Just WOW
To David, Jennifer, Belemy, the many sheep, the little birds, woodpecker and pheasants .... thank you allow us to share your place of absolute bliss. The digital detox was a bonus! We were welcomed on arrival by David to a gorgeous stone cottage already warmed by the log fire. The super king size bed .... well, i have no words ♥️. We will not only return... we will also recommend to anyone who wants to just get away from it all. Thank you 👩🧔‍♂️🐶

Idyllic retreat for our family over Christmas
It was our second stay at Girnwood over the Christmas holidays and like our first visit, this cottage very much feels like a second home to us. The cottage is warm and cosy with a fully equipped & spacious kitchen - which made Christmas diner cooking so easy. I particularly enjoyed watching the sheeps grazing in the fields from the large kitchen’s window while listening to Christmas carols on the radio. The location is idyllic & so peaceful with acres of green spaces & countryside to explore by foot. My teen & child particularly enjoyed spending time outdoors with the caring cottage’s owner Jennifer learning about the farm animals & surrounding wildlife, feeding carrots to the friendly horse and watching the shepherd dogs leading herds of sheep to new pastures. We also saw pheasants, a variety of wild birds & hares during our walks. The weather was very unsettled but nevertheless- we had a fabulous and relaxing time. There is no WiFi which was a bliss to us. There are a lot of interesting books for all ages & family games to play. We hope to be back again very soon.

Hidden gem
We had such a lovely cosy stay at Girnwood Cottage. The fire was already lit for our arrival and the owners couldn’t have been more welcoming. The location and views are just stunning yet the cottage is still within easy access of Hawick. Although we had some pretty windy weather during our stay we would never have known it from inside the cottage. We were even greeted by a lovely Christmas tree and decorations. Thank you both very much for making our short stay so comfortable, we wished we could have stayed longer!

Idyllische, ruhige Unterkunft
Die Landschaft und die Ruhe sind unglaublich toll. Die Gastgeber nett und hilfsbereit. Die Unterkunft sehr abgelegen. Wer es ruhig und die Natur mag ist hier genau richtig. Die Sauberkeit war okay.

We live in the farmhouse, 150 mtrs from the cottage and have run the cottage as a holiday home for over 40 years. My husband grew up with his family in the cottage.

What makes this property unique

It is the remote rural situation that makes this cottage unique. The open views can be enjoyed from the comfort of the sofa in the sitting room. Secluded and private but at the same time the farmhouse where we live is close by should you require us.
