We are located in Southeastern Connecticut, close to lighthouses (water tours available), Mystic CT, the US. Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Submarine Force Museum, Eolia Mansion at Harkness Park, Connecticut College Arboretum, Foxwoods Casino, and Mohegan Sun Casino (my favorite). We are about an hour from Newport, RI. and half way between Boston and New York.
Other Activities: Bring your own kayak
Golf: You can play golf in a natural wooded setting near Foxwoods casino at Foxwoods Golf and Country Club at Boulder Hills or the new Lake of Isles course which Golf Digest and GOLF Magazine called 'One of the Best New Upscale Public Courses'.

Ask a questionAbout Gloria Woerheide
I am a computer software consultant. This house was my primary residence when I moved to the New London area from Chicago. I love the area and would not have moved out, except that I bought a larger house to turn into a bed and breakfast inn.
Gloria Woerheide purchased this house in 1996
Why Gloria Woerheide chose New London
Originally I came to the area for work and to live by the water. As time passed, I became more and more aware of all of the interesting things to do in the area. As the casinos grew, they brought in more and more first class entertainers and live sporting events. Being from Chicago I am accustomed to having many entertainment choices. In an area like New London County, you wouldn't think you would find the same level of entertainment, but because of the casinos you do. I count myself lucky to have found this place. So much so, that I plan to retire here one day.
What makes this house unique
We have 6 bedrooms on 3 floors. Older children and teens love our third floor because it has a couch/futon,TV with video cassette player, and cartoon and movie tapes, plus can be closed off from the rest of the house. Some have referred to it as their fort because of the vaulted ceiling. The backyard is fenced, which is great if you have small children or dogs. On the first floor, our miniature dachshunds used to love chasing each other from the living room, through the kitchen, to the dining room and sitting area, and back to the living room without stopping. Due to COVID-19, we have removed all dinnerware and eating utensils. (There just isn't time for us to sanitize them before each guest's arrival.) We will provide pots and pans, cooking utensils, paper plates, plastic eating utensils, plastic cups, and paper towels. There will be no salt, pepper, spices or other food stuffs. So, please bring your own. You can bring your own towels, sheets and blankets or use ours. The beds are: 2 queens, 5 twins, 1 double which can use queen sheets if need be, one queen hide-a-bed, and one double futon. Just let us know ahead of time whether you are bringing your own linens. Neptune Park is a family neighborhood and all guests must follow the beach association rules which help keep our beach a family beach.
