About Joanie Paternoster
My husband Steve grew up on the farm where the cottage is located. We married in 1974 and purchased the farm from Steve's parents in 1976 where we have farmed citrus and operated a farm-management business. We raised four children who are now grown , and two of them still work with us in our farm-management business.
Joanie Paternoster purchased this House in 1976
Why Joanie Paternoster chose Terra Bella
Steve's parents first lived in the cottage before they moved to the house where we now live, which is located across the driveway. We had always thought the cottage would be a great little honeymoon, or vacation cottage, so we worked on getting it ready for vacationers.
What makes this House unique
The cottage is in a rural setting, with the sounds of birds singing in the mornings, and frogs serenading at night. There is a huge swing set in the front yard which Steve built. There is also a gypsy wagon designed and built by Steve and Joanie on the cottage property, with a campfire pit, and large picnic table.

What a wonderful place to stay! The cottage was very beautiful, with garden flowers all around. There were fresh flowers, oranges, and delicious bread waiting for us when we arrived. Steve and Joanie were also kind enough to take us on a tour of their citrus groves, as well as the pistachio groves they farm-manage. We learned a lot and had a great time. If you get the opportunity to stay here, we definitely recommend it!
It was a pleasure hosting Justin and Miki! They are appreciative, pleasant guests and we enjoyed showing them the farm. They also left the cottage very clean.
We hope they can visit again sometime!
Joanie is a great hostess and we were as pleased as we can be. We would easily return.
Thank you all; it was a pleasure meeting you and having you stay on our farm!
Best Vrbo experience ever!
It was lovely to be hosted by Steve and Joanie. The cottage was absolutely lovely, cozy and very clean with a beautiful garden. Once you get inside and move around the house, you can see how they have put a lot of thought to take care of every detail to make the stay as comfortable as possible. The surrounding area is really peaceful and quiet with a lot of privacy. There is access to the pool outside and they also put up hammocks for us under the cool shade. The hosts were readily available to assist with our requests. I would recommend it to anyone planning to visit the area. If it is available, just get the place. I am pretty sure you will be very happy with it. Thank you Joanie and Steve for hosting us.
P.S. - The paintings in the house are really beautiful and actually made by the Paternoster family.
To start with, we were greeted with some delicious banana bread and a welcome message. What was surprising that the message was in our native language. It felt really good and gave us a lot of joy. The cottage has two bedrooms with very comfortable beds. There is also a pullout couch. There are two bathrooms with a big soaking tub. The kitchen is very well stocked with coffee, tea and bottled water available for drinking and cooking. Lots of seating areas outside of the cottage if you just wanna chill on a good day. We were also treated to a guided tour of the gypsy house.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and hope to visit the place again. The best rental experience so far for us!
Oh! Thank you so much! It was a pleasure having you here and we're so glad you enjoyed the garden!
We love staying at the farm cottage and enjoy the tranquillity & beauty of the gardens. Joanie creates such a welcoming environment. We couldn’t ask for a better home away from home when we are on vacation!
Can’t wait to stay here again!
Loved the cherry tree, oranges and the serene relaxed surroundings. The home is so cute and clean with a wonderful lite smell of fresh flowers.
Flowers, Friendly, Family, Farm experience!
Considering that out trip was planned to attend a funeral, our experience could not have been better. The cottage was located on a citrus farm and we stepped into a beautiful experience from beginning to end. The Landscaping was full of blooming flowers, several secluded sitting areas and one larger space for picnics or marshmallows roasts, including a fire pit, chairs and picnic table. The inside was just as delightful. A cozy 2 bedroom with extremely comfortable queen beds, and foldout couch in the living room. We did not open the foldout so I cannot testify to the comfort but I would expect the owners have made that mattress as good as it gets considering everything else they do for their guests. They had an old fashioned soaking tub with 2 showers and big fluffy towels. The linens and pillows were also comfortable and clean. They had shampoo, soap, lotion, blow drier, ironing board, well stocked kitchen supplies and fresh honey, teas, coffee and banana walnut bread. A big bowl with oranges and grapefruit was sitting on the table as well. The owners, Joanie and Steve, live close by and were friendly and generous. My 9 year old wandered all around the farm and visited with Joanie while she showed him the many treasures found only on a farm. She gave him a beautiful birds nest that he took back to share with his class and since he collects rocks, she gave him a beauty from her own collection. Joanie also gave Johnny a water bottle full of tadpoles that he brought home for his old aquarium. My husband enjoyed visiting with both Steve and Joanie and I had to remind him that they probably had things to do besides entertain him but they were both extremely gracious. They also gave us plenty of privacy and it was never uncomfortable having them nearby. There was bottled water on hand for drinking and cooking as well. We are already planning another trip to really experience the area fishing, mountains and just farm life with our older sons when they are home from college. We have stayed at VBRO Homes for years at beaches and mountain locations. But this was the most friendly and comfortable trip that I can remember.
