Check-ins on MONDAYS | Check-outs on SUNDAYS

Jamison House is situated on 5 privately owned acres, bordering Plumas National Forest lands and adjacent to the Wild & Scenic Middle Fork of the Feather River. Especially suited for outdoor enthusiasts and animal lovers seeking more of a nature-based rejuvenation experience. Guests are invited to harvest from the greenhouse, pet a goat, collect their own chicken eggs, and drop into the flow of gentle paced living at this biodynamic farmstead.

"Find your True North in The Lost Sierra."

Walking distance from Jamison House is a well-worn path into the Plumas National Forest. Upon request (and if available) Host Leslie will cheerfully guide guests to some of her favorite locations - dubbed namesakes like Juniper Portal, Stargazing Plateau, and the Leaning Tower of Treesa - all of which are sure to become treasured spots for visitors as well. A 10 minute walk lands vacationers at the stunning Feather River, an awesome place for waterway exploration. At Jamison House ~ wildlife abounds, hidden swimming holes await, and wide open spaces simply beg guests to BREATHE IN the High Sierra mountain air.
Enjoy hiking, fishing, mountain biking, and a multitude of winter activities (snowshoeing/snowmobiling/sledding) at Jamison House. Guests are encouraged to check out Plumas County/Lost Sierra websites to get an idea of the many local offerings - in addition to experiencing the great outdoors, folks will soon find there are a wide variety of special events catering to all sorts of hobbies and interests. See Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce for current calendar.
Jamison House specializes in nature-immersion, sustainable living practices, and farm-to-fork offerings...there simply is no place like it in the surrounding area. Amenities are spa-like ~ the home is equipped with Himalayan salt lamps - air diffusers with essential oils - a noise simulator that plays "thunderstorm," "stream," and the like - a Bose Sound System throughout - and yet all towels and linens are line-dried when nature allows. The Jamison home is truly a cut-above the rest in the vacation rental category, and is on its way to becoming a niche-type private sanctuary retreat. For this reason, guests are encouraged to book early for their 3-night minimum stay getaway - a time period purposefully and specifically selected by Leslie to allow ample time for unwinding and gentle reflection. Having hosted for several years, her experience has been that folks need at least a few days to settle in and really relax, which is Leslie's goal for each visitor.

Within a 30 minute (walking or driving) radius, you can expect to find:
Plumas and Tahoe National Forests
Nationally registered Wild & Scenic Middle Fork Feather River
Golf Resorts Galore: The Dragon at Gold Mountain; Whitehawk Ranch; Graeagle Meadows; and Feather River Park Resort & Golf to name a few
Lakes Basin Recreation Area
Plumas Eureka State Park
Lake Davis Recreation Area
Beautiful Sierra Valley, home of the Upper Feather River Watershed
Graeagle - Trip Advisor voted "Top 16 Most Remarkable Towns"
Surrounding quintessential mountain towns: Quincy; Truckee; Clio; Johnsville
Portola Railroad Museum and Western Pacific Railway
*45 minute drive to Reno, Nevada and 1 hour drive to Lake Tahoe*

The recently remodeled Gold Rush inspired Jamison House is a great place for two couples or a family of four to getaway in luxury surrounded by trees and small farm animals (goats, chickens, pigs.) Leslie happily gives farm tours and invites visitors to harvest from what is available in the H.O.E. (Heaven on Earth) garden. She planted 40 apple trees in 2021 and grows strawberries and herbs prolifically - it is from these fruits and medicinals that she stocks a wide variety of value-added products in the Farm Stand located a few hundred feet from the Jamison House.

Jamison House is an animal lovers paradise and 100% dog-friendly. When guests opt to bring their favorite 4-legged friends, they will be surprised by all the luxurious canine offerings! Orthopedic dog beds, water/food bowls, extra food and gourmet treats, plus loads of toys are sure to keep dog friends wagging their tales. There is also a 10x10 outdoor kennel attached to the vacation home in the back yard in case visitors would like to explore the area, sans pups.

At Jamison House, forest and farm merge together within the property boundaries to really offer guests a unique Plumas County stay. There are greenhouses, farm animals, garden spaces, and a Farm Stand...all surrounded by pines, junipers, and fir trees. Wildflowers abound, an ephemeral stream crosses in front of the home during the months of Spring, and peace and quiet reigns in all seasons. Come explore The Lost Sierra ensconced at Forest & Farm!

