About Mike & Leslie Luttig
We had been coming to paradise for over twenty years and decided that this is where we wanted to retire. We moved here from Wisconsin in 2015. And now we want to help other visitors come and enjoy this beautiful island and all it has to offer. Our first trip to the islands was in 1989. At the time, I had just turned forty, was a bit frustrated with my career, and not necessarily looking forward to the next twenty-five years. The rest of the family had gone on a pontoon boat tour of Napali Coast and I decided to take a walk. I had never been to Ke'e Beach. It was a two plus mile walk, and during the time it took me to walk there, we had a couple of mauka showers. I was a bit damp when I arrived at the beach. And while you would never know it today, I think I was the only person on the beach. I walked about two hundred yards back down the beach and turned around, and there were the cliffs with sun shining on them through mist blown off of the ocean. The view was perhaps the most spectacular thing I had ever seen. I sat down on the beach and just stared at the cliffs for a long time, lost in thought. It was then that I decided that I did not have to spend the rest of my life doing something that did not make me happy. By the time we returned to the mainland, I had already decided that I was going to go back to school and go a different direction. I have never looked back. Over the years, we have returned to the island many times, dreaming that maybe someday we would be able to spend more time here. And then by chance, we had an opportunity we could not refuse and when we retired in 2015, were able to move here permanently. This mesmerizing, life changing beautiful island is now our home. And now, I hope that somewhere out there, someone who is in a similar place that I was in 1989, might come here and experience what I did.
