Cozy Coastal Farmhouse Near Lincolnville Beach

Bedrooms 2
Property type farmhouse

About the property

Farmhouse, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

We have a saying here in Maine - 'If you are lucky enough to live in Maine, then you are lucky enough!' Maine's midcoast brings that saying to mind again and again with its rolling hills, picturesque rocky shores, and quaint harbor towns and we love to share that with our visitors.

Our old New England farmhouse, built in the 1890's, provides its visitors with the perfect location to experience all that the Midcoast has to offer. Stroll the shared back gardens at the farmhouse or relax with a cup of tea and a good book while gazing over beautiful Penobscot Bay. Take a walk one half mile to Lincolnville Beach where you'll find 4 restaurants, a variety of shops, the Islesboro Ferry terminal, and the only stretch of beach found along US Highway 1 in Maine. Hop in your car and drive 5 miles south into Camden, believed by many to be one of the prettiest of Maine's many harbor towns, or drive 12 miles north to Belfast to visit many of the shops, art galleries, and restaurants located in these beautiful New England towns. We are located only 3 miles from the entrance to Camden Hills State Park where you can drive to the top of Mt. Battie or put on your hiking boots for an invigorating walk through the hills overlooking the bay. The possibilities are endless. The Midcoast is home to the award-winning North Atlantic Blues Festival held in Rockland in mid-July, and the world famous Maine Lobster Festival held at the beginning of August. And if you would like to visit the Midcoast in the winter, then you can't miss the National Toboggan race at the Camden Snow Bowl ski resort held every February. Experience many of Maine's fairs, festivals, and other fun activities, each only a short car ride away.

The farmhouse rental unit has two second story bedrooms, a cozy livingroom, dine-in kitchen, full bathroom, and small library. We hope to be your home away from home while you explore Vacationland. Contact us if you would like more information or would like to see more interior pictures.

We look forward to hearing from you to plan your summer visit or just for a weekend getaway.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wish we had one more day to simply "hang around" this lovely property and enjoy your garden. Loved staying in this house. I had everything we needed and we so appreciated the immaculate bathroom with plush white towels.

The weather was gorgeous; mostly sun, cool temperatures, with only two afternoons of rain. We enjoyed Acadia, mostly in the fog, but gorgeous nonetheless. We waterskied with friends who have a home on Norton Pond. We loved the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland and our trip up Mt. Battie on our first day gave us the "lay of the land". We discovered some great restaurants including the Slipway in Thomaston with its outstanding, fresh seafood and lovely outdoor location on the waterfront.

Thank you, Steve and Gretchen, for a great stay!

Owner's Response: Gunda - Sorry that your stay was unacceptable. As a busy mom of three boys, there are many times that I am unable to meet guests because our schedule keeps us very much on the go. That is why Steve often does the guest communication in late summer and fall when my schedule picks back up. As for the rental itself, I apologize if you felt misled. We've posted many pictures of the rental showing location of the bathroom off the kitchen and the steep stairs so renters have a firm understanding of the layout of the house. Of course, it is important that guests are as open with us ahead of time regarding age, or perhaps a medical condition that might make navigating steep stairs difficult. We never want our guests to besurprised by want they find when they arrive. We wish you all the best. The Hendersons

August in Beautiful Maine

  • 4 of 5

The gardens were lovely place to enjoy our downtime, in full bloom at this time of year. Kitchen was well supplied to grill or cook all the meals we enjoyed at home and the unit had an upgraded bathroom and nice robes were provided. Close by to a local coffee shop and the Lincolnville Beach (2 min drive) and the hosts had included beach towels, and beach chairs for us to take. Great for kids as the host left us some toys and a child gate for the stairs. They also made several spot-on suggestions for local outings.

The hosts were lovely to us and we really loved our stay. Everything we could hope for at the house was provided for us. The town of Camden was full of interesting shops and restaurants with delicious lobster. Mt. Battie has a spectacular view from the top and all of the surrounding areas are quintessential beautiful New England. We loved our stay ! Many thanks for your hospitality!

Lovely Maine Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

We loved our recent stay in Maine at the Farmhouse. The owners were both present to greet the 3 of us when we arrived. They were very friendly and gave us helpful ideas for things to do during our stay. They also gave us privacy unless we had questions. The farmhouse was extremely clean, comfortable, decorated in great Maine style, and included everything we needed. We were able to walk just a few blocks to Lincolnville's shops, restaurants, coffee shop and deli-Dot's was a favorite, the to the beach. It was located in central Maine so we could drive north and south for sightseeing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the farmhouse!

Pretty yard and house, but.......

  • 1 of 5

I didn't sleep. This sweet farm house is located 100 yards from Highway 1.

Trucks and cars whizzing by all night left myself and my children sleepless.

We left a day early. There were fans provided for white noise, but these were not

sufficient. I guess traffic has increased on Highway 1.

Owner's Response: Mary L - We are very sorry that you had difficulty sleeping. Unfortunately traffic noise on Route 1 can affect guests who are lighter sleepers and we have tried many methods to reduce the noise, but short of moving the house that has proved difficult. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. We will continue to try to find solutions to this issue. We only wish you had spoken to us earlier in your stay rather than waiting until after you left as we might have tried some other suggestions. We are always trying to make our guests stay as pleasant as possible but that can only work with good communication. Thank you for staying with us and we wish you all the best in the future.

Everything was perfect

  • 5 of 5

Had a fantastic time at the Oceanview farmhouse. Travelling with two children, 6 and 2, the accommodation, garden and location was perfect and gave us the space for the children to run around and enjoy themselves. Lincolnville beach, just a minute down the road is excellent, low tide provides lots of fun beach activities that are very safe with shallow water for wading and looking for sea creatures. Lots of excellent day trips are at hand from the property including, Camden, Belfast, Rockport and Rockland that are all well worth visiting. Weather was amazing. Steve, Gretchen and their three boys were excellent hosts are we thoroughly recommend Oceanview as a destination to explore everything the area has to offer.
