The house has four bedrooms with room for up to 11 people. (If the sofa bed is counted, there are two additional berths). There is a broad bench in the sauna room to relax. The house and garden is also very suitable for dogs, the garden is omhekt and large (3,000 square meters). The house has a lovely atmosphere.
Recently (2013), there is a beautiful fireplace built into the living room, there is placed a beautiful oak staircase, and there is a small bar in the kitchen between two pillars.
Helemaal TOP
This is a fine place to enjoy your vacation. It has a cozy feeling, amazingly equipped, as if a friend has lend you his home;the owner, who was very cooperative and informative and great to correspond with. Practically beside your personal staff and a car you and your precious ones need nothing. We were two families with 6 kids and all had great time. We used two double bedrooms (one upstairs and the other downstairs) for the parents, and one big room upstairs for all the kids, who enjoyed living together. The house is a good starting point to many trips nearby. It is wonderful to see the castle from it. Hope you too will enjoy it. Dr. Assaf. Modiin. Israel
We were looking for somewhere to get away from Vienna and this place fit the bill perfectly! A few hours drive and there we were in a lovely town in the mountains. the house is great and is fitted with everything one might need. The fireplace will keep you toasty on chilly nights and the yard is totally fenced in and big -- our dogs loved it and we enjoyed sitting out in the sun sipping wine gazing at the mountains and the castle - fantastic! There is plenty to do from hiking directly from the house to mountain biking and more rigorous hiking a short drive away. don't miss the castle in town or sipping a beer and tasting some local goodies at the tavern/brewery right below the castle. Can't wait to go back!
I am very grateful for finding this beautiful house. Our company consisted of three generations with ages ranging from 0 to 75 years old and all of us felt comfy and cozy in this home. We had fun and will keep in memory views of the valley and forest from salon windows, cozy evenings next to fireplace, smell of the wood in nicely hot sauna... I also have to add that Ruud, the owner of the home, has been very friendly and answered all of the questions we had while planning vacation. This really helped us to save time and energy. We'll be back.
We stayed 8 people (6 adults) and two dogs for almost 14 days, and had a great Holiday in this beautiful part of Slovakia. The house is well equipped, and the manager keeps the house clean and nice. The fenced garden is perfect for small children and dogs.
Be sure to visit the Orava Podzamok Castle, and try a trip on the river rafts.
The house overlooks one of the most beautiful and best preserved castles in Slovakia, which is two kilometers away. The detached house is situated between the mountains, at the foot of a hill in the village Oravsky Podzamok in the Orava region, named after the river that runs through it.
Orava is the most wooded area in Slovakia, between the famous ski and hiking area of the Tatras and the Fatra, ideal for a relaxing holiday. Ski trails are located all within a radius of 10 kilometers, and in the village itself, with a total of 7 km. piste. At 30 km. distance is for the more experienced ski enthusiasts the Tatra Mountains with longer runs. There is often natural snow, but there are also snow cannons. The summers are very beautiful, with an average temperature of 25 degrees, and almost always sunny (continental climate). Because the house is secluded, it is very quiet. At 10 km. distance one can find second-largest lake in Slovakia. There may be trips to an island in the middle. There are also 'beaches' to swim or surf.
One attraction of the village is the castle of Orava, which is 10 minutes' walk away, and where sometimes the evening festivities to do, music or theater. (The castle can also be simply visited). In the village there are also a couple of tennis courts (clay), restaurants and cozy cafes. Next to the castle is a small museum and there is a wooden church in the village. There are some shops to do the groceries, but Dolny Kubin has a wider range. There are also in this town a cinema, sauna, swimming pool, cozy town square, hospital, stadium, etc. There are many walks in nature, marked trails. In the area (approx. 30 km. Away) there are several mineral pools with healing water from the earth (38C) and a waterfall 100 meters high. The area also attracts many anglers due to the clean river water. You can go skiing, with slopes of varying difficulty, and there are ski schools.
At about 30 km there is a thermal pool with slides (Oravice, highly recommended). Above all, there are many hiking trails (actually across the region Orava), which are well marked with trails. Hiking maps of the area can be left on request. Hiking trails start at the village (the castle start multiple paths), but also in the Tatra Moutains Fatra- and it is stunning.
The village has built a new arena in 2010, together with seven kilometers length ski on the slopes. With a cable car going up. Down the slope, there is a cozy restaurant, rental of skis and ski boots.
