Guestbook comments from the owner

my friend and i spent an incredibly wonderful weekend at the 'barn' as it is affectionately called. It is really a beautifully designed apartment, with a fantastic sleeping loft (enough room for more friends) in an idyllic location, near the center of woodstock; it is on 5 acres complete with a babbling brook out the back door. Spacious and complete this is a place we want to return to again! The accommodations are not only comfortable, with everything we need to enjoy a perfect weekend, they are beautiful as well. the best place in the world !!!☘⚘☘⚘☘

Friends of mine recommended the barn to us. I can’t thank them enough. Have to say the pictures don’t do it justice. The energy of the place is fantastic. The place was very clean. Great wifi service. which is a must have for me. Mirav, the host lives on the property and still it was very private. The hot tub in the back was great we were in it 3 times a day. In the morning we say deer passing by the window, was my first time to see deer close by. We went for a fantastic hike, near by at the Wilson state park. My dog loved it. I highly recommend the place💛⚘

Perfect little haven.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have been coming to this charming little barn (converted ) cabin for years now. At least five. I can never rave about it enough. It is so adorable and away from all the stress of the city. In all the years we have been coming Mirav has continued to maintain the cabin and property to keep it comfortable and estetically pleasing. All the reviews that speak of how kind Mirav is are no exaggerations. Mirav goes out of her way to be as helpful as possible. Throughout the years she has left wine out for us, extended checkout times and even added an extra day on the house! Anytime we need help with anything she runs over right away, while still leaving us privacy. The cabin is so cozy and simply just makes you feel nice. The hot tub brings the experience to an even higher level. I always look forward to gazing up at the stars in the freezing cold while being enveloped by the warmth of the soothing hot tub.

As for amenities it has just what anyone could want or need. As for a stove ( I noticed someone complained about not having one) this is not that type of cabin. Its the kind of place you go when u don't want to cook or work lol. It's got a hot plate and for anyone who wants to do more there is a huge charbroil grill outside. ( yes even in the winter we go out there and slap our steaks and burgers on and are quite happy.. It's actually fun)

My husband and I love the firmness of the bed. We have a soft bed at home and realize that Everytime we come back from the cabin our backs feel better and we are more rested. In fact we are in the market for a new mattress and will be getting a firm one as well this time around.

As I said in the beginning I can never rave about this spot enough. From the customer service that Mirav provides, to the ambiance, the location and even how close the ski lodge is there is really nothing you can complain about. I have visited many other cabins but this Is the only one my husband and I come back to year after year. I look forward to many more years. My only complaint is how much I hate leaving when it's time to go.. To anyone who might think this is some sort of shrill review I can assure you it's not. It's Merely a very happy " patron"! ( now if I could only see a bear one year!! But I guess that's my fault for coming mainly in the wintertime lol) Best regards Mirav! Till next year!!

great rental all round

  • 5 of 5

It was a pleasure working with Mirav (the owner) in setting up our wedding weekend. We were pleasantly surprised the moment we walked through the doors. From the hammock next to the stream, the hot tub, the open layout, and even the deer and was a perfect little getaway. Mirav was very considerate of our privacy and even volunteered to be a witness and take pictures at our "ceremony" that we had on the back porch.

Great location near woodstock and Phoenicia as well. We certainly hope to be back.

The Barn is a blessing!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I come to the barn to relax from the stress of the city. We've come about 5 or 6 times and are in love. It is so serene and puts us at ease right away. Staring at the woods and relaxing in the hot tub is the perfect way to unwind. Mirav is the perfect hostess...she answers all our questions about hikes and restaurants and has such a caring way about her - completely dependable. There is something about staying here that puts everything in perspective for us and we can go back to our lives with clarity and new eyes.

Gorgeous surroundings, cozy and inviting!

Upon arriving at the Barn, we heard what we thought was water. We were so pleasantly surprised there was at stream out back of the Barn with a little footbridge over it. I spent alot of time listening to the comforting sound of the stream when outside but in the dead of winter unfortunately couldn't stay out there to long. My dogs loved it as well being able to be in such beautiful natural surrounding. My teen daughter slept in the loft upstairs and shared good times going in the hot tub just outside the back door which was a thrill in the winter. The place is full of lovely decorating touches especially the mosaics everywhere. Mirav, the owner was lovely too and most accommodating, We forgot about it being Christmas with all the stores closed and she gave us food to prepare which was beyond our greatest expectations. I can't thank her enough. The only negative was the kitchen or should I say kitchenette. There was no room to work, being cooks as we are and no stove which I wasn't aware of..just a two-burner electric hot plate so this was pretty inconvenient. There was only one plug there and you could not plug in multiple appliances. If only there was a functioning stove, I would be back in a heart beat. Also, our bed downstairs was hard as a rock and my boyfriend and I had difficulty sleeping even though we are normally great sleepers. I really want to go back with my family in the summer but these details make it difficult. Otherwise, magnificent awesome place! Thanks again. Hope you can make this work for us again Mirav!

Owner's Response: thanks for your kind words. About the mattress: I actually had a few people who asked me where I got the mattress because it was so comfortable. You obviously used to a very soft mattress, since this one is the medium hardiness, and liked by many others, especially people who suffer back pains and can't sleep on a very soft mattress. Gotta take the middle way.

Great stay!

My girlfriend and I had a great stay at the barn! Mirav was great to work with/talk to. The place was immaculate upon arrival. It's charming and comfortable, modern and well equipped. The hot tub and grill are great as promised. Definitely worth a visit -- we can't wait to go back soon.
