Guestbook comments from the owner

These are comments via email we received from guests from Chicago:

Hi Sharon & Phil -

Thank you so much for the wonderful vacation lake house. It was far more than we expected. The backyard was just like being on some estate, and the inside was so homey and cute. I especially loved all the blankets here and there, and the view from the upstairs TV Room / loft.

I have to work on getting some of the kids to make the long trip again - but I am all for it. I will also recommend your place to anyone who asks me. It is a great house, lake, property, and town for a family getaway. If it helps, I can type words like these for others to see either into the website or wherever you like.

Strange set up

  • 2 of 5

The house is built in to the side of a hill. Don’t plan on bringing your boat , there is no where to park it due to the steep driveway. Also the deck around the house needs lots of repair, boards are loose and rotting. The house is not well taken care of, broken furniture in the house. The yard is spacious and you do have lots of privacy. Might be a good place for a guys weekend.

Owner's Response: It is unfortunate to read this review, Sue. I have reached out to you for further information; we are unaware of broken furniture? You have not responded to my inquiries. The well used (highly rented spot in 2017) Deck is being replaced next Spring. And the steep driveway is noted in the Welcome email. There is much sufficient room off road above the property for boats to be parked. No one has complained before about this solution; we've had people happily/easily park large boats, trailors, even campers. . Thank you.

Quiet, comfortable, relaxing

  • 4 of 5

Very nice home! Wish there was more of a swimming area for kids. Also, lots of poisonous weeds near the path. Overall, a great place to stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Tracy. Thank you for your stay, and review, and input on the weeds. We do have poison ivy in the woods, and have been spraying to keep that away from pathways...we will be sure to stay on top of that. Thanks Tracy.

Very clean, very private. Beautiful home and surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful home. No mildew like in other places we've rented!! Well taken care of. Very clean. Nice beds and linens and blankets were wonderful! We had morning coffee together and really enjoyed the patio set on the deck. I did a lot of reading sitting on the dock, too! It was nice to have the TV's with DVD players, and great cable selection - but we didn't watch Tv as it was a beautiful week and too many other relaxing and fun activities to enjoy. There was enough 'play' space for my adult sons to throw a football around below the house by the water. Even though the property is right below the road, we seldom noticed any traffic noises.

The only drawback for me was not having swimming access at the house. The raft is across the bay. But the swimming there is nice and the raft is easy to get on and off.

The paddle boat was fun to have and we also rented a couple of kayaks.

I would definitely say this is the nicest place we've rented over the years!

Where do you live?

Nice lake, comfy house.

  • 5 of 5

This was a nice house, nothing "fancy", but comfy. The lake is nice and there are plenty of fish for kids to catch off the dock, too mucky for swimming though. Plenty of wildlife. Quite and private. Owners are nice and communicate very effectively.

The beds are listed as Queens, but they are Fulls. Great selection of VHS tapes.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your stay, and review, Jeff. The main floor and lower level bedroom/bed are (I believe) queen size? (I purchased and we put queen bedding on those beds). The futon and couch pullout may not be full queen sizes? Thanks again. Hope to see you again.

Great place to get away!

  • 4 of 5

This is a great place to get away from it all. It's very secluded from the neighbors. The home and yard are very spacious. It was great to have a gas grill as we ate all our meals at the cabin. The fire pit near the lake is also an added bonus. The lake is beautiful and quiet. Unfortunately, there is no swimming off the dock because of Lilly pads, but there is a paddle boat offered, so we took that out to the swimming pad. Sandy was easy to work with and responded quickly to any questions. Would definitely consider returning!

So much to do in this area; if you desire to escape your private, relaxing get-away. Local town has a hometown live theatre event (WoodTick theatre). Many local eating, entertainment and recreation establishments nearby. Enjoy your stay, surroundings and time away from home!
