The main building dates from the 16 th century, but the foundations are still older. Important renovations have been made during the 18 th century. Its setting dates from the Gallo-Roman period and Savigny was joined to the famous roman town of Alauma. The old Roman causeway of Cosedia borders the property.
We spent a week as a family group of 25. Property is lovely and very well renovated. Main kitchen is the only negative as it is very small like you would find in a small flat, but despite that we managed ok. Totally child friendly and with nice grounds for the children to roam
With 22 other family members from Germany, England, Spain and The Netherlands we had the whole property to ourselves for 1 week. Did a lot of dining al fresco, looked for qoypu's in the pond, ate and drank a little too much and totally enjoyed all that this house has to offer.
Rooms all very well renovated; everything works, enough bathrooms so you don't have to wait, good kitchens....
The property is also very easy to reach. In the area you'll find all supermarkets you need, as well as good restaurants and the charming village of Valognes. The coast is nearby. Do go to Nez de Jobourg. Beautiful, and France sort of ends there.
Would I like to visit this property again? Yep!
Property far exceeded expectations in location and quality. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable with a personal touch. Dining area, sitting area and the bar were pristine places to connect with old and new friends and make new memories. The grounds are large, beautiful and a joy to explore. Entire facility is child friendly as well!
Eric was immediately available to keep things running properly - extremely diligent and expedient.
It was truly a pleasure to be hosted in such a lovely place by such a wonderful host.
Thanks - all 23 of us felt the same way!
We had a wonderful experience at the Cherbourg Manor. The property is peaceful, quiet, and spacious. The gardens around the grounds are amazingly maintained. We had 17 people (4 families) and could have easily had space for 2-3 more families. It seems like it's even bigger than the property description. Eric was so helpful and kind. Not all homes are so welcoming to children, & we really appreciated that the kids were welcome to explore the vast grounds. Hints for staying at any cottage: bring your own bath & hand soap, trash bags, zip lock bags for storage, and paper towels. We loved having laundry facilities to use in both the house & cottage. There were plenty of pans & tupperware in the kitchen for cooking meals & storing leftovers. We enjoyed going into Valognes for the town market one morning. The grocery store is nearby (in town) and has plenty to supply your needs. Ask for GPS coordinates to easily find your way to the Manor on the winding country road. If you're wanting to visit the beaches of Normandy, this is a GREAT venue to choose!! We LOVED it here!!
Rented the manor house for 12, with tons of extra room for others. We were amazingly impressed with the property and the home. Well and modernly updated while retaining it's historic chateau charm. Owner Eric is wonderful, friendly and very accommodating--his English is great and he's quick to respond to emails as well as be of help onsite. We highly recommend this beautiful 16th Cent. Chateau--make sure to look at all of the photos and video of property, they are a great representation of the property. Merci Eric!
D-days landing beaches with Utah beach, Omaha beach, Sainte mère l'église.
