About Carol or Boya Faust
This was our family vacation home and when my parents passed away we were already in the vacation rental business and wanted to share this special place with family friends and guests. I have always thought of Westwood as a fishing dream destination as I have spent so many hours chasing the trout here.
Carol or Boya Faust purchased this House in 1952
Why Carol or Boya Faust chose Westwood
A Town is Born Here in the heart of the wilderness Where wildlife roamed at will Amid primeval forest Where even time stood still, Where rushing rivers downward dashed Through meadows green with waving grass Snowy peaks towered to the skies Amid smiling lakes that watched closeby. Where the trees talked to the stars at night And the moon looked down and smiled. Where the breeze whispered secrets And the lakes extend for miles. Into this place of towering pines Where natures voise excelled all chimes Came man with ax and saw and blade And out of this land so fair and free a town was born for you and me. In the heart of the Sierras You will find it nestled there The little town of Westwood with traditions quaint and rare. As years go by and times holds sway its houses may fall into decay, It's people may leave for parts unknown The years and streets may be overgrown Even the breeze may seem to sigh with memories of the days gone by. But in our hearts and in our minds there will always be a Westwood There among the pines. By Ethel Hurd (recorded in 1949)
What makes this House unique
The Country Cottage is a very comfortable home that welcomes you to really relax, explore our town and the surrounding areas I have placed a booklet in the home letting you in on some of our in town events, places to eat, and little known areas like the Subway Lave Caves to have to see to believe. Everything is provided here. Just bring your toothbrush and clothes and food you want to eat unless you want to eat at our local restaurants. ( The Old Mill ( breakfast and lunch) Buffalo Chips ( PIzza +++) The Moonlight Cafe ( new dinner house) snack shacks and taco stands too. We also have Youngs Super Market that has been here since the early 50's and is a fixture in our town.

Not Rustic but only Run Down
AVOID THIS PLACE! If this is supposed to be like Grandma's house, she must be dead and stored in the place somewhere. Dirty, unkempt, cold, small, with TV's, lights, plumbing and much more that did not work! Not worth the overpriced rate; better to be found in area. Glad to be gone; will not return.
wow, that is certainly not the response we want our guests to have. Most of our previous guests have given us great reviews. We work very hard to give our guests a great vacation experience and insure that if and when any issues arise they are immediately dealt with. Your review is the worst review we ever had. Our property managers live next door and would have been happy to address any issues you encountered. All tv's were checked and working the day before you checked in. as were s all plumbing systems were working. Our instructions clearly ask you to inform us of any issues.
If you do not let a homeowner know of any issues we cannot address them.
This is VERY CONFUSING . We ask our guests to inform us of any issues as soon as encountered , not 2 weeks after departure.
Quaint and clean
This is a nice cottage that is clean and comfortable. It’s very close to town. The owner did a great job of providing detailed information about check in and check out. I would happily stay there again!
thank you so much. We so appreciate it when our guests take the time to give us a great reviews we try hard to earn.
Just like granny’s house (or my Aunt Effie’s house) in Alabama
We enjoyed our stay very much. If you’re expecting a luxury vacation this isn’t the place for you, but if you grew up or had family you stayed with in the country and you like quaint, comfy, antique-type old style furniture this may be the place for you. The neighborhood is older and parts of It are in poor shape, but our area was very quiet and the neighbors we met were very friendly. Lake Almanor is only 6 miles or so away—and my husband caught his biggest rainbow trout ever, 6 lbs plus (he did catch and release so it’s still there to grow and be caught again...) on our first day out. Exciting for us both! I’ve not spent time at Lake Almanor and now that I have I know why my husband loves the area so much—it’s absolutely some of the best of God’s country, gorgeous! We will be back! Oh, and did I mention the price us right?
Highly recommend
Everything was spot on exactly as advertised! We had a very comfortable stay!!!
Loved this place!
We absolutely loved staying at 207 Cedar Street in Westwood, CA! It was completely equipped with everything you could want or need. Thanks to the Fausts for creating such a wonderful property!
Thank you so much we always really appreciate when I guess take the time to leave us a great review it helps
A warm and comfy house that invites memories of grandma.
We highly recommend this neat, clean, spacious cottage. The yard had lots of romping room for our basset hounds and Carol and her husband are kind, wonderful folks who go the extra mile to make sure your stay is a comfortable one. Westwood is full of friendly, smiling people who don't hesitate to point visitors in the right direction. We will definitely be staying here again.
Map
Located between Chester and Susanville this historic old lumber town has numerous places to explore both in town and surrounding area. The local museum, the loacl honey mead operation, the Bizz Johnson trail head, the layout of the streets each named after a tree type. fishing areas are all around you. HIking, and exploring the beautiful lakes, streams etc.
Other Activities: A day trip to Lassen Volcanic National Park is definitely reccommended.
There are some volcanic lava caves on the back side of the park.
A very interesting experience to walk through in total darkness.
Golf: located in and around Lake almanor..nearby
Ski: coppervale lovated just outside of Westwood. Family, small, resort
