Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We thought the place was perfect. The location was right in town where everything is. Great food, great shops and the nicest people. The apartment was clean, comfortable and very "New Englandy". Being above a gourmet cupcake shop didn't hurt (except the waistline). Definitely recommend having one or two of their pastries, delish!

The only downside was the tiny bathroom. Perfect for two. There were four of us and we found it a little small, but hey, we survived and loved everything else about the apartment. Comfortable beds. TV's were old and poor reception, if it were not for the debate, we would never have turned it on, so not a future deal breaker. Complimentary wi-fi, nice. Would recommend if you want to stay in town and be close to everything. The hot dog place across the street had the friendliest employees and great hotdogs. Roys for lobster rolls! Oh okay, we will be back. All in all a fantastic stay, the apartment is very reasonably priced considering the location.

Perfect cottage feel on Bearskin Neck

  • 5 of 5

My husband, preschool-aged son, dog and I stayed at the apartment for 5 nights and absolutely loved it. The location is perfect, a moments walk to coffee, pastries, restaurants, art, shops and the water. There is no parking at the apartment, but it didn't bother us and we didn't even use our car for the first 3 days since everything was RIGHT outside our doorstep. The apartment is layed out nice, where my husband and I stayed in the master bedroom next to the kitchen and our son stayed in the front bedroom right over the bakery. The setup let us spread out for evenings in and since the apartment is the full length of the building, there was lots of room to play or have our son get energy out when we didn't feel like heading outside. The bakery downstairs shares an enterance and their music can be heard in the apartment, but they were always pleasant and we enjoyed the tunes! All rooms had a nice breeze and even though we were a floor up from a bustling street, it definitely had a relaxing cottage vibe. So happy we found this rental and will definitely be coming back!!

The absolute perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

Halfway down the magical bearskin neck, the apartment was quaint and perfect size. The main bedroom felt like being on a boat and the morning light streamed through the windows. I would love to stay again.

Perfect location in picturesque town!

  • 5 of 5

If you are visiting Rockport, definitely consider staying at this apartment! It is the ideal location for everything Rockport has to offer - close to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Beth is absolutely wonderful to deal with, and the apartment is very charming. As previously mentioned, parking is at a premium in Bearskin Neck, so you will have to walk to get to your car, but with everything so close to this location, unless you are going exploring out of town, this isn't a problem.

We've staying in hotels in town, and definitely loved being in the heart of Bearskin Neck this time! Highly recommend!

The perfect get-away

  • 5 of 5

This home is the perfect place to stay when enjoying Rockport, Good harbor and the Gloucester area. We stayed for two nights and wished we had reserved more time. We had our parents visiting from SoCal and our one year old so finding the right accommodations to suit us all would have been hard had it not been for this perfect place. It is hidden above the best cupcakes -Rockin' Cupcakes- and very spacious. We were able to shop, eat and take breaks when the baby needed to nap or rest. The place is clean and has a great kitchen. Parking is just a few blocks away and plenty of places to eat. We were able to bring our small dog with us as well. We plan on staying again and appreciate the Beth's hospitality. This is a hidden gem!

Cozy, Amazing Location

  • 4 of 5

The location cannot be beat! We stayed in Rockport for a long weekend in May with our two year old and had a great time. The apartment is located above a cupcakery and across the street from the fudgery. Nothing more really needs to be said. As it is in the heart of Bearskin Neck, it is extremely close to the best food around. If a strudel, coffee, ocean breeze and sunrise sounds like your ideal morning...this is your spot.

Other Notes:

-Beth and the owner of the cupcake shop were incredibly friendly, helpful and easy to work with. Entering through a space shared with the shop was a bit odd, but everyone working there greeted us with a smile.

-The interior of the apartment was clean and maintained, with a stocked bathroom and full kitchen. Linens, towels and a bath mat were also provided, but we chose to bring our own.

-A convenient parking space was provided just a few yards away from the apartment and was perfect for being able to unload. Driving in and out of the area can be tricky during busy weekend days due to the large number of pedestrians in the street. We arrived and left when most of the shops were closed, so we had no trouble moving around. This parking may not be available in winter months, however.

-Outside the apartment can be loud during a busy weekend day and the bakery below does make quite a bit of noise when open. It didn’t bother us at all but if you’re looking for a place that will be quiet all day, don’t stay in Bearskin Neck. Otherwise, the area seems to shut down around 7-8pm and the streets go SILENT. It was actually kind of creepy, given the hustle and bustle just a few short hours before, but this also meant amazing windows open sleeping.

-If traveling with young kids, leave large strollers at home or in the vehicle nearby. Also, plan on doing a little bit of impromptu baby-proofing as some doors do not shut all the way. Not a big deal and something to be expected when renting with toddlers in tow.

-The Internet connection and TVs definitely leave something to be desired and some of the furniture is a bit dated but we actually appreciated that it made us spend more time with each other, enjoying the surroundings, rather than being glued to the TV or our smartphones. There is so much to do in the area that we didn’t spend much time inside anyway.

We have already recommended this apartment to our friends and family and would definitely stay here again!

The town of Rockport and the city of Gloucester make up the island portion of Cape Ann. Joined to the mainland by 2 bridges, Cape Ann forms the northeast extreme of Massachusetts. Rockport enjoys a unique tourist setting perched on the edge of the Atlantic's rocky shore. Home to some of America's finest artists, as well as intrepid lobstermen who grace our evening tables with crustaceans plucked from the sea that very morning. A setting to make Norman Rockwell proud, white churches and picket fences abound. Famous in the late 1800's for its granite resources quarried by generations of Swedish and Finnish craftsmen, look for the unique rock walls each worker built around his home during his cherished days off. Sunset cruises aboard a 2-masted schooner complement a day on the ocean photographing humpback whales or fishing Jeffries' Ledge. Each Sunday night on Back Beach the bandstand comes alive with the music of local musicians. Escape into a story-book setting, and relax.
