NEXT - the Story …

WHERE DOES ALL THAT WATER COME FROM? I am so often left wondering.

THE SETTING. It's all about the creek! Private, soothing and relaxing is how our guests always describe Rushing Waters Cabin, a 1200 square foot rustic cabin sitting just feet from a rushing, meandering creek -- in a MAGNIFICENT SETTING! The boulder-strewn creek borders the heavily-wooded 1-acre lot for 250 feet. If you're at the cabin after a good rain you'll enjoy a roaring creek and small waterfalls rushing over the boulders - amazing. The cabin is strategically sited where you get the best view of the creek from the whole living area. If you have never stayed creekside - this is the way to go -- creek runs right next to cabin and you hear it rushing ALL THE TIME -- so relaxing! Mother nature’s lullaby. Lots to see in the area but plan to spend time at the cabin to enjoy the creek ... it will call to you.

There is a beautiful, huge, super sweet white Pyrenees dog from over the bridge - Samson - who always comes to visit, looking for treats. He is friendly with other pets but keep that in mind if your pet isn’t.

EVERYONES FAVORITE SPOTS. Everyone raves about the screened sleeping porch, sitting right on the creek. It’s a favorite spot to enjoy the views and sounds of the creek, with its comfy futon and gas fireplace. I love having my hot morning coffee out there, wrapped in a blanket, sitting fireside on a cold morning. Or spending an afternoon reading a book there. Definitely the best spot to take in the magic around you, regardless of the weather.

There’s also the comfy window seat that opens up to the sleeping porch and also overlooks the creek. Or the comfy leather sofa in the living area, with its huge stacked-stone, wood-burning fireplace.

The creek is lit so you can enjoy it in the evenings. There is also an outdoor firepit to enjoy a cozy fire off the deck and an outdoor dining area overlooking the creek.

THE FOREST. The cabin is located amongst a forest of tall trees and is heavily shaded creekside. Many of the trees are 50 feet tall or more. We have lots of rhodos and azaleas blooming from May on. So even in the winter there will be green of the rhodos all around you. The creekside is usually cool. Because of the creek and our elevation (about 1500 feet) its always cooler here - even in summer.

THE CABIN. The cabin is rustic, with cedar tongue and groove throughout, giving it the cozy, lodge feel you envision for a 'mountain cabin.' Modern open--plan living area, massive stone wood fireplace. Executive lodgings with rusic appeal. Cabin is decorated with style and comfort in mind (not grandmas's plaid sofa).

In the open living area you will find a comfy leather sofa and club chair - softest leather ever - flat screen TV with HD, voice remote, plus an 8-foot window seat that overlooks the creek. Indoor dining seats 4-6 and outdoor dining seats 6. Cabin has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths and sleeps 4 in beds: the master bedroom has a king bed with a full bath, plus an electric fireplace; the second bedroom has a queen log bed. Quality beds are comfortable. Window seat can sleep 2 small kids (probably not the best for adults). Full -size futon (with a real mattress) on the screened sleeping porch is available for those who want to sleep and “glamp' by the creek..

Fully-equipped kitchen. Pod and regular coffeemaker. Air-fryer/convection oven. Central air and heat. Washer/dryer. Lots of blankets and cushions. Games, cards, puzzles and books too. All the comforts of home. Our guests always comment on how we have 'everything'!

WIFI; Flat screen HD TVs and satellite television with DishTV w/Americas Top 120 channels and DVR available in the living room and both bedrooms. You can access your Netflix and other apps on the TVs. UNLIMITED US LONG DISTANCE. *** CELL PHONE and all its features work on WiFi calling setting.

PETS ALLOWED. We welcome your dogs. We charge a 1-time pet cleaning fee, that's it. No cats - they scratched the leather furniture). And not to worry --- home is aired out regularly and super clean - smells fresh and clean, no mustiness or pet odor.

Small children are OK but you MUST supervise them at all times.

FINALLY - NEARBY ATTRACTIONS.

Plan on a few days at the cabin. But if you want to get out and sightsee there are so many beautiful places and wonderful mountain experiences waiting for you here in the Lake Chatuge area! You have to do Hiawassee - amazing lake town - 15-20 minutes away.

CASINO opened in Murphy - about 25 minutes away.

LAKE CHATUGE, the Jewel of the Mountains, is undoubtedly the most beautiful lake in the mountain area. It provides ample opportunities for waterside dining and excellent fishing and boating (boat and water toy rentals available). (15 minutes)

The great lakeside town of HIAWASSEE GA, with its beautiful views of Lake Chatuge, its lakeside restaurants and its funky shops (15-20 minutes)

The picturesque alpine village of HELEN GA with lots of nice dining, bars and shopping, plus tubing on the river in summer.(30-40 minutes)

HIAWASSEE RIVER where you can tube or kayak down the lazy river

Excellent FISHING on Lake Chatuge (its stocked) and Tuni Creek nearby.

GOLF at one of the beautiful mountain golf courses nearby -- The Ridges, Chatuge Shores or Brasstown Resort (5-25 minutes).

Not to mention, horseback riding, hiking trails, and great mountain and antique shopping.

DAY TRIPS. Great homebase location to explore the area. Other nearby cities include Asheville, Lake Lure, Gatlinburg, Cherokee, Highlands, Chimney Rock and Atlanta - most 1-2 hours away. . . Whitewater rafting and stunning waterfalls nearby too. Plan to stay awhile … there’s so much to do !

HOW TO GET HERE. Fly into Atlanta or Asheville and rent a car for a scenic 2 1/2-hour drive to the cabin. You can also come in through Tennessee or Asheville.

Relaxing!!!
Property is comfortable and well-appointed. Screened-in porch was delightful. Stream right off of back porch was wonderful and enjoyable. Made for a very relaxing getaway. Lots to do within an hour's drive or less. Even more to do just a little further out

Another incredible week
Our second time this summer staying at Rushing Waters and a 3 in rain brought an amazing cascade of water. I like to sleep on the porch because the water lulls me to sleep and I stay asleep all night. This time we visited nearby Fires Creek. Highly recommend this lovely place.

This is our second home and mountain getaway. We gladly share this very special place and experience with our wonderful guests. The satisfaction and comfort of our guest is a priority. We live in Miami and cherish little more than our time spent at our creekside mountain getaway and are always sad to leave.

Why they chose this property

After weeks of internet searches and days of viewing properties in the area in 2007 we found this incredible property and instantly fell in love with its rustic cedar interior, enchanted setting and the amazing creek, which rushes just feet off the house, unlike any other home we had seen. We added a stone wood-burning fireplace, moved the gas fireplace out to the sleeping porch and installed a window seat for additional comfort and charm.

What makes this property unique

The creek is amazing. It was a quiet creek when we first bought it but soon discovered how it changes after a strong rain, becoming almost torrential, as it cascades along its path. So hope for rain when you are there, so you can enjoy the creek at its best.
