About this property

The Dairy at the Wegmueller Farm - stay on a Wisconsin farm!

Welcome! You are about to experience life on an active 4th-generation farm nestled in the rolling hills of Green County. Located less than five miles from Monroe, this home away from home is close enough to all that Monroe & the surrounding community has to offer, but still has room to stretch your legs.

This space is fully licensed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Privacy, space to relax, activities to participate in, room to run around - whatever it is you are looking for, it's here. The home has several reading nooks, plenty of space to play games or work on a puzzle, and several options for outdoor seating. Feel like having a cup of coffee while watching the sun come up and the countryside awaken? Relax on the cozy front porch. Feel like grabbing an afternoon glass of wine & local cheeses to watch the sun go down and the evening colors come alive? Take in the view alone, or spread out with a group on the spacious upper balcony - we'll even help you get the cheese.

Sleeping arrangements include one master bedroom loft with one queen bed and twin daybed, and three additional bedrooms; with two couches in the common area included, figure ample sleeping room for up to 12 guests. Bathrooms include a main-level bathroom centrally located with toilet, shower/tub combo, and more than enough towels to go around, as well as a private bathroom with shower attached to the upper master bedroom loft.

Enjoy a fully stocked kitchen and dining room, with generous grocery and restaurant options less than a 10-minute drive into town. In fact, there are a couple restaurants that even deliver to the farm!

For nights in, enjoy a large family room with streamable TV/entertainment center. Our WiFi is excellent; stream what you want to watch, or borrow a DVD from our collection. The tile floor is heated for ultimate comfort, and a functional fireplace made from field stones we picked from the farm adds the ultimate touch. We'll even make sure there is firewood ready to go.

Outside there is plenty of room to run around. Go ahead, burn those calories - or stock up on them by roasting s'mores over an open fire underneath a starlit sky. Some of our nights are clear enough to see the Milky Way. If outdoor barbecuing is more your thing, there is a grill plus accessories in the garage, ready to go. We'll even make sure there is plenty of gas and firewood on hand. While you're grilling, the kids can play with the toys in the garage, ride a bike, or enjoy the outdoor play set.

If you are a larger group, no sweat - there is plenty of room for multiple cars.

Ready to interact? Schedule a farm tour, complete with the opportunity to meet the cows, share snacks with Prof. Paisley, Chonkey, Porka & Dot, the farm's Kunekune pigs (and garbage disposals), and meet the resident donkeys, ponies, and horses. Speaking of horses.....

Horses have defined the human experience for thousands of years! Learn one-on-one how special and unique these incredible animals are, and the rejuvenating aspects of a horse friendship. We offer horse experiences for kids, teens, and adults for an extra fee. This includes a hands-on experience exploring the basics of horsemanship: We begin with grooming, tacking, and learning about the fundamentals of building a relationship with our equine friends. Each participant will experience the thrill of a one-on-one riding lesson, and will gain the experience and confidence to take the reins for a ride around our arena. All safety gear is provided and photos are welcome! No prior riding experience necessary.

Come and experience for yourself this integral, yet familiar slice of our local heritage! Hope to see you soon.

***As this is a working farm with live animals, guests are encouraged to practice good hand-washing after any interaction with animals.

Great experience
I would recommend Wegmueller Dairy Farm to anyone. Dan and Ashley were amazing hosts. The house was perfect for our girl’s weekend with 5 of us. We did the farm tour, which was informative and fun. Kaylie, the dairy manager was part of things and knowledgeable as well. We didn’t go horseback riding, but we’ll be back to do so. If you want to do something different with friends and family, this is it. It was interesting to learn about farming and how the Wegmuellers are helping educate their visitors. Thank you Dan, Ashley, and Kaylie for an amazing experience.

Cute property, WiFi was terrible
We enjoyed our stay very much. The owners were very nice. The wifi was unusable at times. We couldn’t work and forget streaming anything. The farm is super fun and we loved feeding the pigs.

This farmhouse has EVERYTHING!
Made a trip with 4 adults (73, 72, 42, 41) and 2 kids (5 & 3) over Fourth of July weekend. Walked into a fridge that had 2 welcome beers from local breweries, cheese and caramel corn mix, local chocolates, coffee from local business, soaps from local artisans. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots pans, dishes, oven, microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker. Also, fresh eggs from the farm. We opened the garage and there were folding and bag chairs. Cornhole game, Bucket of farm vehicle die cast toys, soccer ball, tennis balls, badminton rackets, bicycles, baby stroller, grill, charcoal and s’mores skewers. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed the play ground swing set. There is a balcony deck of the master, great to watch sunsets. Believe e the balcony are swings and a hammock. We did not need the pack and play, but it was available in our walk in cost. The kids even enjoyed the bath toys that were there. Grams w joyed the bath salts and lotion. We did the farm tour experience with Dan and Ashley. It was very educational, and fun. Milking the cow was my favorite part, followed closely by feeding the pigs and piglets. I HIGHLY encourage you to feed the pig’s. Make sure to bring your boots. Yes, you are in a farm and you are going to smell cow poop, it comes with the territory. It is not overwhelming, unless you are standing right next to the cows. So don’t allow that to dissuade you from this amazing house and experience. In the hour I got

Lots of fun yet amazingly peaceful
My daughter, grandaughters and I all had an amazing adventure at the farm. We loved milking the cows and feeding the calves. My nine year old grandaughter fell love with the pigs but especially loved the evening horse back rides with her mom and I. The two year old enjoyed everything from her own swing set to watching the sunsets as we layed back on the hammock. Dan and Ashley and all the workers on the farm made us feel so welcome and so comfortable. The views from the porch, the deck, and countryside were breathtaking. So peaceful! The home was spotless and decorated beautifully. Thanks Dan and Ashley. We will be back!

Dairy Farm Fun
Overall, everything was exceptional. We loved meeting all the animals and finding out a lot about a dairy farm. Everyone was so friendly and shared so much information as well as answered all our questions. It was a beautiful area and home. We were able to just relax there and check out a couple local towns during our visit. We would recommend this home to anyone and would love to go back. Dan and Ashley were available if needed and did a great job with their home and all they offer to any guest. The home was stocked with anything you could think of that you may need. Of course, the animals were the best part of the stay.

We're from Green County so we've got the best recommendations on things to do, see, and experience, and especially where to get the BEST cheese and beer!

Why they chose this property

As fourth-generation on this farm, our family has been the caretaker here for nearly 100 years! We are located just close enough to Monroe to be convenient, but still have the opportunity to enjoy the peaceful countryside and starlit sky.

What makes this property unique

We are an active farm - our animals get cared for every single day. We encourage guests to get involved in the farm, take an interactive tour, and even offer equine activities. Relax - Connect - Enjoy!
