About Jalna Southwick or David Southwick
Jalna and David met later in life in 2003. We were married in 2008. Our choice was to live up north at David's place and turn the house where Jalna raised her family into Kingsley Mill Manor. It's our favorite place to vacation. Our passion is to continue working on the Manor to make it ever more comfortable as a vacation rental. Recently we turned an attic into a beautiful master bedroom suite with 2 person Jacuzzi and a view from room of waterfall and mountains. Our current goal is to restore the last standing Kingsley mill, which is on the property and go green with water power from the river.
Jalna Southwick or David Southwick purchased this House in 1986
Why Jalna Southwick or David Southwick chose Salisbury
Kingsley Mill Manor has location, location, location. It's very private with no visible neighbors, yet a quarter mile from the village. A river runs through the property with two gorgeous swimming areas and a waterfall. Behind Kingsley the land is owned by the Middlebury Land Trust so will remain undeveloped. A trail runs from our back door to Lake Dunmore. This trail is part of the VAST system of snowmobile/cross country skiing trails that spans Vermont. It's also a gorgeous hike. The house is large, comfortable, with a long history. It is the perfect setup for a vacation rental, for family reunions, for ski teams, organizational meetings, weddings and just plain fun.
What makes this House unique
One of the features of the property that I fell in love with was the foot bridge over the pond and above the falls. Walk across for multiple trails to old mill foundations and cross country ski trails in the winter

Just as we expected
We will be back! Can’t say it any better than that! With Lake Dunmore just a few minutes away, this home had everything it promised. Thee best stocked kitchen in 19 years of summer rentals!!! Plenty of space. The kids loved the pond and a few of us adults even ventured in. But with the lake so close by it was quite simple to just go there and swim! The owner was fabulous even insisted that i not do the laundry!!! I small slice of heaven with gorgeous sunrises, huge bon fires, and fire flys to catch. You will not be disappointed!
Everything we could want and need
Plenty of room for our extended family to roam and play. We loved the yard and the water features, the trees, birds, breeze, and view over the water.
Great for Large Family!
This was the perfect house for our large family to stay while in town celebrating my sons wedding. It was clean, comfy and the kitchen was well stocked .
The property was an added bonus with a large yard, a fire pit and waterfall! We would love stay there again if we are find ourselves in the area.
A great place for large groups.
We have been coming here for a few years as a large group, there always seems to be plenty of room for everyone. The owners are great to deal with as well.
Thank you folks for your patronage May we have many more years!
Quiet and relaxing
Quiet and quaint home. Jalna was very responsive to any questions. Perfect for large families with lots of living space.
Wonderful house and location
The whole stay was great - the house has plenty of space and places to sleep as advertised. It was great fun for the kids both inside and out. Easy to take a quick drive to Middlebury too!
Kingsley Mill Manor is located a quarter mile from the village of Salisbury, just off Route 7. Take a left off Maple Street just past the post office and head north on Smead Road; we're the first house on the right outside of the village. Two miles further up the road is Lake Dunmore. Middlebury is ten miles north on Rt. 7, Burlington an hour north, Killington and Rutland are less than an hour south. Middlebury Snow Bowl is only minutes away. Lake Champlain is half an hour west. We have a hiking, mountain biking, snowmobile, and cross country skiing trail right out our back door. Lake Dunmore is only two miles through the woods. This trail is a branch of Vermont's VAST system of snow machine trails that covers the entire state. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing are allowed on this trail system.
Other Activities: Snowmobiling. Perfect site for a wedding or reunion.
Golf: The Neshobe Country Club is less than 10 minutes away as are other courses in the area.
Ski: Downhill skiers can choose from Killington, Sugar Bush, or the Middlebury Snowbowl. The Snowbowl is minutes away, Killington and Sugar Bush less than an hour. Cross country skiers step out the back door onto a state wide system of trails. No trail fees!
