Nestled among the towering pine trees, a little over two miles from the charming town of Shaver Lake and five miles from the lakeside spot of Camp Chawanakee, outdoor fun will always be easy to find. Get out on the lake to do some kayaking or fishing. Hike through the picturesque trails and find the perfect picnic spot for you and your special someone. During the winter, you can dive into the fresh powder at the China Peak Mountain resort a little over 20 miles away.

Great location, nice cabin

We loved the location of the cabin, once we found it. Google maps gave of the wrong house and I did not see the specifics in the email sent by Vacasa. My mistake! Getting into the home was somewhat hard. The main photo which shows the trail to the home is the only way in. We arrived right after a snow storm and the walkway was cover in snow and icy. We made it work though. We did have some issues getting our stuff in and out of the home (food & snow gear). The house sits on a hill. So when you go to the side and back of the home, it slopes down. Perfect for sledding. We loved it!! Theres enough forest for a small hike behind the home and theres a small stream. Again, we loved this part of the home. The house is nice. Lots of bed space. Upstairs is a good size. Kitchen was stocked and the stove was great (we've been in cabins with stoves that were terrible making it hard to cook). My only issue with the layout of the house is both upstairs and downstairs are open areas (no doors) so sound travels. Only 3 rooms have doors to block out sound. With some people going to bed earlier than others, it can be an issue. Also, the temperature of the come is not the best. Upstairs was cold (especially the corner room). Keeping the living room/kitchen warm meant the 2 bedrooms on the same floor were HOT! We had to turn on a fan and open the window. All in all, we had a great time and liked the home. Probably wont rent again just because the layout does not suit our needs but I would highly recommend it.

My overall experience was not what I was expecting.

The house was very dirty and dusty with spider webs. Overall the house was big and nice but not clean. If you plan to go during summer time to this house there is no air conditioning. There is fans and wall air conditioning but only in the rooms.

Great cabin

Our family had a great week at this cabin for our annual Shaver Lake trip. There was plenty of space for our group, the top floor was a little hot but fans were adequate for the kid to sleep. The AC units in the 3 bedrooms were much appreciated and the basement floor stayed super cool and didn’t need one anyway. Cabin had everything we needed for a good stay.

Not what we expected

It had lots of space. It’s a little run down and needs to work on the cleanliness. We rented two properties that weren’t too far from each other. The party that slept here had 10. We used this place as a meet up with the second group before we took off to enjoy the lake. The management team came and told us we were over capacity. I explained to him that we were only going to be here for a bit and had no plans on staying as we were all heading to the Lake. Since there was 12 people at the time, he said two people needed to leave that only 10 could be on the premises at all times. Reading other reviews I saw people with parties of 14 that stayed the night when the listing says 11 and the management says it’s 10. They have cameras all over the property so you don’t have any privacy and that’s how they knew we had 12 people just before heading to the Lake. I felt since they had cameras what was the big deal. We weren’t doing anything wrong and caused no damage to the property. We booked 2 days to enjoy the Lake, not to stay at the house the entire time. We ended up leaving and meeting at the other property since the management there were more nicer. We just wanted to enjoy the Lake not deal with the extra drama. It just seems like they pick and choose as management says 10, listing says 11, reviews say more. Save yourself the drama.
