** NEW in 2016: Manchester to Brindisi direct via Ryanair (Mon and Fri only)**

TrulliRoccia is a rare, romantic and newly restored (completed April 2014) trulli that has the ‘Soul of Puglia’ running throughout every cone and rock of its ancient construction. It will embrace you and captivate your heart from the moment you make your final approach to the property and step through the door.

Rare, because this well-appointed trulli has been sensitively restored to include three (3) ensuite bathrooms for each of the three (3) generously sized bedrooms, along with two sitting rooms/lounges, dining room and kitchen, should you choose to dine in. Total interior is 115 square meters / 1000 square feet. A plethora of original features – such as numerous 'niche', stone arches, working fireplace. alcoves and a wood-burning pizza oven, etc – will unfold as you settle in to a very special stay at TrulliRoccia.

As the Puglian lifestyle is centred around ‘outdoor living’, the property has a walled and outside shaded dining area. And plenty of additional stone terracing for basking in the sun.

Set in nearly one hectare (2 acres) on a hilltop with stunning vistas, TrulliRoccia will wrap you up in the ‘Soul of Puglia’ and envelope your mood. Its idyllic setting will challenge your senses -- vistas, birdsong, olive and fruit trees. You will be surrounded by countryside and magnificent views pocked by distant trulli cones poking through the olive groves and majestic hilltop masseria – providing maximum tranquility, serenity and relaxation for you and your family or travel companions. . ., making it oh so easy to leave the world behind.

Still, you will be ideally located for convenient access (10-15 min by car) to the beautiful Puglian hilltop towns of Ostuni, Cisternino, Martina Franca and Ceglie Messapica . . . each with its own unique character – and type of mozzarella! Ostuni's beaches are only minutes drive away.

Further afield, excursions to UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Alberobello (35 min) and Matera – a ‘must’ in our opinion – (1 hr 45 min), as well as the beautiful baroque city of Lecce (1hr 20 min) or Otranto (1 hour 45min) or Gallipoli (1 hour 30 min)

Kitchen has all modern amenities, including dishwasher.

Separate dining room with seating for six (6)

Shaded outdoor veranda for al fresco dining. Shaded poolside pergola. And poolside dining area in addition.

WIFI, iPod docking station, kettle, toaster, microwave, iron, ironing board

Utilities: central heating, dishwasher, laundry washer, 2x fridges/freezers, 4-ring stove, coffee makers, kettle. All kitchenware.

Bedroom Three: Double w/ ensuite bathroom

Puglia - Surrounding Countryside: Our trulli is ideally situated for easy exploration of Puglia, its countryside / the Valle d'Itria and beautiful towns / villages of Ostuni, Martina Franca, Cisternino, Ceglie, Locorotondo --- many of which you can see from our hilltop position. The World UNESCO site of Alberobello is only a 15 km drive through the rolling countryside of the Apulian hills.

perfect pool retreat close to enigmatic towns

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the fantastic views to surrounding lush olive groves; the trulli was wonderfully off the beaten track, beautifully quiet as well as scenic. Including the large sculptural cactus and olive trees within the design, the generous landscaping of the garden and pool area made the whole trulli experience comfortable and luxurious. The cabanna bed by the really brilliantly! designed pool was fab and the choice of seating and dining areas were super. Reading in the shade from the olive trees near the pool was idyllic.

Inside and out, the careful mix of vintage & reclaim elements with the contemporary brought out the authentic beauty of the stone. The trulli was well equipped and the style was warm and simple, not cluttered, white where possible on cloistered ceilings with atmospheric lighting. It offered great character and variation and was really well maintained.

The Trulli was a terrific base to enjoy beautiful historic and restaurant filled Cisterano and Martina Franca which we favoured as though pleasantly buzzy they were less touristy than Ostuni. We went to Lecce for the afternoon and evening, loved the hectic Florentine feel and mass of interconnecting historic streets of the old quarter, great shopping for 1950’s retro lights – even managed to bring a sputnik chandelier home….still to reassemble! Sure there is a lot more to discover but it was actually rather hard to drag ourselves away from the pool once we remembered we were on holiday!

Annie and Glenn were great hosts, really liked meeting both of them and getting all sorts of advice on the type of places we would most enjoy, villages, restaurants, beach clubs and so on.

We would definitely recommend for a beautiful escape and cultural local!

Let's start from the beginning ...

The owners were fantastic, great communication an very helpful.

The property... Amazing, quite an secluded. Great building very traditional yet extremely modern. All three rooms were ensuite well maintained an decorated..

The kitchen was well equipped, everything you could need an more including dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer. All the cutlery plates an pots/pans..

