About this property

Vintage Arts District Loft in Downtown Kansas City - Great Views & Walkable

A gorgeous vintage apartment with a craft kitchen/bar, two queen beds, remodeled bath and two striking outdoor spaces with amazing city views . High-speed internet, smart tv.

Ideally situated in downtown Kansas City between the historic West Side and Crossroads Arts District. Walking distance to the Convention Center, Kauffman, restaurants, music, bars, light rail line and more.

Now available for stays over 30 days! See note below and feel free to contact me with questions.

Space
You'll be staying in a lovingly restored third-floor loft apartment with a living/dining room, full kitchen/bar, gorgeous bedrooms and newly remodeled bath. The front bedroom features a private walk-out porch near the skyline and the enormous full-size deck off the kitchen serves up truly stunning downtown views. I'm a student of the local craft cocktail scene, and the kitchen reflects that, with a bar-height counter, an array of glassware and all the tools you'll need to create a Manhattan or Mojito if the mood strikes you.

Guest access
You'll have the key code to unit 3S, which takes up half the entire third floor and is otherwise known as the "Wire Rabbit." Also, not to be overlooked—the basement laundry room.

Guest interaction
We may not meet face to face, but I'm typically close by and happy to offer tips and recommendations on the local arts and food scene, especially all things related to indie music, coffee culture, craft cocktails and beer.

Other Things to Note
This is a neighborhood with noise expectations, not a spot for parties or events. No shouting, fighting, honking horns, loud music, etc. Common sense stuff.

For stays over 30 days, there's no lodging tax applied ($$ savings). Please contact me with any questions or proposals re: longer stays, as I'm motivated to make them work.

I supply bedding, towels, an equipped kitchen, and all basic amenities as well as high speed internet, and a smart tv for you to log on to Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube Tv, etc. (no traditional cable). If you have questions about specific items, feel free ask.

Neighborhood overview
You likely already know. But if not: You'll be in the heart of downtown Kansas City, which is enjoying an urban renaissance reflected in painting and music and dance and architecture, yes, but also in local breweries, bistros, cocktails and coffee. It's a fun time to be here and you'll be in the middle of it all. You'll be within walking distance to everything (slight exaggeration, but not a large one). Two blocks from the Kauffman Performing Arts Center. Dozens of galleries, bars and restaurants around the corner. A half mile from Liberty Memorial, Crown Center, Union Station. Under a mile to the Sprint Center, the College Basketball Experience, and the Power and Light District. If you're looking for a home base for your downtown Kansas City adventure, this is it.

Just So You Know...
Depending on the route you take to arrive, your first impression of my neighborhood may not be awesome (a couple guests have mentioned this)—the city has some delayed maintenance to do on a highway ramp and several sidewalks, and there are a couple ugly buildings slated for redevelopment. But have no fear! This area is highly sought after and once you arrive, you'll see why (guests mention this too)—your loft is right in the middle of KC's downtown renaissance. So no worries.

Getting around
A lot of your destinations will be within walking distance if you're working or playing downtown. Light rail runs downtown, and Bike Share KC rentals are available nearby, as well as a comprehensive bus system. Uber is also popular around here. You'll have free street parking at our location, a quiet residential boulevard just around the corner from all the action.

Cute loft
Cute place we would stay again. Assumed there was coffee since there was a lot and filters, but there wasn't. The last one to clean didn't launder the all the bedding. The decor is very quaint and accommodating.

In KC for work
We enjoyed our stay. The balconies were nice and the space and amenities were great. The only downfall was the couch was the most uncomfortable thing I ever sat on. After being out all day at classes and enjoyed the downtown I like to unwind and watch a movie or read a book with a glass of wine and the couch was like sitting on a wooden bench. Even with all the pillows I could find it was terrible. The location to downtown was great. The neighborhood was very quiet and it was a nice stay overallz

serene get away within moments from unlimited opportunities to explore all KC has to offer
I choose this property mainly because of its location and the roof top deck. I wanted us to be close to the Uptown Theatre to attend a concert. Any qualms I had about parking and what the neighborhood might be like were immediately put to rest when we arrived. Over the 2 days we stayed, parking was never an issue as I was always able to park on the street right in front of the building. The roof top deck is the "cherry on top." Day or night the panoramic views of downtown KC are mesmerizing. The Power and Light District, The Kaufman Performing Arts Center, The Crossroads, Union Station, Liberty Memorial are all within view. It's baffling how you are so obviously in the heart of so much culture and bustling life and yet within the Wire Rabbit loft neighborhood it's a serene, peaceful, go at your own pace neighborhood. It was super easy to access, being nestled right between I35 and 670. Our only regret when we stayed here....there wasn't enough time to take it all in. Way too many restaurants to sample, clubs to dance at, historic neighborhoods to drive thru, galleries to wander around in... to fit into 2 days. So we vowed to make this an annual trip. So we can continue checking off that long list of places and things we want to explore in the area. Checking in and out were seamless. I received all the information I needed to prepare me for our stay promptly. The entire booking experience was simple and smooth, way less effort involved than say booking a hotel room. All the information and photos posted about this location are dead on 100% accurate. You get exactly what you see and read about, plus more.... That in itself was refreshing! Thank you, we're excited to stay here again in the future!

I’m a husband, dad and writer, who loves indie music, the outdoors, and bourbon. The answer to basketball? espresso? or adventure? is Yes. I rehabbed this building over six years with the help of youtube DIY videos, so I guess I like restoration too.

I've lived in downtown Kansas City for over a decade and it's been fun to watch the urban core change and grow as my family grows too. Five things I can't live without are my Kansas Jayhawks, a great crime novel, pickup basketball games, my wife and kids (I'm bending the rules here) and a new challenge.

My traveling style is probably a lot like yours; I tend to hit the ground running, explore the new city, and pretend that I actually live there. Bars, restaurants and venues a little off the beaten path.

As a host, my style is personable and flexible. I'm happy to meet and greet when possible, but I'm also perfectly fine giving you space to relax and explore.
