Overview

About the property

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, full-size foldout couch,sleeps 3-4

Casita de la Luna is the epitome of the charming, authentic casita that everyone looks for when visiting Santa Fe, located within a 10-15 min. (.7 mile) walk of old Santa Fe's picturesque plaza. In the summer, enjoy our walled garden (shared with our other casita). In the winter, cozy up by your own kiva fireplace. It is very secluded and quiet, featuring authentic hand-painted Mexican tile and coved ceilings with original vigas, furnished with hand-carved Southwestern style furniture. The bedroom features fine linens for a wonderful night's sleep. In the bathroom, enjoy a large jacuzzi tub and stall shower. There is a full-size sleeper sofa in the living room area. The sunny atmosphere is the result of skylights throughout. Tastefully decorated with attractive artwork and hand-woven rugs. Off-street parking available as well as laundry facilities. Upon your arrival, you will find all the ingredients for a continental breakfast! The casita is maintained with care and pride.

Long-Term Owners: My husband and I have owned this property for over 13 years. In that time we have established a number of return guests who come year after year, saying that this is the best accommodations they have ever stayed in while in Santa Fe.

Cooling: The casita does not have central air conditioning. We have provided a portable air conditioner and fans for the summer months if people want to use them. The casita is the original adobe construction which has been used in New Mexico for centuries. The adobe walls keep the casitas cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The only kind of air conditioning that I could put in these historic buildings would be window units and I refuse to do that as they can be quite noisy and unsightly. In addition, in Santa Fe, the nights are 25-30 degrees cooler than the days, so we do not have hot summer nights.

Miscellaneous: One week stay minimum. No cleaning fees, no security deposit, no contracts.

About Roxanne Connan

My husband and I have had the pleasure of owning 102 Peña Place for 15 years. I really enjoy managing the property and knowing the people who come back year after year. We have lived in Santa Fe for over sixteen years and live a little bit outside of the city limits. We have a 19-year-old son, two collies and a cat.

Roxanne Connan purchased this bungalow in 2002

Why Roxanne Connan chose Santa Fe

When I first saw it, I knew it was the one because of the privacy, quiet and peacefulness. Short walk (10-15 minutes) to the plaza, but less expensive than staying on the East side. A few blocks from the new Railyard.

What makes this bungalow unique

I always put in the makings for a breakfast (cereal, milk, juice, bread, jam, fruit, butter) so people won't have to arrive in the afternoon and then immediately go find a grocery store.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful ten days staying here. Roxanne has taken great steps to make it well-equipped and comfortable, from the snacks and breakfast items to the deluxe towels. I was particularly impressed by the well-equipped kitchen. We were even able to prepare a complete Thanksgiving dinner! Thanks for a wonderful stay. We hope to return soon. Thanks, Elaine

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in Santa Fe with this casita being our home base. We had booked the home for one week beginning on a Monday but our road trip took a curve and we realized that we couldn't arrive until Tuesday. Roxanne accommodated the change without hesitation. When we arrived, the only thing we had to do was bring in our suitcases. There was some food waiting for us as well as clear instructions as to what we needed to know about the house. We loved the fire place (lot's of wood available) and each night when- we came home from exploring Santa Fe and the area around Santa Fe, we would finish our day by sitting with our books in front of the fire. I would use this rental again; it was lovely.

We highly recommend this beautiful casita. It is in a great location; on a quiet street. Very easy to walk to the Plaza, museums, restaurants, and the Railroad District. The property owners were very thoughtful and accommodating.

Beautiful and comfy!!

  • 5 of 5

Roxanne and Allen have done a wonderful job supplying their adorable Casita with everything one could possibly need. It is the perfect size for two people, and although I never tried it, does have a pullout couch for a third person if necessary. The kitchen was extremely well supplied and both whole Foods and Trader Joe's were within a short drive or walk away. I utilized the Bose CD player every day, especially enjoying the Buena Vista Social Club CD which had been left for the guests enjoyment.

The best part for me was the charming Kiva fireplace which I lit almost every morning and evening. There was plenty of wood supplied and the smell of the Pinon Pine was delightful as the temperatures out side cooled off as the sun went down and stayed cool all night. Great sleeping weather. It was early Spring when I was there, and fruit trees were in bloom all over town. My last morning I ate my breakfast outside in the small private courtyard sitting next to a white lilac shrub which was just starting to show it's sweet flowers. Delightful!

I can honestly say that I would recommend this sweet adobe Casita to anyone.

Exceeded Expectations

  • 5 of 5

Lovely Casitas. The location is fabulous. We were able to walk to everything. The Casitas was very well stocked, including lots of firewood. We were greeted with coffee, milk, pastries, fruit, everything and more that we would need for breakfast. Super clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. I appreciated the electric blanket. Parking was easy. The owners are lovely and very easy to work with. We have recommended this place to friends and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Perfect Casita

  • 5 of 5

WE loved being at the casita. It was attractive, comfortable, spotless, and exactly how the pictures showed it. The bed was very comfortable. It had everything we needed (even extra towels and wood for the fire) and the welcome basket was much appreciated. Jet lag comprised my reading comprehension leading me to contact the owners a few times with questions that later I realized were answered in the detailed instructions. They were prompt and courteous. The location was a pleasant walk to downtown and the neighborhood quiet and attractive. We would stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you.
