About Thea Robinson

We are a British family who first invested in a waterfront fisherman's cottage on the island of Brac(property no. 55026) in 2004 and fell in love with Croatia's wonderful landscapes, people and food. In 2013 we felt it was time to make a second purchase in this beautiful, historic centre of Split and were fortunate enough to find this very special property. In April 2014, we completed the project and are pleased to make this lovely apartment available for others to enjoy.

Thea Robinson purchased this apartment in 2013

Why Thea Robinson chose Split

It's a perfectly positioned, spacious apartment with its own very rare, private terrace in the historic Diocletian's Palace. The apartment offers access to a beautiful coastline, a great deal of Roman history and many excellent restaurants, cafés and shops. Even the local supermarket is a site of historical interest. There is an amazing fish and vegetable market a short walk away, as well as an abundance of bakeries for your freshly baked, daily loaf! Why not enjoy a two stop holiday in Croatia by booking some time in our Brac island property, no. 55026

What makes this apartment unique

We were instantly attracted to this wonderful apartment by the high ceilinged, generously proportioned rooms and private terrace all set within a site of Roman antiquity and so perfectly located for enjoying all the delights Split has to offer. We now feel able to offer a two stop holiday experience of Croatia by offering potential visitors the opportunity to enjoy the hustle and bustle city experience in addition to the beauty and relaxation on the island of Brac - see property no. 55026 for more details. Also, we are in the process of partnering with a Split based excursion company for 2016 which runs a variety of professional tours in Dalmatia to suit all tastes. Their focus is on the smaller group tour experience, which is of a very high standard. Guests of Prisca will receive a 15% discount of the listed price of all tours.

Perfect choice

  • 5 of 5

This was our 5th European vrbo stop. We couldn't believe how large and beautiful it was. Our teenage daughter was so happy to have room to get away from her parents for awhile. The property managers were exceedingly gracious and accommodating . We would absolutely choose this apartment again.

Owner's Response: We're so pleased your family enjoyed our apartment Kristin. Typically, holiday lets tend to be a little cramped, but we wanted to provide space and tranquillity in the hustle and bustle of the city centre, - we're delighted this added to the enjoyment of your holiday.

Superb apartment in a superb location

  • 5 of 5

This really was a great apartment, far more spacious than even the photos would indicate. The high ceilings and thick walls provided an air of tranquillity and the terrace was a real oasis in the throng of the city in the heat of summer. Bildo was a superb host, making himself readily available to help with all our questions and requirements. His company, Gecko tours laid on seamless transport from and back to the airport and our tour of Salona, Klis and Trogis was made eminently more enjoyable and interesting by his guide Boris who really was a font of historical and social knowledge - a definite must!

Exceeded every expectation

  • 5 of 5

As gorgeous as this apartment looks in the photos, it's even more appealing in person. The patio furniture has been upgraded and made for an absolutely perfect spot to relax after a day of site seeing with a glass of wine, sitting just above the hustle and bustle. And when you're ready for bed, just go inside and close the windows and it's perfectly quiet. (Seriously, the windows are amazing.) The apartment is smack in the middle of things in Diocletian's Palace -- literally steps from anything you could want (a bakery and a coffee shop for the morning, dozens of great choices for a drink or snack in the evening). Baldo, the property manager, was exceptionally helpful regarding parking and other logistical details, and also provided terrific advice for what to see, what to do and (most important) what to eat. And yes, the bathrooms are just as spectacular as they look in the photos -- plus the water pressure is awesome. It's a bit tricky to get your luggage in and out (let Baldo help!) and you will notice the smoking down below if you're sitting on the patio at night (we weren't bothered by this at all, but it's worth knowing if you're particularly sensitive -- again, closing the windows in the apartment does the trick). Can't recommend it highly enough.

I had an amazing stay at this apartment with my wife and baby. Baldo (host) was very helpful in getting us situated. The apartment is as advertised but the pictures almost do not do it justice. The rooms are very large, open and nicely appointed. Great location in the heart of the old city but still quiet enough for a sleeping baby with the windows closed. Perfect home base to explore Split, which has a lot to offer. Would recommend 10/10.

Owner's Response: Delighted to have been able to provide good accommodation for yourselves and your little baby - travelling with little ones is often more stressful than it needs to be! Thanks very much for your kind words.

This property is amazing. To be in the heart of the Diocletian palace overlooking the cafes off the patio and listening to the bustling nightlife was so relaxing! You have everything you could possibly need in this property. Comfortable, spacious bedrooms, three well appointed bathrooms, a galley kitchen with everything. It was clean and beautiful.

Our host, Baldo, was a great guy. He recommended restaurants, tours etc. and was just a phone call away for whatever we needed.

The perfect apartment with a perfect host.

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is outstanding. Modern and clean win two fantastic en suite bathrooms. The location within the palace walls is very convenient to all you may want to see in the old town. The terrace is a great bonus. We enjoyed it for a relaxed breakfast every morning and a night cap each night.

But the real highlight is Baldo, the local who essentially manages the apartment for the owners. He met us after we returned our rent car to help guide us to the apartment (which can be a bit tough to find in the narrow alleys inside the palace walls). He then gave us recommendations on things to do (and more importantly, not bother doing) and places to eat (and not to eat). All of his recommendations were spot on!

I would recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Split.

Split is perfectly located for exploring the whole of Croatia, as well as the islands. The Diocletian's Palace area is a UNESCO world heritage site. It provides much historical interest, but has all the attractions of a bustling city centre next to the sea - including a beaches which are only a short walk or bus journey away. Besides the many cafés, restaurants and shops, Split also has an opera house, indie cinema which regularly shows English language films, as well as a regular cinema. All in all, Split provides most travellers with the perfect combination of attractions to provide something of interest for everyone.
