Cozy and Quaint - so much to do!!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is so cozy. It is well appointed, clean and cared for. Plenty of space for four, although we were only two. Everything we needed was with the apartment and a grocery in Ribeauville was close and had great selection including organic, gluten free and freshly prepared items.

Monique is a pure delight!! She is so sweet and genuine in her care and concern for your enjoyment of your stay. She tolerated my broken French and answered questions that we had or shared info with us. Adored her!

In Riquewihr, recommend visiting La Grenouille restaurant for frog legs, and Winstub Zimmer for tarte flambée or tartiflette. There is also a cheese cellar but I forget the name. Great cheese though!

If you get a chance to take in a local festival or fete (in any of the nearby towns), we recommend doing it. It's a great way to experience Alsacian culture!

Recommend venturing out to see Haut Koenigsbourg and also Struthof - KL Natzweiler. Both involve beautiful drives in the mountains and are close enough for half day trips but give yourself enough time to enjoy. Struthof is not for young active children however - it is quite somber and reflective, and the environment is very quiet. There's also a chocolatier (Daniel Stoffel) just outside of Ribeauville. They have a pretty neat set up for education and tasty treats. Worth a pop in.

(Thank you to Monique and Stephanie for an awesome ten days!! We loved it!)

Absolute perfection!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at La Lavandiere for five nights in July-- I wish we could spend a lifetime there!

Every single detail was absolutely perfect.

Stephanie, the property manager, was attentive, kind, and professional; Monique, our contact in Riqeuwihr, was warm, funny, and helpful. Every interaction I had with them was pleasant. This made the planning easy and our stay free of problems.

This apartment has off-street private parking and I cannot stress how wonderful that is in a busy little town like Riquewihr!

The street the apartment is on is so charming. You are surrounded by the beautiful houses typical of the region, but set back from the main road a bit. When we arrived, I felt like I was in a dream. The streets and buildings are out of a fairytale. The location is convenient as well-- an excellent casual brasserie, Le Grognard, is in the cellar, another excellent restaurant, A La Grappe D'Or, is half a block away, and all of Riquewihr's other restaurants are no more than a ten minute walk away.

The apartment itself is perfect as well. It was just the two of us but there would be plenty of room for kids. The master bedroom was large with windows on two sides and colors that match the Alsatian homes outside-- lots of closet space too. The dreamy twin bedded second bedroom made me wish my parents had taken me to Riquewihr when I was a child! The living space and kitchen were roomy and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with a small fridge, full range and oven, mini dishwasher, basic cooking supplies (oils, vinegars, salt, pepper), appliances (microwave, coffee maker, kettle, etc. etc.!), utensils, and pots, pans, etc. There is a separate toilet and shower and a washing machine that was a necessity for us after traveling for a week beforehand. Everything was pristinely clean.

The house has been decorated in calming and whimsical decor. Every detail is exactly what I would imagine a dream apartment in France would look like, from the bedding to the wall art to the furniture. The huge windows and their beautiful dressings provide frames for the gorgeous neighborhood scenery you see when you look out. We truly felt like we were coming home each time we entered the door.

Riquewihr is an ideal base for your Alsatian adventures. There is a plethora of wonderful restaurants and shops. Strolling the beautiful streets is a memory that will last forever! Thank you Stephanie and Monique!

Warm and wonderful cottage in Riquewihr.

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful cottage was exactly as described, everything we needed for a great holiday was there. It was situated centrally in Riquewihr with its own carpark close by. The cottage was clean with all amenities provided. The owner and house manager were very helpful and friendly. Riquewihr was a perfect little town to spend time in. We would definitely go back again. Wonderful Accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough positive about the Washerwoman Apartment. It is beautiful and comfortable and has anything you might need. The pictures very accurately present what the actual apartment looks like. In addition, its location can't be beat in Riquewihr. I recommend it highly. In such a popular area, having private parking was a big benefit. It's in a wonderful position from which to explore the Wine Route of Alsace. Stephanie was very friendly, responsive and helpful.
