This bungalow was perfect for our family. We enjoyed eating in for brunch and for dinner! The kitchen was well stocked, the dining room table was a special spot to gather for meals and playing card games, the fireplace in the living room created a cozy atmosphere. The bedrooms were spacious, the beds comfortable. We were delighted to pick enough apples from the tree to bake two apple pies! We felt in so many ways that we were in a home away from home! We would definitely consider spending family time in this bungalow again! Thank you, RaeAnne, for being so accommodating!
Bright, cozy, charming cottage
We couldn’t have been happier with our stay at this house. What a perfect home base for our first trip to Maine! The house was just right for our family of seven (including grandparents and three young kids). My husband and I kept pointing out features we wish we had in our own home, like the bright sunny dining area with high ceilings, the cozy living room with the fireplace, the huge bedrooms with lots of windows. And two of my girls went crazy for the bedroom with alcove beds, they thought that was the coolest thing ever. They didn’t want to leave!
The house was remarkably clean and there was no trace of any dog ever having been there, despite it being a pet-friendly property. It really was sparkling clean.
The owner was a pleasure to work with, and there were plenty of instructions in the house to make things easy to find, like labeled drawers, signs in the bathroom pointing to towel storage, and instructions for WiFi and air conditioning.
The kitchen had everything we needed in terms of dishes, silverware, cups, cleaning supplies.
The beds were all incredibly comfortable and we all slept so well!
The location was perfect, right on the way in to Bar Harbor and so close to the Hulls Cove Visitor Center.
We loved our afternoon at Jordan Pond House in Acadia, and my three young girls loved the interesting boardwalk trail around the pond. We also had the best time climbing over the rocks on top of Cadillac Mountain.
As for Bar Harbor, we loved Mount Desert Island Ice Cream, Bar Harbor Popcorn, and Chocolate Moose. We had delicious pizza at Rosalie’s one night and a really fun dinner at Geddy’s (the lobster roll and fish and chips were wonderful, and the kids loved the frisbee plates they could keep, and the tiny toy geckos that came on their drinks!). And I absolutely loved Thrive Juice Bar (the pumpkin pie smoothie and the blueberry açaí bowl). On our last morning we got incredible cinnamon rolls at Bar Harbor Cheesecake and Wine Tasting on Cottage Street (the staff were so so nice), and the best chocolate chip cookies ever at Mount Dessert Bakery next door.
There lots of interesting places to eat between the house and Bar Harbor had we not wanted to venture into town!
We all hope we can stay here next year too!
Very enjoyable stay.
This house works out very well when traveling in a large group or with dogs.
Large Bungalow style home with well appointed kitchen. Easy check in and basics (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, sheets) provided. About 4.5 to Hull Cove entrance. There were some board games to play at the large kitchen table and we all had fun reading the old magazines from 1965😀. Really enjoyed the views of Salisbury Cove from the kitchen table. Loved the old wavy glass windows.
Great place to see Acadia, Bar Harbor area
Beautiful old house, away from the noise and crowds but with easy access to all areas of the island. House is immaculate and has some wonderful rooms and historical goods. If in Summer, there are some A/C constraints so talk with owner ahead. Location is right off main road but also at an intersection of roads that allows you to get anywhere on the island easily.
Charming property, great location
The reservation process was a breeze. The owner was easy to contact and communicate with. The rental has the basic necessities for your stay. Everything you need was close by. The property made it easy to visit Acadia and Bar Harbor. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.
Comfortable, clean, and charming
This is a charming bungalow with a cozy gas fireplace in the living room, a nicely equipped updated kitchen, and very comfortable mattresses. It is very clean and spacious. The location is an easy drive into Bar Harbor. RaeAnne was quick to respond to our questions about the TV. Our dog loved the big yard and the wrap around porch. We will definitely stay there again.
