About this property

Our daylight basement apartment is a cozy and spacious retreat after a day exploring. You’ll appreciate the separate entrance, full bath, laundry, gas fireplace, premium sound system, and backyard garden. We are close to Division Street restaurants like Pok Pok and many others. With easy access to bus lines, bikeways, and street parking.

Fully finished basement area with epoxy-sealed concrete floors, new windows that provide plenty of natural light, and granite counter tops. A gas stove warms the area and adds ambiance. Queen bed. There is a washer/dryer. Stereo and TV. We think that you will feel at home in this space. Please note that it is a basement apartment in a 100 year old home and so sound does travel. Outside is a relaxing garden area.

Southeast Portland has become a vibrant destination for those who love eating out, traveling by bike, drinking craft beer and cider, and exploring revitalized urban areas.

Great apartment in a great location

We stayed for 5 nights while visiting my son who lives in Portland. We love to walk around the Division Street neighborhoods. This apartment was great and it is nearby everything we wanted to do.

Comfortable and convenient

This apartment worked great for us. Private, clean, comfortable and convenient for our short Portland visit. We did not interact with the hosts at all but only because we weren’t around very much. We would stay again if the opportunity arises.

Perfect place and we’ll come back

We could not have asked for a better place to stay. The apartment was roomy with a well stocked large kitchen, comfortable living room with TV, great mattress and updated bathroom. Extra kudos for a beautiful backyard and location to restaurants, shops and adorable houses. Our hosts were very accommodating and helpful. When we return next fall, we hope to stay again for an extended time.

About the host

I am an Oregonian with deep roots. My wife and I are long-time Waverly Heights residents. We enjoy using our bikes to visit friends, shop, and take in cultural events. With our three daughters we've travelled the Northwest extensively, camping on the coast and in the Cascades. As the girls grew up we set out in an RV each spring to explore some corner of the Northwest. These travels provide some of our most cherished memories. In 2014 we extensively remodeled our home throughout and converted the basement to living space.

Why they chose this property

Our home is located close to Division Street, one of Portland's popular neighborhoods, known for its restaurants like Pok Pok and Salt & Straw. Take a quick walk to the food carts to enjoy fresh air dining and a great craft beer. Jump on a bike from the bike share stand to travel the many paths of the city. Take the Max line across Tillicum Crossing, our new transit bridge. Downtown is minutes away as are parks like Mt Tabor and gardens like the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden.
