Summary
Thanks for coming to stay in New Orleans! This is a spacious 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house with large kitchen, dining room, home gym, backyard patio/deck. It is located in a quiet, well-established neighborhood just north of the French Quarter (a quick 10 minute drive, a straight shot down Elysian Fields Ave). This property is ideal for parties up to 8 guests, can accommodate families and larger groups.
The Space
- The house is a large house, suitable for bigger parties. The house is in a very quiet, well-established neighborhood. This is my regular house where I live, but I travel a lot and not home much. My daughter lives on the property in an apartment above the garage in the backyard.
- The house is amazing. All wood floors, a front dive way, on a corner lot, so lots of parking. The patio is really nice to relax and have a drink on a balmy New Orleans day! The kitchen is good sized, with a laundry room attached, dishwasher, micro-wave, stove/oven, and coffee maker. All 4 bedrooms are fairly large with walk-in closets. Master bedroom is huge with a king sized bed, master bath has stand-up shower and jet-tub. But my prize room is the gym. If you want a good workout, I have an elliptical trainer, free weights and bench, a brand new row machine, pull up bar, balance ball and half ball, and a bicycle on a resistance trainer. The gym also has a TV with local stations, and AppleTV if you want to dial in Youtube or any other site to see workout videos. Enjoy the personal gym!
House Manual
The house manual can be found on the coffee table. It has good information on what to do on check-in, check-out, TV/WiFi instructions, local restaurants and bars, and favorite New Orleans attractions. Use the AppleTV to access online entertainment. To use the HD antenna, be sure to select TV as the source, and then you can flip through the local channels. For AppleTV, be sure to select HDMI 1, then you should see the main AppleTV menu with all the online programs to choose from, i.e. YouTube, Netflix, HBO, etc. If you have a cable subscription, you can access those programs through your provider, if not you can at least still see all their free programming. I have had very few inquiries about the TV as most people come to NOLA for the attractions, food, music, and amazing entertainment!
Guest Access
- You can access the whole house, back and front yards. Just be mindful of my personal things in all the closets through out the house. You can use the closets, just be sure to not disturb my personal stuff too much. Also be mindful of the onsite property manager in the back. She's quiet and very nice and entertaining, just be aware that she accesses the property through a gate in the backyard.
- We will send you the code the night before or morning of your arrival. If we are unable to greet you at the property, please use the keyless entry to let yourself in and make yourself at home. When entering, press the 4-digit code we will give to you before arrival. You will hear the motor engage, you have 5 seconds to unlock the deadbolt. Turn lock knob away from the door entrance, you should feel the deadbolt exit the borehole until the lock lever stops. Turn the doorknob and the door should open. When leaving, press the lock button, the deadbolt should mechanically slide into the borewhole. Ensure the deadbolt fully enters the borehole. Sometimes it doesn’t line up perfectly and you may need to jiggle the hand and the door to make it line up correctly. Always test the door to make sure it’s locked by trying to enter the house while turning the doorknob.
Guest Interaction
I am nearby and available when needed! We do our best to greet guests upon arrival whenever feasible, then your privacy is your own and our interaction thereafter is dependent on your needs. You may see us around maintaining the property which we often do, if you see us around feel free to say hi! Please feel free to call us directly if the need for assistance arises or contact us through the VRBO website. If we are out of town, we will provide you with a back up contact.
Other Things to Note
- I am gone quite a bit, so help yourself to anything in the cupboards, fridge/freezer, else the stuff will go bad. The laundry facilities are for your use as well.
- Due to the listing’s popularity there is a firm check-in and checkout policy. If your arrival time is earlier than the check-in, you are more than welcome to leave your luggage with the cleaning staff after 11:30am On your day of departure, if your stay exceeds the 10am checkout time you will be charged for an additional day. I look forward to hosting you and hope you enjoy New Orleans! Please let me know if you have any questions.
The Neighborhood
A very quiet, well-established neighborhood. Pretty much most of the residents on the street have lived there most of their lives. There is not much to say other than the neighborhood is low to no crime, super quiet, and nice neighbors.
Getting Around
As for distance, we're about a 20 min drive from the Super Dome, maybe a little less depending on traffic. But we're about a 10 min drive to the French Quarter, a straight shot down Elysian Fields Ave., it ends right there at the quarter, and near Frenchmen St (where the locals typically go, and some of the best restaurant/bar music venues in town). I recommend taking an uber or lyft everywhere you plan to go since parking is usually tough around the quarter/super dome, and you don't have to worry about driving. I usually uber when I go downtown. There is ample parking at the house, you can easily park 3 cars off the street, and ample parking on the street as I'm on a corner. So if you bring or rent cars, you'll have ample parking. You can catch an Uber to about anywhere for a reasonable fee. $8-10 should get you to the French Quarter. We are only 3-4 blocks from the bus line on Elysian Fields Ave, a direct shot down to the French Quarter, Frenchmen Street (where locals frequent for the best music restaurant/bar venues (my favorites are the Spotted Cat, the DBA, and the Maison), and the Bywater (great restaurants, and local art scene).
