About Norma Phillips

My wife and I have lived on the east coast for years and prefer car destination vacations over airplane. We have been up and down the east coast searching for great places to stay. We have 2 young children and call Delaware our home.

Norma Phillips purchased this house in 2004

Why Norma Phillips chose Poconos

We were looking for a place that was within 3 hours of our home in Delaware, and we loved adventure. The Poconos was a great area

that still felt undiscovered. There were so many unique and small little towns that speckled the area and we loved exploring them all. We loved to be on water so we could paddle and fish and just enjoy the outdoors. After doing a lot of looking we found this house on Lake Carobeth back in 2004 and set it up to be a vacation destination that our friends and family would love. The rest is history.

What makes this house unique

The Pink house sits high above the lake yet close enough that you feel so close to is. The sun hits the deck in the morning and it is the greatest place to wake up and have coffee and plan your day,

Both downstairs bedrooms have small little deck areas and direct views to the lake. When the sun comes up it just draws you to want to get out on the lake. That's why we provide rowboats and canoes so anyone can start their day off with an envigorating paddle. At the end of the day one can enjoy the indoor jacuzzi tub to relax and unwind.

The 'Pink House' was the perfect vacation.....

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six just spent a delightful three days in 'The Pink House' as a last-minute, short vacation. The house is set up perfectly for family gatherings, but also for people to go off and have quiet time when needed. Very comfortable, very well-appointed, with everything we could possibly need. Our family especially enjoyed the dock with the row boat, canoe and kayak (life jackets available, too). The lake is beautiful, very peaceful -- and the other outdoor areas (the deck, fire pit, sandy beach area) were enjoyed by us all. We're already checking our schedule for a return visit, especially with such helpful owners (yes - we had a couple of questions, which were promptly answered). Our family highly recommends the Pink House.

Awesome Lake House!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at many places in the Poconos over the years and this place tops them all.

The house had everything we needed and the location and views were awesome. Coffee on the deck in the morning and marshmallows in the campfire pit at night. The house was fully stocked and we loved cooking on the grill every night. We will definitely be back.

Tacky. Get rid of those plastic flowers in front of the place.

  • 3 of 5

The location was great being right on the lake, however, I feel the price was too high and that I could have gotten a rental on a bigger lake like Wallenpauck for the same or less. I expected more for the price. The dog and the kids enjoyed the lake. The deck had some loose boards. The railings in the loft were loose. The kitchen cabinets were in need of repair. A large mirror fell from one of the cabinets that had been resting precariously on top narrowly missing a friend as it broke. Some of the cooking utensils were filthy. The curtains (sheers) were dirty. The beds were not comfortable, but in a rental I didn't except too much more. The master bedroom opened out into the garage. I wasn't impressed with the neighborhood. The sunroom was nice to play games and the loft had enough room for my daughter and her family (4) Dan, however was very pleasant and would respond to my concerns immediately.

Owner's Response: Cathy, I am disgusted by your tactics to get a refund of your rental. After everything I did for you and your family during your stay you are a bully and self absorbed person who is only concerned with herself. Cathy arrived early and lied to my cleaners that I gave her permission to be at the house 2 hours before check in. At that time she asked my cleaners to bring in her bags. They told her they were cleaners and not her butler. They asked her to wait outside until they finished. After an hour she came back in to the house with a bag fully of dirty clothes she wanted to wash. My cleaners explained they were using the machine to wash the bathroom rugs and asked her why she would need to do laundry the minute she arrived at the house. She was rude and insulting to my staff. This was the first hours of her unauthorized early arrival. This is the kind of person we were dealing with. The rest of the week was constant calls for things I couldn't control. She called to complain that the movie theater she went to that I told her about was closed the day they went. I have never hosted anyone like this before, When I called her back she would never answer the phone. I would get someone from her family. I asked how everything was and they just raved about how great the house was and how much fun they were having on the lake and around the campfire. Upon leaving she said she wanted a refund because she didn't feel the place was worth it. Cathy had over 16 people in and out of the house for the week. I will never have her back and filed a complaint with VRBO about her tactics.

My family and I just got back from a much needed summer getaway and we all had a blast at this beautiful country home! Plenty of room, wonderful views, lakeside amenities, etc. made this a very memorable family vacation!

The owner, Dan, was always on hand to answer any questions and treated us like royalty in all our requests.

I'd highly recommend renting this home ... you won't be disappointed!!!
