About this property

Storybook Cottage: Family friendly, Ogunquit / Perkins Cove home, sleeps 12

Less than a 10 minute walk to Marginal Way / Perkins Cove and several of the best restaurants in Ogunquit, this cozy house sleeps 12 (5 bedrooms). The large driveway can accommodate 5 vehicles and there is no where else in the Oguniquit area that you will find a house this size at this reasonable price and this close to the water. With its 3 fully renovated bathrooms, 5 window air conditions, we work to assure our guests comfort throughout the summer season.

Our1930s cottage has a designer kitchen with double ovens, a quiet as a mouse dishwasher and a fully outfitted coffee bar with a variety of mixers for your beverages.

Outside our guests can experience the yard in a variety areas, from the hammock in the shade, a full circle fire pit, the propane BBQ grilling area right off the sunroom of the house as well as a front porch with cushioned chairs and rockers. Board games, books, and badminton are available to keep your family entertained and for our families traveling with small children we offer a toddler bed, portable crib, high chair, infant / toddler carrier backpack and a wagon to bring everything down to the beach.

All linens are provided within the listing price from Memorial Day to Labor Day. At all other times of the year there is an additional fee for linens.

We welcome guests with a dog and are working on putting in a small fenced area for your furry friend for when you go out to the beach or dinner. Guests traveling with a dog will pay a non-refundable pet deposit of $250 and because this is Maine - we strongly encourage our guests to give your pet a flea / tick treatment before arrival.

2 smart TVs are available and from our 3 season family room you may see the turkeys and other critters that come wandering through the 1 acre yard. And if you are a sports fan, you will be staying in a home once owned by Charles Adams, original founder of the Boston Bruins back in in 1924, the Boston Braves, and former President of the Boston Hockey Association.

"Adams occupies a singular place in Boston sports as having been the owner and partner of two local pro franchises simultaneously while also building one of America’s legendary thoroughbred tracks" (referring to Suffolk Downs). In this room you can imagine the trophies which once lined the custom built mahogony shelves. For more information about Charles Adams go to: https://www.sportsmuseum.org/curators-corner/charles-f-adams/

We offer a $50 a day discount to families who choose to bring all of their own linens otherwise you will find new linens delivered to the property on the day you arrive and then picked up the day you leave.

Yoga under the trees (we provide a yoga mat, kettle bells, and hand weights) our home is the perfect summer place for you and your family to relax, recharge and reconnect with each other, nature, and your soul. This property offers absolute quiet, a feeling or sanctuary, while still just being 700 steps to Perkin's Cove. You can walk to “That Place" for a romantic meal or to The Cove restaurant for breakfast. You can go for a stroll on Marginal Way or get in the car and drive to Cape Neddick Lighthouse in 10 minutes. What most people tell us and write in their reviews is that the location of this property is really ideal since you can get into town without the challenge of trying to find parking for your car.

Please note this is house is multilevel and therefore, has a lot of STAIRS, both inside and outside of the house which could pose a challenge to those that require assistance or have limited mobility.

We offer a discount for people wanting to rent the property from Fall to Spring. Generally there are no discounts given during this period of time since you will already see a significantly reduced rate reflected on the website but send us a note through the platform and we are happy to discuss your offers. Due to the potential for freezing pipes if a house is left unattended - as this is Maine - we do not rent the house during this period of time for anything less than 3 months. Our guests are responsible for paying for their own snowplowing and heating fuel. This is an older home and it is extremely comfortable from April to November, but guests should anticipate paying $500 a month on heating fuel during the winter months.
There is an unattached guest house on the property that is not rented. It is attached to the garage so the garage is also not included in renting this property.

Finally, we do encourage dialog regarding the property, but do not ask us to call or e mail you separate from this website since this is the safest way for both of us to communicate.

Warm wishes from our favorite place and we look forward to meeting you soon.

Perfect house for 2 families
Really enjoyed this house and the location is great being so close to Perkins Cove. Easy access to go back and forth from Ogunquit to places like Portland or Portsmouth. Lisa was very easy to communicate with and the price was more than fair for the size of the house. Would stay here again without a doubt.

Wonderful family vacation
This home was perfect for our three generations of family gathering in Ogunquit for a wedding. The location was awesome and we enjoyed days at the beach and walks on the Marginal Way. The house was lovely, well stocked and so much more than the pictures show. Lisa and Mike were wonderful hosts. High recommend this property.

A week near Perkins Cove
The house was truly lovely, old but updated and maintained. The property was gorgeous. Wild turkeys passed through on a daily basis. Beautiful tree coverage. It was truly a short walk to Perkins Cove and the rest of Ogunquit. We highly recommend this rental.

This is a property that has been in our family for more than 30 years and my husband and I took over the house in 2012. We adore Maine, the people, and the lifestyle more than anywhere else we have ever traveled.

Why they chose this property

We want to keep this a family home so that future generations are able to enjoy a quiet, peaceful place, somewhere to offer a respite from busy lives and hectic schedules. Maine is safe. Maine is what its motto implores, "The Way Life Should Be". This house has substance, history.
This house has space for privacy but if you want to walk into town for dinner and share a romantic bottle of wine, it is only a 10 minute walk back to a lovely cocoon.

What makes this property unique

Charles Adams, one time owner of the Boston Bruins and the Boston Braves was one of the original owners of the property and you can see a room that he made for his trophies in the rear 3 season room.

Additionally, this property and the town of Ogunquit will make you feel as if you are stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting, reconnect with nature and people. It gives you room to breathe, be creative, and thinking about next steps, next journeys as well as to just sitting still. It offers ways to be a part of nature, to exercise, to move, as well as to steep yourself in history and living life "The Way Life Should Be".
