Welcome to Legends Woodland Lodge your mountain retreat.

Where else can you stay, in a whole house for less than $40 per person.

Our beautiful country house has many charming and comfortable rooms for family vacations or adventures with friends. The spacious kitchen features a large sitting area for soaking up all the lovely, country kitchen ambiance. Certain to enhance any mood, our spectacular Great Room is centered by a magnificent stone fireplace and features large windows that wrap you in peaceful, forest views. The dining room has a variety of seating areas. We also have a fully stocked library that includes children's books, activities as well as many board games for the family to enjoy. The lower level family room has a large screen TV with plenty of seating for that big game or to view that special family show. Just off the hallway is a sink with a washer and dryer. You may step out of the Great Room and onto the back deck to relax with nature, or gather at the new fire pit to enjoy the warm glow of a fire. A swing set is also in the side yard for the smaller guests to enjoy. The large front yard is surrounded by woods and abundant wildlife and can be enjoyed from the country comfort of our large front porch. Playful chipmunks, scampering across the front porch are sure to make anyone smile.

GUESTS CAN ONLY CHECK IN WHEN THE CARDHOLDER IS PRESENT. CHECK IN IS 3 PM AND CHECK OUT IS 11 AM.

Professional Development Retreat for Montessori Teachers

Our small school, Western PA Montessori School, was looking for a place for a professional development retreat. This lodge was absolutely beautiful and met our needs perfectly! Russell was responsive with our many questions and also provided additional folding chairs and a large screen to help ensure that our weekend was a success. We hope to return with even more staff for our biennial retreat!

Beautiful house but hard pass

First off want to say that the house is beautiful and we have stayed here twice. Our most recent was in Jan of 2024. We had a great stay with a couple of really big issues. Safety: 3 exterior doors do not lock and that is really concerning if you have children. The owner: He seemed like nice enough guy the first year we rented it but this last year really showed his true colors. Apparently because we didn't empty the small trash cans in the bedrooms before we left and he found some m and m's on the floor in one of the kids bedrooms ( which violates his food in the bedroom policy) he wanted to charge us additional $300cleaning fee. We usually do a walk through before we leave but the room was in the basement and we forgot to check it. Would also like to add we take pride on how we treat ours and others property. The other reason he thought we should pay more is because we moved furniture, even though we moved it back before we left. He said he could tell it was moved. The reason we moved it was to put it in front of the doors that didn't lock and we were nervous about the small children and the bad snow storm that came through during our stay. VRBO: VRBO said that they were in the process of canceling his listing due to all the complaints guests have had for these exact same reasons. We spent another couple weeks fighting to get our $300 dollars back. It's been a lot of trouble. HOTTUB and DRYER- listing said hot-tub(No hot tub) Listing said dryer(No dryer)

Weekend at Legends

Our weekend at “Legends” was absolutely fantastic. The house is gigantic, with 9 bedrooms that provided plenty of space for my three kids, 8 grandkids, 3 great-grandkids and assorted husbands, wives and significant others. The décor was beautifully rustic with several lighted Christmas trees in various areas. The large kitchen had everything we could possibly need. The grounds were spacious and had two swingsets and a treehouse that the little guys loved as well as a log swing for me. There was a firepit with abundant chairs and we all sat around it at night. When we rent the property next year we will bring banana boats and S-mores. The Great Room with its 12 foot Christmas tree had plenty of couches and chairs for all of us to congregate in the evening and play Battle of the Sexes. The front porch had wonderfully comfortable chairs and I loved just sitting there drinking my morning coffee. This was our family skiing weekend at 7Springs which is only 15 minutes away. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate and they didn’t have much snow so skiing was a bust, but we found plenty to do at the property. The house sits on a slight hill, so if we have snow next year the little kids can sled down the front yard slope. Our host, Russell Peters was extremely gracious and gave us a complete tour of the house and its facilities. When we were packing up to leave, my 5 yr. old great granddaughter said she wanted to come back every year. We all agreed!!

I retired in January of 2012 as a Pittsburgh Public Schools shop teacher. I spent the next 5 years as Executive Director of a not for profit Foundation that works with young people who have special needs. I retired from that position in January of 2017 and I am subsequently now a Board member with the organization. I am also volunteer with TeamRubicon USA doing disaster relief.
In June of 2017 I was looking for a home with property and found this to be an interesting business opportunity and purchased it in September of that year.

Why they chose this property

I saw potential in this property to rejuvenate and repair it as it was very poorly maintained. I have a vision to add some rustic yurts, tiny houses and possibly a tree house or two in the future. All will be off the grid style abodes capable of housing 2 to 6 people.

What makes this property unique

The house sits on 22 acres of wooded property to enjoy all that nature has to offer. Close enough to the city, but far enough to be living rustic. Many amenities within a half hour drive. It's like your home away from home.
Very few rentals of this size have bedrooms with in-suite bathrooms. 4 of the 9 bathrooms have this, two others have sinks in the bedroom. We utilize an instantaneous hot water tank which allows for all to shower at once if needed. Great for wedding preparation.
Large front yard allows for large tents for family gatherings and wedding opportunities.
