About this property

Charm of a family property in the green of the Ambazac mountains

In the heart of the Ambazac mountains, the house built in the 18th century is located in the center of the village, next to a 13th century church and opens onto a 2000 m2 garden enclosed by walls with a heated and secure swimming pool (shutter electric and access grid).
The house offers an ideal setting for a peaceful or more festive holiday, with family or friends.
For sports enthusiasts, the Ambazac mountains offer hiking and mountain biking circuits. Saint Sylvestre is located 5 km from Lake Saint Pardoux offering water activities (sailing, water skiing, ...), a tree climbing course, organized beaches, an aquatic complex. You can also take advantage of the equestrian center located 2km away or opt for a golf course.
On the cultural level, your stay will be an opportunity to take advantage of the know-how of the region: porcelain, glove making, Aubusson tapestry. Your walks will take you to Limoges (20min by the A20), Saint Léonard de Noblat, Oradour Sur Glane, ... and why not as far as Dordogne or Périgord.
In terms of gastronomy, the Limousin is renowned for its excellent beef, as well as its chestnuts and apples.

Good - but minor improvements will help to reach 5 stars
The property is very nice, beautiful surroundings. Outside very well maintained including the pool. You have privacy and to be honest, the photographs we saw in the advertisement don’t do it justice: it’s better. Inside is a bit different. First of all is that it wasn’t clear that some bedrooms where adjacent, you could only reach one by walking thru the other. The top floor bedroom was with a very low ceiling and not attractive to our girls. We have four girls, teenagers and we wanted individual rooms for them. That was not possible, they ended up sharing. The master bedroom was fine, but the door didn’t close easily and certainly didn’t give privacy. Part of old French charm maybe? It had a separate bathroom of which the door was impossible to close. Very annoying. A good carpenter can have both doors fixed in a mornings work. There is a separate toilet and separate shower that the girls used. Modern, nice but no shower curtain! The floor was constantly soaked with water. Downstairs was nice, nice layout. A lot of kitchen utensils, some however weird. Five frying and cooking pans with no handle to hold them?? Enough other stuff to prepare good meals. One final minor point was hygiene. The kitchen and specifically the fridge where really dirty. Fridge als has a door that doesn’t shut, so it is covered in water and ice crystals. Also many spider webs in corners… needs a proper cleaning. Nonetheless we had a good stay, in spite of six days of rain. Recommend!

We had a good week here, although the weather wasn't great the heated pool kept warm throughout. lots of space in the house and garden, plenty of history in the building. Great communication with the Host, would stay again.
