The Hobo cottage is situated on a bluff overlooking the Englishman River.
The cottage has a loft with two sleeping areas separated by a small bathroom. The beds are both queen size. We now have an additional queen size bed down on the main floor. This bed is screened away from the main living area and offers privacy to our guests. This down stairs queen bed is useful for guests who do not want to climb stairs. All our linens are 100 percent cotton and all the beds have down duvets. The main floor is an open concept.

About Marlene Prescott
Hobos Pond Get Away is in its third season. This season we are affected by the COVID 19 crisis so we are working hard to making our guests safe. We have at least four days between bookings allowing us to air and disinfect the cottage. We believe we have made it safe for you. So we invite you enjoy a vacation at Hobo's Pond. We will do everything we can to help you enjoy this beautiful place. We purchased our property in 1989. At the time we lived and worked in Burnaby. In our spare time we would come to the island on weekends and holidays. We cleared land and built the hobo cottage in 1993. In 2001 we were both retired and we moved here to the island permanently. In 2012 we started building a larger house. We realized that we now had a cottage that others could enjoy. We are pleased that we now offer a get away for guests. What a lovely experience this has become. We meet people from all over the world. We still are awed by the lush greenery we are surrounded with. Our tall trees and our proximity to the river and our pond are still a godsend. We continue to enjoy our beautiful property and invite you to join us here at Hobo's Pond.

Why Marlene Prescott chose Errington
We purchased this property because we love nature and we love being beside a river. Harvey has been fishing rivers since he was a child. He enjoys sharing his river fishing experiences with other fly fishermen. This property has some special features. Almost from our doorstep you can hike all the way to Top Bridge. You can actually hike all the way to Parksville if you are a serious hiker. Top Bridge is a fabulous place with a suspension bridge and pot holes that are a favourite swimming spot for locals and visitors. You can also get to Top Bridge via the main island highway. The entire hike along the Englishman River is very picturesque and there are picnic sites in several locations.
What makes this Cottage unique
The hobo cottage is very comfortable; it has a lovely large deck where you can look down into the Englishman River. On the property and surrounding area are many native plants indigenous to this area: huckleberries, salmon berries, rose hips, salal, oregon grape, ferns, cedar - fir and hemlock evergreen trees, skunk cabbage, willows and many more. Even though this property is out of town and in the country it offers the traveler the ability to make quick trips to get food and gas. We are about a twenty minute drive from most modern shopping and amenities. We are 10 minutes from the General Store at Grafton and Englishman River Road.
