Kids enjoy hiking, rock hoping in the streams, playing basketball, tennis, or the Montreat clubs for kids. During the summer, enjoy throwing a pot on a potter's wheel at the Sally Jones Craft center or take a paddle boat ride on Lake Susan. Montreat Conference Center hosts a variety of conferences for all ages sponsored by the Presbyterian Church (USA). Hear a sermon preached at Anderson Auditorium by one of America's finest preachers. Bushwack up behind the house and catch the gray blaze trail that will take you all the way up to the Lookout Mountain summit.
Asheville (the Biltmore Estate, the Grove Park Inn and Resort) are 20 minutes. Lake Lure is 25 minutes. Enjoy white water on either the French Broad or the Nanahala. Skiing is available 75 minutes away. Drive 1 hour to the summit of Mount Mitchell, the highest mountain on the East Coast. Drive 1 hour to the Occunaluftee village in Cherokee.
