Fabulous loft, 2 bedroom, 2 full baths, Private Terrace & Barbeque

This newly renovated 19th-Century building, located near Mercado del Puerto and Buquebus, will feel like home.

The apartment is a two level loft space. There is a full kitchen, bright and luminous dining room and living room and 1 private bathroom, along with a huge bedroom on with a walk in closet and a private bathroom, with bidets and shower/tub combos.

You will have a master bedroom with queen size bed with a private full bathroom, bidet, shower tub combo, and a third bedroom with two single beds in a mezzanine over looking the living room. The apartment is fully furnished and equipped has a full laundry (washing machine and dryer as well terrace for hanging clothes). Its serviced with an alarm, fiber optics internet, and wifi service and direct TV.

The apartment host 4 guests, additional guests costs: LOW 10USD 1 EXTRA GUEST /20USD 2 EXTRA GUESTS HIGH 20USD 1ST EXTRA GUEST/ 40USD 2 EXTRA GUESTS.

You also have a private terrace with a barbeque grill. WiFi, Cable, and all costs included except for electricity to be paid at time of check out according to consumption. There is a electrical meter for every apartment, upon check in we register reading and at time of chekc out, according to kilowatts consumed x 8,50pesos (apprix (27cents US currency) will give you the consumption ( average is about 3-7 usd a day according to degree of eco friendly usage.

Once a week two hour cleaning is included in price.

Our modernly furnished apartment will provide you with a comfortable place to relax when you are not out exploring the highlights of the Old City such as an art exhibit at the Banco Republica building, a bottomless meal at Mercado del Puerto or taking a walk on the Rambla.

We will provide you with information about the most popular attractions, phone numbers, maps and a few special surprises. You will be within walking distance to some of the best restaurants in Uruguay with chefs who trained in France, Michelin-starred restaurants in Spain and other top food cities across the globe. You will also be close to most of the top attractions in Montevideo.

About Olenka Bethe

I am a new Yorker, married to a Dane, as architect and enterpreneur both of us fell in love with the heritage quarters of Montevideo, and envisioned the development and restoration of this unique peninsula, we have brought in an array of investors and have restored abandoned buildings and brought them back to life, from the purchase of the building, set up of corporate companies, design and restoration and comercialization of the buildings themselves, we personally are involved in every step of the investment to garantee our investors the projected returns. And as we always put our money where our mouth is, we decided to buy and invest in this unique early 20th century building, we have fully restored it, turning it into a high end temporary rent apartments with and our office on the ground floor.

Both my husband and I have been expats in different parts ofthe world, and our mission is to breach the distance between our guests wishes and needs and the local culture, in order to garantee our guests a unique experience and discover all the treasure Uruguay has to offer.

I was born and raised in New York, USA but have been living in South America for the last 25 years, and as an architect my pasion is to restore the architectural gems found in my path, and transform this once abandond building into a contemporary space embraced within this unique early 20th century architecture.

We are comitted 100% to the needs fo our guests, Our offices are on the ground floor of our four fully furnished two bedroom apartments, so we can be available to cover the needs of our guests. We have a section with a huge array of brochures and services that can make your stay even better.

There is also a business center 5USD per hour/1USD per print with internet conection in th event you need to do some work.

We rent out phones 10USD per visit + the amount of USD for the minutes you would like to charge,(pay as you go).

We have various alliances with local services, such as drivers, tourist guides, bike rental companies, parking garages, etc, that allow us to offer special rates to our guests and assure to maximize the experience here in Montevideo.

There is a private terrace for each apartment with its own barbeque, so one can experiment the traditional Uruguayan parrilla, or share a barbeque with your neighbors, and make it a special evening, wining and dining with fantastic port views.

Terrific apartment, wonderful hosts

Jesper & Olenka are perfect hosts: warm and hospitable as well as professional and organized. Everything was as advertised. They even helped us with an extra table for work we had to do. Housekeepers came on schedule weekly to keep things spiffy.

The apartment has double height ceilings so it is light, airy and very spacious. And even though the restored building is half a block from one of the Old City’s busiest streets, the thick, old, "they-don’t-build-them-like-they-used-to" walls make it very tranquil inside. The on-site support staff are available to give directions and answer questions. The location in the old city is very practical: shopping for daily domestic needs is just around the corner; and if you’re looking for fancy shopping, a full service mall is a 15-minute bus or taxi ride away. And an added benefit; Jesper and Olenka have installed European-stye tankless water heaters, so your showers will be HOT and only seconds away. We recommend this great place to stay in Montevideo.

