About Jane Corwin and Dennis Spain
We built the main house in 2000. Following retirement, in mid-2016 we decided to move permanently to Montana from Virginia and have settled into the main house. We decided to construct a separate large garage/studio apartment next to the main house so that we could offer this property for vacation rental in 2017. Everyone that sees this new studio is amazed with its awesome, custom designed features and unparalleled views. We also have two reining horses and a new barn and arena on our property. We built the barn with the idea of also offering a "glamping" option for those seeking a "real Montana experience". We are avid outdoors people and enjoy all of what Montana offers--gorgeous mountains, rivers and lakes.

Why Jane Corwin and Dennis Spain chose Somers
Though we are not originally from Montana, having spent most of our lives in Virginia, we have always felt connected to this "Last Great Place". It is the perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors and live an active, healthy lifestyle. It truly is a special place and we love sharing it with friends, family and newcomers to the area.
What makes this Guest House unique
The benefits of this property are the amazing views, the quietness and privacy but also the accessibility to all that Glacier Country offers. Close to the downtown of Kalispell, stores, great restaurants, music and the arts, but far enough away that you feel that you are surrounded by mountains and lakes. We are a very close easy 3 miles to the Somers Boat Landing and Rails to Trails bike path. We are 50 minutes from the entrance to West Glacier and Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort and 30 minutes from Blacktail Mountain Ski Area. In addition, there are few places that also offer the opportunity to stay on a real horse property--watching horses graze while gazing out at the amazing scenery is truly a one of the kind experience.

Piece of Heaven
We were so lucky to find Jane and Dennis's beautiful chalet! After searching for a home base for our first visit to Montana and Glacier National Park, we couldnt have picked a better, not crowded location to take in the beautiful landscape. The view of waking up to the morning sun looking across beautiful Flathead Lake and mountain range will forever be in or memories.
Upon meeting Jane and Dennis, they immediately made us feel welcomed and we enjoyed meeting their beautiful Australian Shepherds and horse, Sly. Everything was top of the line from the furnishings to the craftmanship of the chalet and barn. Talking with them gave us so much insight to living in Montana amd has made us think about our future and retirement in Montana. We really appreciated their tips and suggestions! For our week there, we visited the park everyday except for a day of rest after hiking the Grinnel Glacier Trail in the Many Glacier region on the east side of the park. We maximized our days by doing our research of the park and area before arriving and loved returning back to the chalet as it just felt like a real home and not another hotel. You definitely need an all wheel drive for the gravel roads there (when not on the main roads) as well as in the remote parts of GNP. It was a wonderful trip and staying in such a beautiful place made it that much more special! Thank you again Jane and Dennis!
Amazing lake and mountain vista
We loved it! Felt like we were on a ship, but we were above some of the clouds! The view is spectacular. Saw the moon rise while reading in bed - so peaceful. Then sunrise from the balcony. Jane and Dennis are beyond hospitable. Loved getting to meet Sly (one of their horses) and Jane has helped me get over my fear of riding. A truly unique vacation experience!
This rental is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the drive. Words cannot describe the beautiful view over Flathead Lake, it was hard to leave. The chalet is immaculate with nothing but state of the art appliances including a towel warmer, with fine wood trim and tasteful decor. Jane and Dennis were warm, welcoming and informative throughout our stay with great advice on everything from hiking to dining. Highly recommend!!
We were so glad you were able to stay with us. Your family especially seemed to enjoy the horses and our dogs. Glad you also appreciated our spectacular views, made only possible by being up above Flathead Lake, a short 10 minute drive up our hill. We hope to host you again someday!
The property is well represented in The listing. Home is clean and well kept. We loved it. The host is kind and responsive. Highly recommend!!
Jane and Dennis thought of everything to accommodate their guest! The details were very well thought out in the chalet. It was a fantastic stay and cannot wait to go back!
Beautiful and peaceful retreat!!
My husband and I spent a week at this beautiful property and had a wonderful time. The chalet is gorgeous with beautiful décor and furnishings as well as a full-stocked kitchen. It was so comfortable, we didn't want to leave. The surroundings were also beautiful and we enjoyed sitting on the deck in the mornings and evenings. And the owners, Jane and Dennis, were so nice and sweet. They both took time to educate us about their wonderful horses, and we were even able to watch them practice for their reining competition. They just could not have been any nicer. We will definitely return for another visit, and I highly recommend a stay at their wonderful property -- you will not be disappointed.
This spacious, beautiful, custom built vacation rental is perfectly situated at the North end of Flathead Lake in Northwest Montana, 40 miles from the entrance to Glacier National Park and just 30 minutes from Kalispell Airport. It is surrounded by forest and extremely private but easily accessible by a privately maintained road, just 10 minutes from Hwy 93. This is the perfect place for those eager to explore the beauty of 'The Last Great Place'--world class hiking in Glacier Park, Jewel Basin, fishing the wild and scenic Flathead rivers, boating on Flathead Lake, golfing nearby beautiful courses, and horseback riding, etc. In fact, as the local magazine is titled, there are '101 Things to Do in the Flathead Valley'. The quaint old logging village of Somers just down the hill is across the Lake from the famous art community of Bigfork. Somers boasts several very good restaurants and Lakeside just a few miles away along the lake has a great brewery and a coffee cafe with the best cinnamon rolls ever! What is noteworthy however, are the spectacular views from the studio, with huge plate glass windows--it is like you are on deck of a ship you feel so close above the lake--it is truly a one of a kind place to stay. The studio is perfectly decorated with collections of art and furniture from around the world. The studio has everything in it for the gourmet cook and a beautiful redwood deck for those wanting to dine al fresco during warm summer evenings. The owner takes great pride in keeping 'Achewa' a real 'home away from home'.
