About Béa

With my husband's help I have tried to create a place to rest, surrounded by nature and peaceful, near the beautiful historic town of Bayeux, rich in Norman history and memories of the heroes of D-Day.

We have been committed to environmental protection for over 20 years: the construction has an ecological design, food is organic and there is no Wi-Fi pollution (only cable connections and optional wifi amplificator).

Bed mattresses are new and firm for great back support and to provide a good night sleep.

We want you to feel at home.

Béa purchased this house in 2013

Why Béa chose Arganchy

This is my grandmother's ‏(father's side) native region, and I have always heard about her cousins in Bayeux but I only met them once.

What makes this house unique

The entire manor was renovated in 2013-2014 for this first year of tenancy.

We enjoy the peace and the fresh air of the Norman countryside from the south-facing terraces.

Beaumanoir is the last property in the hamlet, located right after Sainte-Radegonde Church, in a small hamlet of 25 families.

Beautiful cottage in peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived, the charm of this lovely little home just warmed us. Eric and Bea were just devine. kept their distance but were on hand if we needed them, which we didn't at all - everything was perfect! The location is very quiet, just birds singing and the church bells ringing, but only 5 minutes from Bayeux so easy to get supplies and such a good point to start exploring.

First class accomodation with all the comforts of home in a quiet setting close to Bayeux

  • 5 of 5

Our hosts, Eric & Bea, welcomed us on our arrival after the 3 hr. drive from Paris. We stayed 5 nights in the cottage "Le Four a Pain" and couldn't be happier about our choice. Eric took the time to show us around the cottage explaining the fireplace and washing machine etc. and making us feel at home. Spotless and fully renovated with tasteful décor including linens/towels, a kitchen with dishwasher and all the pots/dishes and utensils you'll need for your stay. Upstairs is the bedroom with king size bed and a bathroom with shower only. Your own private patio with table and chairs is right outside the door. A quiet country setting on a beautiful manicured property and an easy 10 min. drive to Bayeux making it very convenient to visit the beaches of WWII. Eric & Bea were always available to answer our questions and make suggestions. This cottage was beyond our expectations and we have no hesitation in recommending it - you won't be disappointed!

Our third time at this delightfully quiet place, conveniently close to Bayeux. Claude and Pascale extremely helpful, as always. We love staying at "le Four a Pain", a smartly renovated stone cottage which stays cool in the hottest of weather. Small but quite practical for self-catering. Ten out of ten.

A little piece of heaven in the French countryside

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here was wonderful. After full days of sightseeing and the associated crowds, it was amazing to come back to this peaceful retreat. The sound of church bells and birds greeted us every morning and our host made sure we had wood to have a fire every morning and evening. I slept more peacefully here than I do at home !

Very impressed

  • 5 of 5

The "bakery" was very impressive. It had all you needed, was perfectly fitted out, even to the firewood to keep you toastie warm. It was very quiet. With just the birds and rustling of the leaves to wake you of a morning.

The bakery was clean, and tidy. As was the other buildings and gardens in the property.

Claude and Pascale were brilliant and very accomodating hosts. Claude explained everything, even showed my husband around his garden, talking about the different trees and shrubs.

It is an easy drive to Bayeux, where you will find amble places for shopping, and is close to all the D-Day memorials.

You must try the old towns butcher and pastry maker, beats the bigger shopping centre.

We found all the locals spoke a little English, and when they didn't we still effectively communicated, with a point and a smile.

We had an easy drive from CDG airport, and also an easy drive out to Mont St Michel.

If we were to travel back from Australia, we would stay here again.

Fabulous French Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week in Le Four à Pain, the former bakery of the Beaumanoir where Claude and Pascale have several properties for guests. They have controverted the buildings of this former manor into an idyllic retreat in the gorgeous countryside of Normandy. There were families from Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands in and out during our stay. All seemed as delighted as we were.

The little bakery is a cozy two -story stone cottage with all the modern conveniences in the kitchen and a wonderful bathroom upstairs. And the private terrace with table and chairs was a nice bonus. We prepared a few meals at the cottage, since we love shopping in European grocery stores. And the large Hypermarche in Bayeux is only ten minutes away. Our experience could not have been any better. We loved the little village of Arganchy and the hospitality of our host who built fires for us at night to add to the charm. We hope to return!