Gostei do apartamento, embora no começo tenha tido uma impressão ruim por causa da região antiga e considerada perigosa por pessoas a quem a gente abordou. Isso impossibilitou que chegássemos um pouco mais tarde ao apartamento, porque ficávamos com medo de sermos surpreendidos por pessoas "perigosas". Depois, com o passar dos dias, vimos que estava tudo bem. Um abraço. Henrique

Owner's Response: Estimado Henrique, Muchas gracias por su review, la verdad el casco antiguo por tener iluminación de baja intensidad y el hecho que las calles tiene poco flujo de personas tiende a dar esa impresión, pero el casco antigua tiene un sistema de cameras de vigilancia en todo el área, como un programa de prevención que ha brindado su frutos. Estamos además agregando cada vez mas apartamentos restaurado para poder incrementar la cantidad de vecinos permanentes que tendrá un impacto urbano muy positivo. Por otro lado estamos solicitando a la Intendencia cumplir con los decretos que obligan a los propietarios resguardar los edificios tectónicos tan emblemáticos de al arquitectura de principio de siglo, manteniendo las fachadas y techos en buen estado para evitar tener un aspecto ruinoso, ni permitir la especulación de inversores que no se comprometen con el área, y espera vender con ganancias sin invertir trabajo. Nice apartment in the old city

The apartment was exactly as on the website and the most important thing... the windows have blackout curtains! The managers are nice but I find that we do not have enough for the price. We found dirty pans in the kitchen, the pillows (not the pillow case) were dirty, lack of ustencils in the kitchen. Also, would be nice if the owner could at least put water in the fridge for the arrival or offer a bottle of wine. Does not cost much and is really appreciated usually.

Owner's Response: We thank you for your comments, I have spoken to my cleaning staff and our supervisor to assure these things do not reoccur. As for utensils in th kitchen we have added cooking utensils, besides the 4 set cutlery set, cutting board, wood m spoons spatulas, kitchen knives, potatoe masher, can opener, bottle opener, pasta drainer, and a few more items already part of the inventory. We do leave courtesy items such as coffee, sugar and tea dish detergent, toilette paper, garbag bags that we believe is helpful upon arrival. As for water we had water in the fridge for the guests but due to our guests feedback , they preferred coffee tea and sugar. As for the price 155usd per night for four people is an average of less than 50usd per person with a 100sqmt apartment, 2 bedrooms two bathrooms, a private terrace with a barbecue. Full laundry washer and dryer, and once a week cleaning is hard to get at any hotel. We thank you for your time taken to send us a review. Best Regards Olenka

Comfortable stay

We travelled as a group of friends, 2 couples and spend 6 days in the apartment. We found apartment comfortable and specious. Gabriella was the lady who deal with our check in and check out and was extremely nice. Any question we had she tried her best to answer it. In generally people in Uruguay are very friendly. We fell in love with the country and when go again will stay with the same hosts. Don't be afraid to be in old town. We walked down at night and never had a problem. Plus great location, close to Mercado del Puerte and teatro Solis. Once again very good stay!

The Heritage Quarters of Montevideo is flooded with tourists for its pedestrian friendly streets, it's unique architectural gems at the corner of every street from early 20th century cathedrals, apartment buildings to late 19th century houses. One is sumerged into the local vibe, it's culture, tastes, and sounds surround you constantly from the unique vibe of the Port market where thee are over 30 pariilla restaurants all under the roof of a late 19th century English industrial edifice, the scents sounds and flavors are so unique your mouth will water every time you think about your scrumcious lunch you had at the bar of Palenque, best spot , frontline to be spoiled by the parilleros, caretakers of the exquisite meats slowing brazing on the grill. The highest concentration of musuems are located in the Casco Antiguo all at walking distance for this peninsula is no more than 7 blocks wide and approx 14 blocks long flooded with pedestrian streets that are flanked with gourmet delights, shop till you drop....and enjoy the beautiful weather Montevideo enjoys 9 months of the year approximately.

Our favorite restaurants are Jacinto (Sarandi y Alzaibar), el Estrecho ( Sarandi y misiones) Es Mercat (colon y piedras) FOC ( 25 de Mayo ) Afternoon tea at Sinestesia, great musuems, MAPI (25 de Mayo y colon) Museo del carnaval,Museo Naval (rincon y misiones) Museo La Muralla, etc.

One cannot get lost for the main pedestrian street a must do runs from one end of the peninsula to Plaza Independencia. For opera and ballet lovers one finds the two most important theaters, Teatre Spdre with a magnifique orchestra director El Maestro Stefan Lano, and Teatro solis