Outdoor areas.. Beautiful.. Two dining area's terrace to lounge on an sunbathe. The pool was large. Not heated an being outdoors it inevitably attracted bugs etc. Nevertheless, it was very nice an a great feature. It also had a BBQ an outdoor Wood fired pizza oven that was the best thing I've ever used. Great for socialising outside an cooking an authentic pizza in.

The only thing it needed was AC in the bedrooms. Apart from that it was an amazing place an we'll definitely go back again.

Thank you Glenn & Steve !

I highly recommend it to anyone traveling in a group or with family just wanting to get away from things an enjoy some quality time together.

An experience of a lifetime!

Would you like to try something so incredibly different while visiting the Puglia region of Italy? Then TrulliRoccia is the place to stay. Location was perfect to take daily trips to surrounding towns. We really had no idea what to expect. After looking at the photos, we knew it would be beautiful and unique. But once you step through the front door, it brought everything to life. TrulliRoccia was spotless and as well appointed as a home can be. We were 3 women in our late 50's, so we each had our own bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. It was perfect! Each morning we would leave to tour a different area of Puglia. By 5 PM, we couldn't wait to drive back to TrulliRoccia. It truly felt like your home away from home. The drive off the main road to the Trullo was a little tricky at first. But after a couple of runs, it was a piece of cake. You just have to be careful. We finally ventured out at night by the end of the week, only to realize we would have rather stayed in our Trullo and cook in our kitchen. The grounds were stunning and so peaceful. We were able to spend a couple of days by the pool. It felt magical and incredibly relaxing. Once we were in for the night, we felt as if we were in this safe cocoon. It felt cool at night inside, but each room had its own heating system, which worked beautifully. The WiFi was an added bonus.

I just learned about Trullis 8 months ago from a friend who told me about the Puglia region. I was lucky enough to find TrulliRoccia online to experience this amazing vacation that I will never, ever forget. Thank you Glenn, Steve, Annie (and Pip)!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you Angela! We're so happy that your stay in Puglia is unforgettable and our own oasis in the Puglian countryside, TrulliRoccia, made for the perfect base for relaxing and exploring the area. Personally, my best holidays have been when I know little about the area and arrive with few expectations. In this case, we are glad that Puglia and our home appears to have delivered for a most pleasant and memorable experience for you and your friends. Glenn and Steve

An Idyllic Spot

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely two week family holiday in Trulli Roccia. It was exactly as described, clean and really well maintained.

The drive from the main road was a bit of an adventure but worth it as on arrival the Trulli was amazing!

The Trulli has been beautifully and tastefully restored and it is very well equipped. It is in a peaceful idyllic position with spectacular views across the valley. The pool is incredibly well designed with ledges either side within the pool for lounging (well we lounged!). We thoroughly enjoyed picking fresh figs from the garden for breakfast.

We were met by Annie who was welcoming; helpful when we got lost and she provided great restaurant and beach recommendations. We had some delicious meals out and thoroughly enjoyed the local food including the reasonably priced salami and cheese.

Glenn was friendly, always answered queries promptly and politely.

Recommended for a restful holiday.

A real gem!

  • 5 of 5

Coming to Trulli Roccia in early November we had concerns about the weather, but found the days warm and sunny and the evenings really cosy (the heating works rapidly and efficiently). It was too cool to swim, but we sat happily by the magnificent pool enjoying the views of distant trulli cones and Ostuni on its promontory.

Trulli Roccia has been extremely well designed for the needs of visitors. The ensuite bedrooms are well spaced off the living areas, giving quiet and privacy. There are multiple sitting areas, inside and out, so there’s no sense of crowding. The showers are excellent and we loved the enormous stone basins. The lighting is wonderfully atmospheric and the acoustics – we discovered – are amazing! Bring an iPod.

Although you feel miles from anywhere, it’s surprisingly quick to get to neighbouring towns and villages, to supermarkets and to great restaurants. We tried several of the owners’ recommendations, and discovered others. We found a sat nav essential as the immediate roads are unnamed and one dry-stone walled olive grove looks very much like the next!

Warm thanks to Annie for tolerating our arrival around midnight and providing all the essentials (and some treats) to get going. And cheers to Glenn and Steve for the thought that’s gone into every element of this property. We’re coming back!

Owner's Response: Thank you Mike. Yes, November is an often-overlooked time to visit Puglia. And it can be really interesting watching the olive harvest. We are so pleased that you enjoy TrulliRoccia as much as we do . . . and even more chuffed that you have already booked your return for next year. Thank you, see you next year. Glenn & Steve
