My husband and I wanted to take a fall trip/anniversary trip, so since I'm the planner, I got to searching for places to stay up in New England and found Rockport, MA! Bear Skin Neck is such an amazing place! If you want to go somewhere that is small, homey and has that Cape Cod vibe, go here! In November, it is sort of their off season, so we had the place to ourselves. It was like walking around a little Cape Cod movie set and there are tons of cute stores and vintage post boxes! Also check out Motif #1, a little red building in town that is worth several pictures and covered in colorful buoys.
The rental itself was WONDERFUL. It was just the two of us, but it can easily sleep 5. It is sort of an attic apartment and very cute. They got very creative with space and storage and it was just enough space for us! Also, there are great views of the street from the rental, so people watching is awesome! It had all the amenities of home.
Only thing I noticed was it took a minute for the tub water to heat up, but just run it a minute, turn it off and come back and it works like a charm! The shower was great and beat all the stress and knots out of my back from air travel the day previous!
Love this rental and definitely want to come back!!!
The host for this house is so wonderful. I felt comfortable and well informed. I look forward to staying here again. The business downstairs is a great please to be above! Great people great time!
Access to the apartment was easy and the parking nearby. The place is simple with a coastal feel. the apartment was larger than expected and comfortable. The place was fairly well supplied, i.e. oil, sugar, coffee filters etc. I would recommend it as it was good value.
We thought the place was perfect. The location was right in town where everything is. Great food, great shops and the nicest people. The apartment was clean, comfortable and very "New Englandy". Being above a gourmet cupcake shop didn't hurt (except the waistline). Definitely recommend having one or two of their pastries, delish!
The only downside was the tiny bathroom. Perfect for two. There were four of us and we found it a little small, but hey, we survived and loved everything else about the apartment. Comfortable beds. TV's were old and poor reception, if it were not for the debate, we would never have turned it on, so not a future deal breaker. Complimentary wi-fi, nice. Would recommend if you want to stay in town and be close to everything. The hot dog place across the street had the friendliest employees and great hotdogs. Roys for lobster rolls! Oh okay, we will be back. All in all a fantastic stay, the apartment is very reasonably priced considering the location.
My husband, preschool-aged son, dog and I stayed at the apartment for 5 nights and absolutely loved it. The location is perfect, a moments walk to coffee, pastries, restaurants, art, shops and the water. There is no parking at the apartment, but it didn't bother us and we didn't even use our car for the first 3 days since everything was RIGHT outside our doorstep. The apartment is layed out nice, where my husband and I stayed in the master bedroom next to the kitchen and our son stayed in the front bedroom right over the bakery. The setup let us spread out for evenings in and since the apartment is the full length of the building, there was lots of room to play or have our son get energy out when we didn't feel like heading outside. The bakery downstairs shares an enterance and their music can be heard in the apartment, but they were always pleasant and we enjoyed the tunes! All rooms had a nice breeze and even though we were a floor up from a bustling street, it definitely had a relaxing cottage vibe. So happy we found this rental and will definitely be coming back!!
Halfway down the magical bearskin neck, the apartment was quaint and perfect size. The main bedroom felt like being on a boat and the morning light streamed through the windows. I would love to stay again.
The town of Rockport and the city of Gloucester make up the island portion of Cape Ann. Joined to the mainland by 2 bridges, Cape Ann forms the northeast extreme of Massachusetts. Rockport enjoys a unique tourist setting perched on the edge of the Atlantic's rocky shore. Home to some of America's finest artists, as well as intrepid lobstermen who grace our evening tables with crustaceans plucked from the sea that very morning. A setting to make Norman Rockwell proud, white churches and picket fences abound. Famous in the late 1800's for its granite resources quarried by generations of Swedish and Finnish craftsmen, look for the unique rock walls each worker built around his home during his cherished days off. Sunset cruises aboard a 2-masted schooner complement a day on the ocean photographing humpback whales or fishing Jeffries' Ledge. Each Sunday night on Back Beach the bandstand comes alive with the music of local musicians. Escape into a story-book setting, and relax.
