Wonderful apartment in the center of it all!
The apartment was perfect. It was conveniently situated and walking distance to all major sites, but at the same time the apartment is very quiet on the inside. The apartment was beautifully decorated and had everything one needs. Marta was a treasure! She gave us great guidance on the neighborhood, restaurants and sites. She even left an umbrella for us to use and helped us secure a cab! We had an amazing time and are so appreciative of all she did!
Perfect accommodations for first time in Madrid!
Our first time in Madrid & we had very little in expectations. To simply put it, Marta & her apartment immediately eased our mild nerves with our Spain adventure!
Our flight arrived in the morning, and we finally made it into the neighborhood close to 10am. Unwinding a bit at a mercado until meeting Marta for a prompt 12noon check was perfect. She was there before us & meet us at the front of the building, and was very warm & friendly. She explained all the details of getting into the building & apartment, which is a very secure building. Marta also took the time to explain to us locations (on a map) of the best sites, restaurants, bars, etc to visit. She also followed with an email to me as well with more info of were to go. We were equally impressed how she made sure we had coffee, milk & juice....a very kind & simple gesture that showed she cared for her renters & would be very accommodating in general. And yes, her English is excellent which helps Americans like ourselves who know little Spanish!
The apartment is perfect for a couple & even has a pullout sofa bed. It's very clean, bright & well lit. If you wanted to cook many meals there, you'd be able to. The bedroom was perfect & the bathroom equally good as well (even though the shower might be a bit small by American standards). We were also amazed that even though the area is bustling at night, the apartment is very quiet & you'll forget that you're in such a huge metro.
The location of the apartment is also great, being in the La Latina neighborhood (bordering on the Lavapies neighborhood as well). La Latina is amazing...great restaurants, bars & tapas everywhere you turn. There's a nice supermarket very close, and others within 5-10 min walk. This location was also ideal to us because we walked everywhere to see Madrid (maybe about 35 minutes being our furthest walk). Even if you need to go to another train station (like Chamartin when we did a day trip to Sergovia), it was an easy 25 min uber ride just like it was from the airport.
One word of advice to other new travelers (especially Americans)....please don't think anything of the graffiti in the area (like on the metal garage doors etc). The area is beautiful & filled with tons of culture....graffiti does not mean same thing in the States as it does here in Madrid.
So go for it with the Green apartment...it was wonder & thank you Marta!
Cosy place in central Madrid
We stayed at the green apartment for 4 days and it was a wonderful experience. Marta had explained the check-in process in detail and she was at the apartment to greet us and show around the apartment which is small but has everything you need for a small family. It is close to two metro lines, we used La Latina (Line 5) which is 5min downhill walk from the apartment. Tirso de Molina (Line 1) is similar distance. Plaza Mayor is around 10min by walk, the Royal Palace is about 15min and a wonderful Tapas joint on the way in between. One supermarket just below the apartment, lots of eating places, Burger King, Taxi stand within 5min radius. The Sunday flea market is downstairs.
Marta took time to go through the map, tell us about the do's and dont's, explained the metro map, provided her restaurant recommendation which has definitely handy and made sure we are absolutely comfortable.
To top if off,she checked later in the evening over whatsapp if we needed any help. Really wonderful host and we couldnt have chosen a better place for our Madrid stay. Definitely recommend for young families and couples, bigger groups might look to book the two apartments (the pink one is just next door).
Wish to come back again in few years time.
Nice apartment in old Madrid
Marta is a lovely person who spent time with us giving advise covering all the basics for a stay. Cultured, nicely behaved and friendly. Nice flat in old Madrid away from the buzz, just what you need after a busy day, quiet at night. Thank you, Marta
The description, location, and place were as described. Marta welcomed us with great joy, useful information, and keys to our home in Madrid. Although we stayed for only four days, the place offered us all that we needed and a great location. We sadly learned that as we were enjoying the apartment, we contributed to the rising cost of housing in Madrid.
We're glad to know that you enjoyed your vacation. My place is very well located and I love to make feel my hosts like at home.
This type of short term rental doesn't contribute to increase the price of the long term rental because it just represents less than 1% of the rental apartments. The problem is the 10% of empty apartments . Everybody wants to live in the center and the prices increase. The rent is an economy activity to wich laws of supply and demand apply.
The tourism represents 10% of Spanish GDP. The tourism gives us our bread!! Thank you for visiting Spain.
Well located in the city centre of Madrid, in the heart of El Rastro, famous sunday street market. 5 minutes walking from Plaza Mayor, Royal Palace and Opera house. The Prado Museum, Reina Sofía Museum and Thyssen Museum are 20 minutes walking.
It´s a very lively zone with a lot of restaurants and tapasbars.
you can find all the services ( medecin doctors,...) offred in a big city. It´s perfect to visit Madrid without the subway or the bus. The nearest metro station is Latina.

I TRY TO OFFER TO MY GUESTS THE SAME THING I´D LOOK FOR WHEN I TRAVEL. I STUDIED HISTORY OF ART, SO I KNOW WHAT MADRID CAN OFFER TO YOU ( MUSEUMS, MONUMENTS,...)
Marta Rodrigo purchased this Apartment in 2013
Why Marta Rodrigo chose Centro
I WAS LOOKING FOR A FLAT LOCATED IN THIS ZONE WHERE YOU CAN ENJOY MADRID. IT´S A FAMOUS AND LIVELY AREA WHERE YOU CAN APPRECIATE HOW THE MADRILENES LIVE.
What makes this Apartment unique
YOU CAN FIND THE PUERTA DEL SOL, THE PLAZA MAYOR, THE SAN MIGUEL GOURMET MARKET, THE ROYAL PALACE, THE OPERA HOUSE AND THE MOST IMPORTANT MUSEUMS WALKING. THE BUILDING IS LOCATED IN THE ARTISTS STREET OF EL RASTRO ( SUNDAY STREET MARKET). IT´S FUNNY TO VISIT IT ON SUNDAY. THE APARTMENT IS SUNNY, WITH GREATS VIEWS AND SPECIALLY QUIET.
