Great family vacation
This house was wonderful for our family of 6 adults and 5 children ranging in age from 2 to 17. Perfect location for easy walk to nice beach, and convenient to Father Rooster restaurant. The pool was enjoyed many hours each day, and the various levels kept us in shape climbing stairs!
Beautiful and relaxing home
Beautiful and clean home, five min walk to the beach and father rooster. The pool was wonderful and the private hot tub was amazing, especially for the little ones. Only issue we had was that the air conditioning stopped working in one of the rooms and the couple that was staying in there had to move in to one of the other rooms for a couple nights (that had twin beds and had a child staying in there we had to move), so kinda stinks that we paid to use 5 bedrooms and didn’t get to for two of our nights and had to move people around a few times which was inconvenient. The ac started working again for our last couple nights which was good.
Coco is a fun little town and the beaches are beautiful nearby! Also you def need a 4wd vehicle for the driveway cause it is steep.
Hope to go back sometime soon
Me and my family have a wonderful and peaceful vacation on Ocotal. This house was pretty nice and just five minutes walk to the beach, which by the way is beautiful. Make sure you got there on a 4 wheel drive vehicle so you're able to climb up to the garage. The only downside is that you are going to be really healthy to go up and down the stairs, but it's worthy when you see the colors of the sky in the afternoon from the top floor. Claudia was really nice and always keep the house clean for us. There are lots of beaches just minutes away so there was pretty fun for us. Tim was very nice and kind. I will strongly recommend this place for anyone, but keep it down and enjoy your stay.
So glad you enjoyed your stay. Come back anytime. Pura Vida, Tim.
Absolutely loved it!
We stayed three nights with a group of 10 adults during the week of 4th of July and Villa Vista Azul was amazing! The villa is lovely and very well appointed, especially the kitchen. We had every possible needed item and then some. The A/C and hot water were both terrific and the location excellent. It was also really nice to have our own washer/dryer. We loved our private spa and the shared community pool was often empty, so it was nice to have it to ourselves - with a Tiki hut! The housekeeper, Claudia, came in each morning and did a super job - she was very sweet. We were also very close to Father Roosters Restaurant, a great spot right on the beach (within a 5 minute walk) for lunch or dinner with a beautiful view. We would definitely stay here again; everything was outstanding!
So glad you enjoyed your stay. Come back again! Pura Vida, Tim.
Beautiful villa overall town not great
The Villa is beautiful with plenty of room and a great kitchen. The pool is very nice with area for shade or sun, it is shared with adjacent villa's so don't expect it to be completely private. Ocotal beach is very close and nice with decent snorkeling and dark sand. Father Rooster restaurant is very nice, right on the beach and short walk from the villa.
Outside the gated community of Ocotal is a little town with good grocery stores and plenty of restaurants especially if you go the 2-3 miles to Coco, a car is a must. Coco is more tourist focused with gift shops and lots of bars. Expect to be approached by people trying to sell you something or get you to see a time share. They are harmless but persistent.
The town is very rustic with families walking along the road or riding bikes so you have to be very careful driving. There are only a few paved roads but they get you to most of the busy places. We always felt safe and found the people to be very friendly and helpful.
If your focus is to hike, see volcano's, visit the national parks all those events are inland and are an hour or more drive away. The ocean is nice and warm but we encountered little jelly fish that were a bother and, for some of us, left very itchy welts. We did not swim in the ocean much and would have been better off staying at a resort inland near the parks and swimming in their pool and taking a day trip to the ocean.
Just up the road in Hermosa the whole town was more developed and offered great restaurants, a beautiful long beach to walk or swim. There is a good paved road linking Ocotal with Hermosa it was about a 20 min drive.
We found the people of Costa Rica to be super nice and very proud of their country. The food was awesome and the wild life amazing. Monkeys, armadillos, toucan birds, sloths and many other can all be spotted. The earlier you go the better as the animals tend to sleep from 10 am - through the hot part of the day.
The property manager was very nice although we did not have much interaction with him. The house keeper was also very nice, she washes cloths and is in and out quickly without being intrusive at all.
Great for a large group.
A great set up for large families. Beautiful view and outstanding pool. Easy walk to the beach and Father Rooster. Driveway is at an angle that rivals Everest.
