A wonderful property!

  • 5 of 5

Our family is originally from Maine and we lived on Cobbossee Lake before we moved to Virginia, so we were familiar with the area. This property is wonderful! It is very spacious and up-to-date, but with a rustic feel. It is in a very convenient location, near shopping, etc. and the lake is quite calm because of the various islands nearby. We enjoyed the hot tub every evening, watching the sunsets and the loons on the lake. We absolutely loved it.

Very beautiful and quiet spot!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the size, lot and easy access to the home. We had a wonderful family Thanksgiving dinner with all of the fixings. The house had all of the utensils necessary to provide for cooking and dishes! Would highly recommend this spot.

Portland Oregon - one of the most wonderful cities in the US

Perfect Fall Experience

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I usually stay at another cottage on Cobbossee but it wasn't available - which turned out to be a good thing. This cottage was perfect for our stay in late Sept. Our daughter and son-in-law joined us which made things even better. The layout of the cottage is open, spacious and inviting. The hot tub, fire pit and glassed-in sunroom made the outdoors accessible, even in the cool fall evenings. Even used the kayaks a few times. We lucked out with good weather, and although we took many day trips to our usual haunts, we'd always return early enough to catch the sunset (which was breathtaking every night) and perhaps a soak in the hot tub with a glass of wine. Having linens provided and a washer and dryer was a huge plus since we came from "away." More than ample parking for guests, all beds are very comfortable (we are active seniors and this is a requirement), having three full bathrooms was wonderful. Plenty of room for a family gathering - the kitchen is very well appointed. Being Mainers we had to light the wood stove which put out so much heat we had to cut it back! This is a beautiful cottage in a great setting. Close to everything but tucked away on the lake. Greg was great to deal with, and his caretaker was available to handle anything we needed. I'm being nit-picky now....might need a new microwave down the road (didn't heat very fast). We will be back - maybe in the summer next time!

Beautiful Waterfront Property

  • 5 of 5

This property was exactly as it was described if not better! We had a beautiful week enjoying the gorgeous view, riding in the kayaks and the canoe. The men had fun fishing and even caught some nice ones! We appreciated all of the linens and towels being provided. Paper goods and soaps were also plentiful, so much nicer than having to bring it all. The home is very well maintained. We loved having a fenced in yard so our dogs could run free. (the neighbor dogs do know how to come around the end of the fence in the water and visit... our dogs weren't too thrilled with them!) The hot tub wasn't working properly during our stay so the owner tried to get someone in to fix it, but didn't work out. He refunded us money for the inconvenience. We received good customer service and there was good communication with the owner. The only con is that there are a lot of stairs for climbing up and down to the water. My parents were getting a little tired of them! We enjoyed lobster and lobster rolls from The Lighthouse Wine and Seafood, just down the street. We also enjoyed DiMillos on the Water in Portland for a lovely dinner to celebrate my parent's 60th wedding anniversary. Overall, we would highly recommend this property and hope to return there someday!

Great Maine Lake Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week at this place. The property is well thought out and resourced to allow relaxation and access to the water sports/swimming/kayak/fishing. The fenced in aspect of the property allowed our dog to roam and relax as well. The kitchen is well stocked and affords opportunity to cook for a large group with ease. The lake is serene and the glassed in porch maximizes the opportunity to enjoy its beauty. We will be back!

Our overall stay at the lake was great. Beautiful sunrises and glorious sunsets.

  • 4 of 5

The listing description was accurate, but the actual layout once there was even better. Found the property well maintained, a couple of quirks with the height of the stairs. One step in particular, as one reaches the landing to the lower deck, the step sits an inch or so above the deck level. As for cleanliness, over all fell 7.5 on a scale of 10. I did find myself sweeping a bit of dog hair from previous renters, there were dust accumulation on window sills, and a bit of dirt in the corners of bathroom floors. Otherwise the property, provided great activities for a family to enjoy : ping pong, hot tub, kayaks, canoes, fire pit and of course Cobbossee Lake. Though family members did not doing any fishing, I did join my daughter's in laws at Spring Hill Farms for some berry picking. Our evening meals were grilled and prepared on the property and enjoyed at the dining options provided. I was particularly fond of the table arrangement provided on the lanai. Overall a great experience, I would certainly recommend this to family and friends.

Cobbosseecontee Lake is the central and largest in the Winthrop Lakes area. The water quality for fishing, swimming and recreational use is exceptional. The Winthrop Lakes area is close to shopping in Augusta, antiquing in Hallowell and the many summer features of the region. We are only a 45 minute drive to Freeport's L.L. Bean and other outlet stores. Ideal central location in the state for fall foliage. For winter snowmobilers and cross-country skiers, this house is ideal with many central Maine snowmobile trails in the area and 10 miles of lake to ski upon.
