Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you for making our break in Normandy so memorable. The house is perfect for a Normandy holiday, very comfortable and everything we needed. We loved spending an evening on the patio with some wine and walking in the nearby woods and the small villages in the area. We would recommend the local markets in Avranches and Villdieu. This is a great house and location and we would love to return one day.

Fantastic House, fantastic holiday

  • 5 of 5

The owners sent us a really good pack with lots of information - a good idea and we hadn't had that before. The cottage is clean, well presented and the bedrooms are really sweet and well stocked. We enjoyed the wood burner fire as we don't have one at home, but remember to get logs. My children loved playing in the orchard, and there were some kids DVD's and books to read which saved space for us. Overall a lovely house, cosy and decorated with some lovely French touches. Make sure you take a trip to Mont Saint Michel - outstanding. We will return to La Tullerie thank you Mr Tuck.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice words Joe, it was lovely to have you all stay at La Tullerie. Not many folks read the books, so it's good to hear they had a benefit. We love La Tullerie and are delighted you all did, so please come back soon and as ever there's a warm welcome.

French country charm

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful farm house that has all modern conveniences but still retains its original character and charm.

Large bedrooms, comfy beds and heating in each room. Plenty of pillows, doonas etc.

Loved curling up on the couch in front of the wood fire at night times!

Would definitely love to have another stay here.

The Best of Normandy

  • 5 of 5

Normandy is so beautiful place. This holiday house of La Tullerie was a perfekt base for my family to make a holiday in this region. This house is very cute with many things to like very much. There are many good things for the cooking and for the washing of the clothes. It is great to sit in the outside with some wines and food. We are receiving good informations for things local to this house from the manager. Please visit Mont Saint Michel, so beautiful place.

Owner's Response: Witaj Tomasz, wielu dziękuję za przegląd domu! Thank you for the kind words about our cottage. I am really delighted that you had a good holiday and that our recommendations were good ones for you and the family. I agree that Mont Saint-Michel is unmissable, but so are the wonderful markets and side tasting locally. You are always welcome, Polish guests are always some of our favourite.

Outstanding Place!

  • 5 of 5

What a fab place! Cozy, traditionally French with all the modern stuff folks need for a great stay. The beds were comfortable and we loved sitting by the fire with a glass of wine. There is real peace here and it helped make our Normandy pilgrimage a real pleasure.

We loved it fabulous house and area.

  • 5 of 5

What a delightful spot. Tucked away off a small lane, La Tullerie is rather special. There is lots we loved, the wood burner that's so cosy, the sweet bedrooms and the orchard. We have two little ones who loved going into the orchard and picked the apples - the owner suggested that we cook with some of them and we made an apple pie with Calvados! The owner (Mr Tuck) was really helpful with information on the local markets and Mont Saint Michel, and we loved both. We will definitely return next year, so it's highly recommended - but bring an alarm clock as the total peace means oversleeping!

Comfortable home away from home

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is very nice and comfortable. Located in a rural area, just out from town, it worked well as a base to explore Normandy. The D-Day beaches, Bayeux and Mont St Michel are approximately an hour's drive (plus or minus 15 minutes). We enjoyed coming "home" after a day out and being able to relax and cook in if we wanted. The cottage is well equipped and has all the basics for a stay of a week or more. We highly recommend the cottage and would gladly return. The owner and local managers are excellent about communicating and answering any questions about the cottage.

This lovely traditional Normandy cottage and orchard, set in secure grounds planted with apple, pear, peach and plum trees off a quiet country lane - secluded but close to the market town of Brécey - offer the perfect base for exploring Normandy's many attractions.

La Tullerie, a family cottage sleeping six plus cot, has an open-plan, oak-beamed lounge/kitchen/dining area with a traditional large fireplace, wood burning stove (some logs provided), tiled floor and central heating. The interior is traditional French farmhouse with white walls and honey coloured woodwork. On the gite's south side is a walled patio with sun loungers, table, chairs and BBQ - perfect for relaxing meals. As the property is fenced it is safe for children to play.

Local leisure facilities: There are two safe open air swimming pools and a paddling pool with life guards, tennis courts and a park with a lake all within 10 minutes walk or 3 mins drive of the cottage. Opposite the swimming pool there is a horse show-jumping arena where events are held. Also within 10 minutes drive there are specialist fishing lakes en route to Avranches.

Within 3 minutes walk of the cottage, up the quiet country lane, are magnificent and extensive beech woods set on a hill overlooking beautiful rolling countryside. There you can walk or stroll in the cool shade of the beech trees and enjoy relaxed family picnics.

Gastronomic delights: Near Saint Pois, about 10 minutes drive away, is the Moulin de Jean a superb gourmet restaurant within a beautifully restored water mill which offers great value and service.

In Brécey try the restaurant Auberge des Sports which serves homely French fare.

Avranches, about 20 minutes by car, offers a range of restaurants including La Belle Epoque for good food in an interesting setting; Saint Marco for good food in nice surroundings; and Le Port D'Etain, a friendly little place with good French fare.

Activities: La Tullerie is ideal for a family holiday offering many different activities so that everyone’s interest will be catered for! It is a country cottage with opportunities for walking and cycling.

For golf enthusiasts there are golf courses at Vire, 20 mins by car, and at Breville sur Mer, 30 mins, which is close to the fishing port and seaside resort of Granville, and so can be part of a family day out with shopping or beach activities for non-golfers.

For beach-lovers some of Normandy’s beautiful, unspoilt sandy beaches are not far away and are ideal for sailing, wind-surfing and sand-yachting.

Within easy travelling distance are many towns such as the historic Avranches which has many restaurants, shops, museums and beautiful botanical gardens. Mortain offers scenic walking routes beside two waterfalls, go-carting and pony-trekking as well as the historic Abbaye Blanche (White Abbey). The Mont Saint-Michel, the unique medieval town and abbey, is about 40 mins drive away.

La Tullerie has something for all - whether you want to relax outside in the orchard or have a barbecue on the terrace, the house is an oasis of calm and beauty so typical of rural France. The decor and ambience of the house is quiet lovely, holding onto traditional regional features yet with modern fittings. La Tullerie is you perfect hideaway and perfect for children to play safely in the grounds. If you are looking for a romantic totally authentic French Normandy experience then this is it and we even supply the classic French music to accompany your stay! No wonder that a leading British newspaper even said 'Located in Normandy, this is a traditional three bedroom country cottage, bursting with character. It features exposed beams throughout, russet tiled flooring in the living and kitchen area, and a traditional log burning stove. The lovely white farmhouse kitchen is fully equipped, with a beautiful pear wood, hand crafted Normandy kitchen table' (Daily Mail 2012)
