A wonderful property!

  • 5 of 5

Our family is originally from Maine and we lived on Cobbossee Lake before we moved to Virginia, so we were familiar with the area. This property is wonderful! It is very spacious and up-to-date, but with a rustic feel. It is in a very convenient location, near shopping, etc. and the lake is quite calm because of the various islands nearby. We enjoyed the hot tub every evening, watching the sunsets and the loons on the lake. We absolutely loved it.

Everything we expected and more!

This place is gorgeous. Everyone absolutely loved the place and we had a wonderful time ice fishing in the front. I would love to come back here in the summer! Everyone around the area was very nice even the neighbor's dogs were great with our dog. Overall it was a wonderful time at a wonderful place and would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking to get away and be on a lake!

An idyllic winter retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This was my second time staying at Greg's home, and it was even more stunning then I remembered. We got caught in a bit of a snowstorm on the way up, but Greg had plenty of shovels and salt to help us get our cars out and stay safe on the icy driveway and porches. His property manager was also very attentive the next day and came and shoveled the entire deck!

Once inside though, we had absolutely no complaints about the snow - it was stunning to see the lake covered in white and such a peaceful place to be instead of having to spend the weekend celebrating in the craziness of the city (we were all a large group of co-workers taking a break from our jobs in Boston)

Greg's home is even better in person, and is SO comfortable - all of the beds are cozy and/or tempur-pedic, with plenty of pillows and soft blankets, that also double as great couch blankets for the awesome leather sectional! The screened in patio is great, though a tiny bit cold in the winter! We always loved warming up with a fire in the stove off the living room and were so cozy in the storm we barely left the house for the entire weekend.

So many great memories here, and I'm so thankful to Greg for being a kind and courteous host! Hope to visit again soon.

Very beautiful and quiet spot!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the size, lot and easy access to the home. We had a wonderful family Thanksgiving dinner with all of the fixings. The house had all of the utensils necessary to provide for cooking and dishes! Would highly recommend this spot.

Perfect Fall Experience

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I usually stay at another cottage on Cobbossee but it wasn't available - which turned out to be a good thing. This cottage was perfect for our stay in late Sept. Our daughter and son-in-law joined us which made things even better. The layout of the cottage is open, spacious and inviting. The hot tub, fire pit and glassed-in sunroom made the outdoors accessible, even in the cool fall evenings. Even used the kayaks a few times. We lucked out with good weather, and although we took many day trips to our usual haunts, we'd always return early enough to catch the sunset (which was breathtaking every night) and perhaps a soak in the hot tub with a glass of wine. Having linens provided and a washer and dryer was a huge plus since we came from "away." More than ample parking for guests, all beds are very comfortable (we are active seniors and this is a requirement), having three full bathrooms was wonderful. Plenty of room for a family gathering - the kitchen is very well appointed. Being Mainers we had to light the wood stove which put out so much heat we had to cut it back! This is a beautiful cottage in a great setting. Close to everything but tucked away on the lake. Greg was great to deal with, and his caretaker was available to handle anything we needed. I'm being nit-picky now....might need a new microwave down the road (didn't heat very fast). We will be back - maybe in the summer next time!

Cobbosseecontee Lake is the central and largest in the Winthrop Lakes area. The water quality for fishing, swimming and recreational use is exceptional. The Winthrop Lakes area is close to shopping in Augusta, antiquing in Hallowell and the many summer features of the region. We are only a 45 minute drive to Freeport's L.L. Bean and other outlet stores. Ideal central location in the state for fall foliage. For winter snowmobilers and cross-country skiers, this house is ideal with many central Maine snowmobile trails in the area and 10 miles of lake to ski upon.