We’ll stock coffee bar makes for great mornings!
The host, Leslie anticipated our needs. Traveling with a dog, there was a bed, food bowls, treats and toys available to keep our little one entertained. Communications was prompt and friendly. Even offered recommendations for restaurants and local sites. The forest and farm house was very well stocked with coffee and tea options. The bed and bedding was super comfortable. Walking around the property to visit with the goats was fun too.

The house was great. Very quiet surroundings.
I would only have one suggestion: hand bar/railing for bathtub. It is extremely slippery and dangerous.

About the host

Hosted by Leslie Wehrman

Host profile image
I ran a private business for over 25 years until one day I woke up, took a giant leap of faith, and decided to start living in truer alignment with my personal gifts and talents in a way that made sense to me. I've been a Plumas County native since 1978 and wanted to begin sharing my knowledge and affinity for the local area with folks interested in connecting with nature in meaningful ways, so I started the Forest & Farm business in 2018 and began weaving together a bed & breakfast type hospitality with a hands-on working farm component - this was the birth of Jamison House.

I was raised in the historic mining town of Johnsville, situated within Plumas Eureka State Park, just a 15-minute drive from Jamison House. As a youngster I routinely skied home from the Johnsville Ski Hill, original seat of the longboards downhill ski tradition, and extensively explored the surrounding mountain ranges of Eureka Peak, Mt. Elwell, and Washington. After attending Chico State University I moved back to the area and purchased the acreage upon which Jamison House now rests. I earned certifications as a California Naturalist in 2016 and an Eco-Sustainable Farming Techniques practitioner in 2020. These two courses helped shape the overall vision of Forest & Farm, and adding Jamison House to the property awhile ago now allows me the privilege of sharing my love of The Lost Sierra with folks from around the world.

I truly enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and warmly invite guests to interact with all there is to see and do on the farm and surrounding natural landscapes. Basking in the glow of High Sierra Solitude has enriched my life in countless ways, so I strive at Forest & Farm to help others find meaningful connections too. I'm happy to give Jamison House guests farm tours, steer visitors to my favorite hiking trails, offer dining recommendations, and basically act as travel guide for anyone interested!

"Life simply flows at a gentler pace here."

Why they chose this property

I purchased this property (5 acres) in 1993 with the intention of raising my two beautiful daughters in a prime location for them to develop into strong, capable, and kind people - which thankfully is exactly what came to pass. Having been raised myself in Plumas Eureka State Park, I experienced firsthand what it meant to be a Mountain Kid, and the sense of pride that went along with it. Thus, when this land just off County Road A-15 came up for sale, it was a no-brainer. The property is bordered by Plumas National Forest and is across the street from the magical Feather River. My girls and I spent countless hours exploring the wooded areas and swimming holes in the adjacent waterways. The acreage provided plenty of gorgeous space for us to raise chickens, rabbits, goats, sheep, pigs, dogs, cats, and enjoy our three horses "Belle," "Harmony," and "Fidel." Though my daughters are now grown, I continue to be so very grateful for the land upon which I live.
There are currently two homes, a barn with outbuildings, and one studio on this lovely property. Since the space is now also part of my business, I spend large amounts of time with beautification projects that Jamison House guests are sure to enjoy. Whether visitors want to interact with farm animals, wander in the gardens, or simply enjoy some peace and quiet...it can all be found at the enchanting Jamison House.

What makes this property unique

As mentioned, this property is dear to my heart for a myriad of reasons. However, it's uniqueness is obvious once you are on-property. Unlike other vacation rentals, it is not in a subdivision, homeowners association, situated on a golf course, or in a noisy downtown. Rather, this farmstead home retreat rests on 5 acres of privately owned rural land outside city limits. Jamison House is quiet, beautifully landscaped, pet friendly, and borders Plumas National Forest lands. Forest and farm merge together within the property boundaries - there are greenhouses, multiple garden spaces, farm animals, and a Farm Stand - all surrounded by pines, junipers, and fir trees. Wildflowers abound, wildlife thrives, ephemeral streams flow, and peace and quiet reign. Guests are encouraged to collect their own chicken eggs and help themselves to harvest what's ripe from the greenhouse. Luxury accommodations are standard at Jamison House, where spa-like amenities round out the ultimate sanctuary-like experience,
"Jamison House is unique unto itself - there is nothing like it in the surrounding area."
