk in the door. If I could give it more than five stars I would, the owners have done an excellent job, cannot wait to go stay again!
The world is at your fingertips whether you want to explore Glacier National Park from either the East or West Glacier entrances, whitewater raft down the Middle Fork of the Flathead, throw your line in one of the beautiful fishing holes below our property, golf at nearby courses, visit the historic Izaak Walton Inn or just sit back on the deck and take it all in!
